Greetings, raw food folks! I have been a vegetarian since may of 1994. This Christmas we were visiting family in Colorado. My 14 year old granddaughter, Leah, has been eating mostly raw for months. Iwas intrigued, so had her fix me lots of good raw foods, incluing flax seed crackers, fresh juices, and wonderful salads and dressings. She received a copy of Alissa's book for christmas and while we were there I read the whole thing. I've been eating raw since Dec. 27, have lost 10 lbs., and feel wonderful. I was constantly hungry the first week, but that passed. Now I'm just figuring out the time to prepare foods in a different way. I'm doing well, I think. The hardest part for me is eating out with my friends. The only menu options I can count on are salads, which are sometimes substandard. I look forward to chatting with you all. I am 65, have 7 children, 17 grandchildren, work as a hospital chaplain, swim, bike, and do yoga often.

YOU RAWK..........."And the little Children shall lead them". That is RAWsome having your Grand daughter introduce you to RAW...........its PRICELESS. I am so Thrilled you are doing so well and so open to doing this LifeStyle.

Are you in constant communication with your Grandaughter? I think it would be great to swap recipes with her.....I think she is a little PEACH. Aren't you glad you had Children......

I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW....Welcome to MY World.........

Welcome Jane W. Smith! Yes raw is threatening to many older folk. I have tried to talk to some I care about but they are quite resistant. I am in my 5th decade and am still transitioning. As your friends see your success and health they will be more concerned about accomodating your choice rather than trying to tempt you back.

I'm so glad to see it's picking up some steam here in the Midwest. I'm praying that as it gains popularity we'll see a restaurant pop up!
Keep it up =)

Thanks all for making me feel so welcome so quickly. And a special thanks t spicyfull who went me a separate message about navigating this web site. I've got alot to learn.
Big news today -- 4 weeks raw, and feeling much more comfortable about the whole deal. I think I won't have to buy som much food this weekend. In February I'm going to buy a dehydrator. I'll get an Excalibur for sure, but am still wondering about the 5 tray vs. 9 tray issue. Any thoughts?
