Hello Everyone,

How do I stop the habit of eating when I am not hungry? A HUGE problem for me. Anyone?

You could look at it another way. Instead of trying to abstain from eating when you are not hungry, make sure that what you do eat is going to do you some good. Buy extra fruit and veg, raw nuts and raw seeds. If you're trying to lose weight then focus more on the fruit and veg. By the way, your avatar made me laugh when I first saw it. Very funny, and scary at the same time lol :D

:raises hand: yes yes, same here.

something ive dealt with the past 2 years. BUT, ive decided that its no longer an issues for me...it has helped me a lot to say "ok, i overeat." and then to go "not anymore! i have no problem whatsoever with overeating" and to start from there. what you think comes true.

i suggest:

a) positive thinking, always always always
b) eating completely raw. this will help.
c) meditation/prayer - whichever youre more comfortable with
d) more positive, encouraging, reaffirming thinking
e) not getting down on yourself for it.

good luck to you. there are many here with experience in this arena for support :)

I ask myself: why am I overeating? What feeling am I inappropriately nurturing with food? If I wait quietly, I get a response from my guts: frustration, loneliness....... Then I can at least recognize what fear-propelled emotion is hounding my appetite. Meditation helps, but so far %100 eating raw is most effective for toning it down. It's an on-going journey.

They say that you can't back your way into heaven! Ha! ha! The only way to avoid a bad habit...is to be MORE enthusiastic about a good one to replace it with! I generally agree.

-The above suggestions are wonderful. Why bother to NOT eat? Go ahead and stuff yourself....just make sure it's healthy raw food, or lo-cal/lo-fat transitional foods...if that's where you're at in the transition process.

-Success and peace to you.

Hey

Have you tried OA (overeaters anoynmous)? It's a 12 step programe for peopel with eating problems. Check out www.oa.org

I've been in over 3 years and it's really helped me, I used to binge at least once a day (often I'd spend whole days bingeing) and now I very rarely overeat.

I have found since going 100% raw? My cravings and needs are satisfied. I am having the opposite problem. I don't always EAT! Then I end up feeling awful!
Green smoothies have been my saving grace. They are VERY filling, easy to make, and a great source of getting a lot of food, good food in your system quickly.
Try some green smoothies... :D
