Oh, what a terrible and personal title for this thread!!!!

No, I am not a terrible teen, but a 32 year old mother of two who has suffered from acne in one place or another (face, back, etc) from the age of 12. Everything you can think of to combat it, I have done it, EVEN RAW 8 years ago.

Here I am, trying it again, but this time with LOTS of greens and a few other differences.

I just want to say that I have started the 30 day challenge (hope to go WAY longer than 30 days), but I'm focusing especially to see if this affliction is FINALLY cleared up. After years and years of specialist visits of both the allopathic and complementary kind and THOUSANDS of dollars in herbs, crystals, steroids, hormones, nutritional supplements, needles (acupuncture) etc, I think this might be a go-er, and I just wanted to let you all know (for accountability reasons) that if this lifestyle helps me where nothing else has, I plan to laud its praises from the rooftops and convert everyone I can!!!!!!!

I love this site and have been given some great advice in the forums already.
I hope this is an OK place to write this (have started the journal), I noticed other people doing the 'goal for 2007' thing, and I thought anyone else with acne, herpes simplex, too many colds every year, could let me be the guinea pig and see how I go!!

Imagine your skin will clear as the rest of you clears -- good luck in 2007!

Hi B,

I can relate to your pain of having acne and trying almost everything for acne. Acne is also the main reason that I started this raw path. Hope what I will tell you will give you some encouragement. I had cystic acne last year before I started raw. My acne has been improving every month since raw, very gradually though. I get, on average, one less red pimple every month. At this rate of improvement, I should be acne-free sometimes this year. My current condition is: white heads on forehead, 1-3 small red pimples on chin. 10 months ago before raw, I had white heads on forehead, cheeks & nose, 5-7 cysts on chin.

Oh, I forgot to add that my scars(red marks) from acne disappear very quickly since raw. Instead of lasting for a year, they last less than a month. :)

Linda, that's fantastic!

My acne used to be on my face, now it's usually my back or sometimes a bit on my neck. I have this feeling that if I REALLY up my green intake i.e. as smoothies and juices, rather than just salads, I will find that that makes the biggest difference. I always thought it had to do with omegas and that that would be the answer, but last night I got the really strong feeling that green juices will have a profound affect on my health in all areas, including my skin.

Thanks so much for responding. I know that the majority of people do this for weight loss, so I just wanted other forum readers (I know you're not a newbie, but especially newbies) to know that there aer other reasons to do this, especially if it works for me!

Best of luck to you!

I've been eating raw since July and I've noticed a difference. My daughter who is 12 has had terrible acne for over a year. She's now eating vegetarian with a lot of raw. She has had a huge improvement - we're attributing it to eliminating milk. When she hangs out with friends she'll eat cheese pizza - bamm break outs again. She's also told me it causes "gunk" in her throat. I'm so happy she's noticing it and it doesn't have to come from mom!
