Hello, I'm a 39 year old female and homeschooling mom of one,new to raw foods, I stumbled across raw foods after hearing about carol alt , I have a few female issues I like to resolve and just have optimum health along with my family. Thay all say they're willing to change. A drug them along on a vegetarian diet once(all cooked) what a disaster. My husband lost weight and his coworkers commented on how bad he looked.so I hope this does'nt do that!I do feel overwhelmed at getting started. The cookbooks I've bought so far are very involved.Any words of encouragement or advice would be most welcome.

First off. Welcome. Apparently the vegetarian diet was lacking. If you buy Alissa's book - do you have it? But if you buy that book, you will not need any others. AND, if you follow a 100% raw vegan diet for 30-days, I personally guarantee you will feel AND look fabulous! There are not many guarantees in life, but this is a sure thing.
Please don't feel overwhelmed. Use the banana up top to do a search for whatever it is you want info on. I have learned so much.
My health HAS improved. No more migraines. I've had them my entire 53 years living on Earth. My dead thyroid is now functioning - doc is baffled - hee hee!
My skin is glowing. My eyes sparkle.
Oh yeah, I've dropped over 35 pounds since August. I feel alive. I guarantee you and your family will too - provided you give it your all.
Good luck!

Sometimes we let what other people say influence us to such a degree we do what they might want "STOP" and that is what you did. Apparently no one else mentioned "how bad your husband looked". That is why one must do what they think is best for him/herself and ecnore the naysayers.

If your Family is willing to Change, Why not take them for another ride. Only by experiencing different things will you find your what you are truly seeking and your Body will be the wittness.

I am sure you know Carol Alt eats raw meat. I don't think anyone here does but its a Journey and this, should you take it, will be your Journey.

I Applaud you for Seeking a Healthy LifeStyle for your Family. I happen to think that is one of our roles, being a Wife and Mother.

Help is Always here should you need it. We are all traveling on different Journeys with one Goal, helping and holding each other up, lest one fall for when one fall we all feel the loss.

I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW....Welcome to MY World............

Welcome blubird!

I'm glad you are giving raw a chance.

Just leave fruits out for the kids to nosh on and they'll transition themselves guaranteed.

I do enjoy Alissa's book and she lays out the month in menus and shopping lists which is nice. For a super simple book I like Raw Food Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet.

Of course there are recipes all over this website too and great friendly advice...you will find what appeals to your family's tastes.

Many of us have left physical ailments behind with a change in diet and eating more fresh foods....
