Hi Elaine,
I was going to post something that i found interesting about ginger, so glad you beat me to it :) :) .
I was reading that ginger helps you to lose fat so i cut up a couple of slices and pour water over them and drink about 3-4 glasses a day.
Will keep you posted about this, i've been doing it for about a week and i do feel lighter. I won't get on the scales yet, i think i will wait until the end of the week.
I have a problem drinking water so adding the ginger makes the water more interesting and so i'm drinking more of it.

Ginger is a good source of Vitamin C, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.
This site gives all the details on the nutritional value of ginger.

I LOVE ginger too... I go through big chunks at a time. I put it in everything!

It is supposedly supposed to help with nausea (although when I was pregnant I used to eat is because I thought it would make me feel better..... didn't work!)
From the book Food Your Miracle Medicine
Can help thin the blood and prevent clots
Ginger is great to eat when you have the flu - antiviral properties
Used in Asia to treat nausea (supposedly comparable to Dramamine), vomiting, headavhe, chest congestion, cholera, colds, diarrhea, stomach ache, rheumatism, and nervous diseases.
Helps prevent migraines and osteoarthritis. Relieves symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Acts as an antithrombotic and anti inflammatory agent. Antibiotic. Anti ulcer agent.... Also has anti depressant, antidiarrheal and strong antioxidant activity. Also anti-cancer...

GOOD STUFF!!! Keep eating... It didn't say anything aout ODing on Ginger

In Peru they sell "Hot" ginger to warm up "Cold" women. It's supposed to improve sex drive. Thats never a bad thing!

In the culture I was brought up in, where tcm food principles are the base of eating, any food can cause imbalance due to excess. It can disturb the upper stomach easily according to my herbalist when over consumed.

Roots are very concentrated and ginger is a warming food that envigorates the body. Primarly used for garnish or medicinal reasons.
