there are a lot of raw figures out there -
some are healthy & full of life force
some obviously not.
some teach, consult, market, preach
& are big promoters of "super-foods"
but are they living it???
ok
some live it AND look it
others definitely don't.
who do you think is an excellent raw role model?

Storm and Jinjee Talifero...their whole family, really. They demonstrate how raw works in the real world, raising children, doing activities, the whole nine yards, etc. A lot of other raw figures out there live lifestyles that are simply too unrealistic for most people to follow.

Alissa for sure and I second Storm and Jinjee and their growing family. They walk it and live it...Juliano is a spaz even with yoga and I love that he made it pop here in SoCal... (as someone who spazs I say this with love)
There are alot of people right here that I admire too...

Myself :). Personally, I think we should all be our own role models.
I also think revvell is a good role model; one of the few who remains consistent and steady since the beginning (since I've been here anyway).

Personally, I don't look to others as role models per se. I mean, I get inspired by others (not all necessarily leaders in the raw food movement either - many people right here on this very forum inspire me constantly with their dedication to this lifestyle, etc.) but I choose to eat raw because of how it makes me feel (and look, I guess) and not because "so and so looks this way or says xyz".
Some people do not think Victoria B. is the epitomy of what someone who is a raw role model "should" look like, but I still get a lot of wonderful advice and information from her material and her talks and she and her family are inspirational to me regardless to the fact that she may not look as others think she should look size-wise.

I also see Storm and Jinjee - www.thegardendiet.com (http://www.thegardendiet.com) - as good role models. I have spoken with them and know that they have passed up many many opportunities to make a lot of money by selling supplements because they don't believe that people need them. I know that they are very ethical about everything that they do. To me it shows a lot of integrity that they would not compromise their beliefs in order to generate substantial money.
They have been raw vegan's for a long time (Storm has been raw vegan for 30 years) and most of their kids have been 100% raw vegan for their whole lives.
They have also started many non-profit organizations like "Take a Fruit Break" (http://www.takeafruitbreak.com/index.html) .
Hope this helps,
Lisa

I never heard of Storm and Jinjee until today. What a beautiful family. And he is one hunka hunka... I can't believe he is in his 50's!!!
Ok... I'm inspired now. There must be a way to get my body back into shape after menopause. I'm only about 10 pounds overweight.. but the loose baggy skin is what's killing me... I'm gonna go onto orange juice!

Yeah, I'd say Storm and Jinjee were two of the most inspiring raw people for me.
It was through finding their website that I realised raw could be anything more than a kooky fad. Just a family looking healthy and full of energy and a story that was quite fascinating.
The Daily Raw Inspiration was such a help to me in the beginning.
I semi regularly go to Storm's blog, very well written and very interesting.
And I still CANNOT get over Jingee's figure, I mean how is that possible after FOUR kids? sigh...
Also, people on this forum are pretty inspiring, RawPreistess to name just one (I cannot get over her before and after photos, are they REALLY the same person? Unbelievable!) But inspiration comes from so many places, and often not just from raw foodists (hmmm. sounding like Rawkinloc's echo here).
I think it's the people who give us strength that really have the positive thing happening, regardless of what they teach (or how they look).

I know!! .. those photos of her before and after pregnancy are just insane! She looks so beautiful and her skin is such a beautiful color and looks so flawless. I really hope going raw can do something like that for me, I've never had really pretty skin like that. and no stretch marks! (on jinjee!)

I like to show men pictures of Storm Talifero when they think that the raw food diet doesn't give them enough protein.

Amen to that...it's hard enough to make people believe that being vegan is a healthy way to live, let alone raw vegan! But llissomllama, you're right; we're all role models! In fact, people area always commenting about how much energy I have, and I tell them about what I eat. Generally the reaction is somewhat of a raised eyebrow and a snide comment, but at least it's getting out there...lol.
