Hi Everyone! I Am New At This New Raw Food Stuff. I Am Originally From Wisconsin So I Was Brought Up On Meat And Potatos. I Have Always Admired Vegitarians For There Dedication And I Am Sure This Diet Will Be Harder For Me To Adjust To On My Own. I Am Very Excited About Trying It Though. I Just Can't Seem To Lose The Weight I Gained When I Lived In Germany A Couple Years Ago. The Problem Is My Husband Will Be Coming Home From Iraq Soon And He Will Expect The Usual Food I Make: French Fries, Steak, Hambergers....... He Won't Convert To My New Way Of Living. I Am Sure I Am Not The Only One Out There With This Problem. I Am Just Afraid If I Make Two Separate Meals I Will Want What He Is Having. So If Anyone Out There Can Give Me Advice On What To Do I Would Really Appreciate It!

I usually do make 2 seperate but complimentary meals for us. A huge salad for me and a regular meal for him with the smaller salad. Little by little he has become more raw and is liking it because I didn't make a big deal out of it. I just have raw goodies around he likes. Fresh fruits and nuts on the counter etc. My hubby does all the housework...making him dinner is the least I can do.
You've made a change and that's awesome...but my thought is that you can't make your dh change especially after just getting back home. Welcome him with open arms. WHen he is safe and sound relish it...spring the bananas on him later...you 2 are going to have to get to know each other all over again anyway...and you're going to be glowing from raw when he gets back! He'll be curious...

Its the same in my home. My spouse and son are not raw. I am raw. They have grown in the last 2 months to sample some things that look close to cooked foods but they would never be 100% raw. My sons fruit intake has increased 100% since Ive been raw. He loves it! I usually make seperate things. Like one night I made my spouse shrimp and mozzarella sticks!! and I had a veggie salad and then a fruit salad. Ya know how hard it is to not eat mozza sticks LOL. I might make raw onion rings for those times LOL
I would just make something equally as tasty so you don't get tempted. :D

WOW, you do the Monkeyboy thing.....he will capitalize the first letter of every word too. :p
Why panic? Why not include more raw than VANISH everything in sight? YOu can easily give him options, like grilled chicken vs fried and have a nice salad plate, raw dip for raw chips. Get creative.......and what you eat is your decision.

Ingredients your gonna need:
1 large sweet onion. I don't think a cooking onion would taste as nice but I'm sure you could use it if you like the tang.
Cut your onion into circles.
Dip it in coating #2 and then into #1. #2 coating will stick because onion is naturally moist.
1st coating
4 tbs. olive oil
2 tbs. water
Sea salt to taste
2nd coating:
1 cup ground golden flax seeds
1/2 cup ground unsoaked almonds
1-2 tsp. paprika
Sea salt and pepper to season
Take each onion ring, dip it into the 2nd coating, then into the 1st coating and then back into the 2nd coating.
Take the the coated onion rings and put them on dehydrator trays (without teflex sheets) and dehydrate the rings for about 10-14 hrs at 105 degrees F. or until crispy.
Serve them with any raw sauce you enjoy.

LOL! Billyne! I LOVED Moms Mabley! I am going to google her. I didn't know that quote came from her. Maybe that is not PC but I am past that.
I am thinking that alot of veterans need raw to detox from what they have been exposed to xanth. I know that you are not going to convert him. Just keep plenty of good raw food around. Get the juicer out and make him delicious juice with a banana in it to help fill him up before he gets to the eggs and bacon. (Peel a bunch of oranges keeping the white part for the vitamin C and juice that and blend with a banana.) Kinda tricky deceptive. You can sit and peel the oranges while watching TV or something like that and then put them in the fridge in a plastic bag.
My husband was ill recently and he accepted my green juices although normally he hates that stuff. Just cilantro or spinach juiced with lemon or lime.

Thanks For All Your Great Advice. I Know My Husband Will Understand Me Making This Huge Turn In Life. And I Also Know He Hates Fruit And Veggies But I Know Not To Push Him Into The Same Thing As Me. I Just Hope Gradually He Will Accept Some Of The Things I Make And He Can Injoy It Too. And I Defanately Agree That It Would Be A Great Way For A Soldier To Detox From All That Garbage He Eats In Iraq. When They Come Back And We Do Our Famous B-b-q's I Will Make Great Alternatives That Everyone Can Enjoy Along With There Meats So They Can See What This All About.
