Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there know a lot about the Vitamix blender and what you think of it good or bad. I've heard it is supposed to be really good and easy to use but I also heard that the powerful motor heats up and destroys a lot of the nutrients. What is everyones opinion either from what you've heard or personal experience? THANK YOU AGAIN!

I bought one, and I love it and use it every day.
Yes, the motor will heat up, and the friction alone will heat up too - but only after at least 2 minutes of running, and most things take about 15 seconds.

Thanks for your opinion Kyle! That what I was thinking that if things blend so quick than it wouldn't have much time to heat up. :) Thanks again!

Hey MaineMomof4 - I too have the VM and use it every day, sometimes 2 or more times and absolutely LOVE it! I find too that nothing I have made has heated up. When I clean it? I put warm water in it w/dish deter and do let that go for a bit (longer then anything I've blended) and THAT has heated up.
Well worth the money. I did have an Oster blender and bought this one. Best investment, besides the 9-tray Excalibur dehydrator. So worth it for Green Smoothies. Quick to fix the food, easy to clean. I travel down to my daughter's with it.

I, too, own a vitamix. I consider the purchase of my vitamix the best spent money--it is awsome. Use it at least once a day, usually more if I'm preparing meals that day. Between that and the food processor, I am solid.
I also love my vitamix. Like everyone else said it is pretty powerful. I used to have an ooster blender that used to bog down and a lot of the food would get stuck. It is extremely easy to use and Now I make my same recipes as before and it blends them nicely. I made raw fudge in it and wow what a difference from my other blender. Clean up is easy only taking less than a minute. My only complaint is that fact that the pitcher is plastic. For spending $500.00 I expected it to be either glass or chrome (like the old ones). But I definately love it anyway!

I thought the same thing, but I like plastic. Not as heavy as my Oster one was.

I love using the vitamix for all my recipes and smoothies. It makes everything so much easier. I've been throwing a lot of the food processor recipes in the Vitamix instead of the food processor.
A lot of people say that if you can stick your finger in the mixture without it being too hot then you are ok. I usually run it and if it feels like it's approaching that point, stop it, and run it again in a little while.

2-Life Health Products has a pretty comprehensive blender comparison chart on their site (as well as juicers and/or dehydrators). Also, if you give them you e-mail address, they'll send you a coupon for whichever one you're interested in or both if you haven't quite decided yet. With the coupon, the price would be $319 for either one (I believe without the coupon they are $399 and $359 respectively, but I stand to be corrected), plus no shipping/sales tax. I've ordered from these folks before and have been quite pleased with them. I'm kinda leaning toward the VM myself, largely because it's been around so long and has a good "track record" so to speak.
Anyway, I thought I'm pass along the coupon information in case anyone was interested.
I've had mine for about a week. I never thought I could have a love affair with an appliance. I also can't believe I waited this long to buy one.
Yesterday I made green smoothies, almond milk, guacamole, salsa, watermelon juice & soup.

I bought mine online at ebay for under $200, and got an older model; the one that has a metal container. I love it, and it keeps my cold stuff really cold. Great for my morning smoothies when I throw in young coconut water and meat, frozen bananas and raw almond butter. :) YUM!!

Besides all the glowing reviews you have already heard...I have the Vita-mix 5000.
There is nothing in this world like throwing together nuts, orange & some other goodies & coming up with the most AWESOME Raw Vegan Cheese dip-so smooth & creamy...It is so worth it. ;)
I use my Vita-mix at least 2-3 times daily. I did not get it right away...but I now know that it is the best Raw investment yet. :)

A wonderful appliance.....Two things that happened to me.....The base of mine cracked and was starting to grow mold. I called the company and it turned out I was about a week away from the warranty expiring. It's 7 years! They replaced it with no questions asked. Great company to deal with. Also, twice now, it has shut down when it was overworked. I thought I burned out the motor....It just needed a break. The stuff I was blending wasn't moving and I wasn't watching it. It was fine after a little while.
BUY IT!!

I own a Vita Mix. Love this product! I don't have a juicer so this is the next best thing. I get a whole food juice and smoothie all in one. They do have a seven year warranty also that makes it a great investment for your kitchen.
