Mine should be here any day now (9 tray Excalibur w/ timer) and I can't wait. Alissa's book & dvd are on the way too. I'm so excited to make new things.
For those that have the dehydrator, do you use it often and like it?

Mine seems to be going 24-7 with all kinds of concoctions from fruit leather to "warming" up foods to melting down coconut butter.....One of my goals is to plan ahead enough on the week ends to whip up many of alissa's recipes for future use....I've had it over a year now and mostly dehydrate fruit for "chips" as all my family (and friends) love them....have fun with it, you'll like it! It's great for crackers and pizzas too....it' my "un-oven" :D ...sitting right next to my blender and food processor! (my raw kitchen island)! I have an Omega juicer too that works overtime!

I really don't use mine much. I did when I first got it. But then I realized a lot of that food I was making was going to waste. I'd either make recipes that I wound up not liking. Or I'd have a craving for something and then not want it after I ate it the first time. I did do a lot of cranberries when they were in the store. I guess for the most part I really prefer fresh food like salads and cut up veggies instead of dehyrdated foods.

I just got my excalibur dehydrator 2 weeks ago, and I've used it almost every day. I make the banana crepes alot, flax crackers, onion bread, and today I'm making the pizza bread. Oh yeah, and I make the marinated portabello mushrooms alot in it. It's basically how I "cook" now. Love it. :)

I found after 2 times I just didn't use it so I sent it to Trinity...is it there yet T? I think she'll make great use of it! It was a gift from my brother...which was very sweet...but I passed the gift on the the rightful owner.

Yes I just LOVE my dehydrator. I got it last month and have used it 3 times a week ever since.
My faves: onion bread, pest stuffed mushrooms, tomato rawviolis.

I just got my 9 drawer last week. I use it almost every day. It's hard keeping the family in onion bread. :D

For the first 5 years I used it pretty often! Now I mostly use it for my family & friends, not so much myself. I am enjoying fresh whole fruits & greens mostly.

I love it. However, I go through phases. Some weeks it's green smoothies, other weeks it's dehydrated foods. I think it is a great investment.

LOOOOTS!
I use it to make 'heavier' meals when I want something different. Also for drying out excess fruit from the trees.
Plus flax crackers (oh yummy flax crackers, how I love thee.)
And I make things like stock powder, some desserts like cinnamon scrolls, sometimes veg chips, and use it to help marinade veggies.
I love dehydrators.

Mine is always running, but not necessarily with "recipes" - often it's just drying tomatoes that were beginning to change, nut milk pulp, and stuff like that.
Right now I have some red grapes in there that were kinda funky looking (not moldy, but just not very "desirable").

Ah yes, the 'dry the ton of tomatoes' trick.
That's also a favourite of mine!
