Sorry if this has been asked - couldn't find a thread with it.

How many onions, roughly, are we talkin' when we say 2 1/2 lbs? (don't have a food scale)

And I'm sans mandolin slicer and have an antiquated food processor. How thin do they need to be? I am willing to put in the labor.

I think 2.5 pounds is roughly 2 to 3 large onions.

Also, I chopped in the food processor and didn't worry about thinness or slices vs chunks. Turned out great!

I use 1 onion slivered up for every 4 slices of onion bread.
