God help me...I've got all this raw and wonderful food in my house and I still haven't done it. I'm having a grapefruit before bed tonight to set my tastebuds, which seems to be the problem. When I wake up in the am, I CRAVE toast with butter and jelly.....LITERALLY CRAVE IT!

I also make up excuses for myself, the biggest hurdle to get over is that I'm afraid of sending toxins into my milk supply for my 9 month old. I keep telling myself it may not happen and "wouldn't nature protect him?" but I just don't know. Then I remind myself that no doctor ever says when a mom wants to be healthier or lose weight, "make sure you cook your food!"

and I just wanted to say that I ate a crisp sweet ripe red pepper, for I think the first time and was delicious. I cut it up for my raw guacamole and tasted it and had a hard time putting it in b/c I wanted to eat it. Isn't it sad, I think I've only ever eaten raw green pepper....that is sad.

so, send me good vibes and if anyone knows anything about sending toxins to my breastmilk (well, avoiding that actually :p ) please let me know.

Sarah,

Hi!

I just wanted to tell you that I started eating raw when I was nursing too. My daughter was 5 months old, breastfed exclusively. I wouldn't worry too much about sending toxins into your milk. My daughter never suffered from me giong raw, to the contrart it made her my most healthy baby ever (she is #5). So if you really do want to do what is best for your baby, raw is it! Also breastfeeding and raw really hepled me to shed pounds so fast, it was amazing!

Try to stay away fromthe toast. If you are feeding your whole family it can be tough at first because unless they are going raw with you, you can't just chuck all the bad stuff. Just to help you out though here is a nice mental image for you. Bread is made with flour. If you are eating white bread then you are eating white flour. Did you ever make one of those molds when you were in elementary school using water and flour to make a paste? Well I know you wouldn't have wanted to eat that! Flour is really bad for you. It clogs up your inside and makes it hard to eliminate anything. When you add water to flour it becomes really pasty. That is what you are putting into your system.

I know it smells great. That is the kicker for me. However my shampoo smells great, my conditioner smells great, the candle on my table smell fabulous! BUT I'm not going to eat them!

Keep coming to this board for inspiration and advice! you CAN do it!

Good luck with your journey. You will not regret it! :D

sending lots of good wishes your way.

you know you said about cravings, the longer you stay raw you will find your taste changes and you will find that cooked things don't appeal so much anymore.

Best wishes :)

Don't worry, that probably contributes more harm than any past toxins ;)

Just do what you can starting now.
You'll do great. The sooner the better, right?

Best,

If you make yourself something sweet like the apple cookies or apple muffins, then you can have those in the morning. I crave something sweet and carbohydrate in the mornings too... but I find the apple cookies from the GoneRaw website satisfy that urge.

thank you everyone! I did start today and have done wonderful all day. When I start something new, the first day is always the hardest and now that day 1 is almost done, I feel I've accomplished something and can't wait until tomorrow!

I am rather hungry tonight, but I'm snacking on cheap veggies--I figure to start off, it's ok if I eat an insane amount of avocados just to get me into the groove--I ate three mashed into guacamole today and ate a whole bag (head?) of celery with it. I didn't buy more avocados, so tomorrow I'll lay off the high fat.

Getting hungry is the best way to go off the diet.
Go get a bunch of bananas and eat them ALL!
Eat until you are full...
