Hello to everyone out there! I am Vickie, not necessarily new to Raw Food, but having a heckuva time getting past the third day crave.
I live in Seattle. I am lucky, my sweetheart understands my quest for health, but...not so good to himself about eating. Those I work with think I'm a wee-bit past strange. (seaweed? what?)
To give you a quick lo-down on me and my health, I'm 46 (well, almost) and really started with good health at 39. I had severe endometriosis for 23 years (one of the worst cases they'd seen) but found a good Dr and am now free of it completely. at the time I weighed 112, now I'm 138 (and approx 5'4")
However, I do believe there's some fallout from being so sick - immune system, chemical sensitivity (to odors and some foods), and fatigue when I'm eating badly. After my surgery, (a couple years after) I ran some short triathlons, have done yoga of different sorts, love to hike, etc. Motivation is tough since I'm on a rotating schedule at work.
I'm in good health now, but just having a really hard time cleaning up the eating thing. I live with three guys - 14, 18 and 44...all chip and dip lovers and video game nut-zoids.
I do feel way better when I eat healthy, and generally eat well - but when it goes, it goes bad....straight to the Cheetos. I've done a week here and there where I've been almost completely raw, and feel WAY better. It's just that darned 3-day thing that kicks in !
Anyhoo...it's just time. Time to clean up my eating, clean and simplify my home, clean up my image - self and otherwise.
To give you a quick snippet of my days / weeks: I work second shift for a couple more weeks, am going full time to school to complete a Masters Program, and once I'm on first again in a few weeks, I'll be re-starting yoga. Schedule is tough, but once I get the routine I'm good. I have a few good health food stores close by or on the way to work, so that's good.
anyhoo, I am looking forward to 'meeting' ya'll, and learning...
