Can an oven be used as a dehydrator?

Nope. I don't believe it gets "low" enough in the temperature. Do a banana search (see banana up top  ) and I know this has been discussed a lot.

Here's links chichi...
My MIL has a convection oven that blows hot air and starting temp is 100 degrees so it could probably be used but it's one slick digital expensive machine! A regular oven doesn't get the air flow nor the low temp....tho some people here have done it on warm with the oven door cracked open.

I have the same type of oven. It is a convection also. Will that work for dehydrated recipes.

I agree with Michigan Roman...check the temp with a thermometer to make sure it isn't too hot...it should work fine if it is accurate. Just remmeber to flip the food...

Keep in mind though a dehydrator has a fan that is also vital to dehydrating the foods and preventing mold or bacteria from growing.
I'm not sure about other types of "ovens"...
dunno
