View Full Version : Where do we fit?

I went to the curezone website tonight and read posts in the Irritable bowel syndrome forum. This lead me to a Liver Flush forum. I have been reading on raw food forums for so long I had to remind myself that these people are not raw.
Where do these type of forums fit with raw foodists? Do we need liver flushes? Will our livers automatically dssolve stones over time?
The person that got us started with raw foods mentioned something about doing a liver flush some time but we haven't been in touch for a few months.
Does anyone here do specific cleanses and flushes etc., or is just being raw enough?

Jeanne,

The way that I understand it is that if we supply the body with the raw materials and vital energy that it needs, the body becomes a very efficient self-healing and self-cleansing organism. Looking at it from this perspective, no, we don't need flushes that other people do if we are willing to wait for the body to do its thing. But, todays society has the attitude of "I want it yesterday!" So the differant flushs are used to speed up the process.
It really depends on how patient you are and how long your willing to wait for your body to correct itself.

I hope this makes sense and helps a little.

I agree with Kirk!

Nora Lenz of http://rawschool.com practices Natural Hygiene and she is one of my mentors in the raw foods lifestyle.

She and other NH'ers suggest the same thing Kirk mentioned about giving the body what it needs and allowing it time to reverse whatever ailment and heal itself. It may take time especially depending on our past diet, but it will happen...the body will cleanse, detoxify and heal itself. But as Kirk stated, we want to rush/speed-up the process, so we "help" it along with colonics, liver flushes/cleanses, herbs, etc.

I used to do a lot of that stuff, but now I don't. But everyone is different and not everyone can or desires to wait. I don't know that doing such things is harmful or not in the long run...but many folks testify to these methods.

So...I guess the bottom line is, if we choose to do those things, they're there for us to do them...but if we give the body the right things in terms of foods then we don't HAVE to do those things...we just have to have patience.

I agree with the patience part especially. Remember the K.I.S.S. philosophy.....Keep It Simple Sweetie! When I get frustrated then I look for extra answers to make things happen faster. Then it gets to be too much for me and overwhelming.......then I want to quit cause it's too hard......when I go back to simple.......all is better.

All your replies are such a relief to read. I am all for the patience part. There are people urging me in all kinds of directions to do this or that so I start to feel like an avoider or a procrastinater..but truly, I do best trying to quietIy sense what my body/spirit is telling me.
Sometimes just don't know yet and I'm ok with not knowing because at some point I get an answer and I usually feel grounded in what direction to take when I let it happen naturally.
The reason I brought this up is because my son has irritable bowel syndrome. He is mildly retarded and needs help researching. I thought it would be good to get other's view points. He too is listening to what his body is telling him. He is the happiest he's ever been with the raw food lifestyle, is more independent than he ever has been. He even makes juices for all of us sometimes.
Thanks you guys.
