View Full Version : Feedback on a typical eating day for me?

I am still wondering if I actually will lose my "mangut" - So any feedback would be great.
Today:
Breakfast:
Green juice (kale, celery, apple, lemon and ginger - all organic)
small tangerine
5 strawberries
Lunch:
mixed green salad with cherry tomatoes, homemade dressing (tahini, olive oil, honey, garlic)
Lara Bar
Dinner:
Almond butter lettuce leaves with honey drizzel
one can of Amy/Brian coconut juice
I just feel "clogged". Many of the books I am reading (including Alissa's) state that detoxing takes a few weeks. I am already on week four and feel gassy and bloated but not heavy. I am just hoping I have major cleansing going on.
The above menu is pretty typical - especially breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I chop nuts and sprinkle on my salads at night.
Any input would be great. I dont want to be one of those newbies that back out because I feel that this way of eating leaves me eternally bloated and gassy!!!!
Smiles,
Rob

How are your BM's and how were they pre-raw? I know for me, personally, mine sucked big time...was "lucky" if I went once a week! I was pretty clogged up and even after going raw and being raw for a while, my colon was still backed up. I got ONE colonic and did enemas at home and much of that subsided, including being really bloated and gassy (sorry if this is TMI, but it's just a fact)
I realize that raw WILL (and would have in my case) eventually moved all of that garbage out of my colon, but I wasn't willing to wait at the time.
Just a thought...doesn't sound like it's what you're currently eating from the looks of your dietary intake, so that's why I am asking you about your bowel habits both now and before going raw.

Try green smoothies - they'll clean you out.
Your diet sounds very healthy. It does take time for your colon to adapt to digesting raw food. Maybe some fermented food would help - do you like sauerkraut?

I was just thinking about Revvell said........not enough food !!!!! Where does water fit in? How is exercise fitting in?
Like Rawkinlocs said, it will eventually all eliminate but if you cannot wait,
have you considered doing all fruit in the morning until noon? Fruits have natural cleanser and the most digestible friendly of all foods. Apple are colon friendly! How bout fruit in the morning and then 2-3 hours later then have a green juice.

How much of each of those are you eating? My morning smoothie is at least 400 grams and I just ate a smoothie and made some more.
You'll probably get what I got: A few weeks after I started raw, I had a complete run-through of the digestive system. After that, no more lettuce tatters come out.

Dang, you aren't eating much... maybe you need to eat more to speed up your metabolism.
Do you exercise?
My typical day looks more like this:
7 am: coffee (I know.. I know) with 3 raw cookies
9 am: Smoothie made with 2 bananas, a 1 inch slice of fresh pineapple and a cup of berries
10:30: A big ole slice of carrot cake or cheesecake and a BIG salad
noon: a couple of dates filled with walnuts and an apple
2 or 3 pm: Today I had 3 crackers piled with raw egg salad YUM!
5:30 or 6 pm: A slice of carrot cake
Before I go to bed, I'll eat an orange or something
You aren't eating enough to feed a mouse!

I also think you need to up the food...
I would start each day with fruits...esp Green smoothies..bananas, water, spinach or kale & berries...then for lunch try...
Something like a pate' & salad with flax crackers.
I have found flax seed crackers to be great for (like my Grandma used to say)..a *pusher.* If yoou can't find the crackers & don't want to make them...try adding some grinded in a coffee grinder to you salads/smoothies.
Again-wait a few hours & then more fruit...
With Raw-I find that I need to eat small portions but often for best results..& remember to vary your foods & have fun with this journey...
Hope this helps.. :)

Fat=clogged, at least in my experience. Try subbing the tahini, etc. for fresh sweet, juicy fruit-as much as you want!- for a few days and see how you feel.

Rawrobert, I don't know about you but after a few weeks on raw I generally will go and have a colonic. That really helps me with the bloating. I feel really cleaned out afterwards. I hope that once I am really cleaned out that bloated feeling won't rear its ugly head too often and I can dispense with the colonics. I don't have them that often. I think last year I had 3 or 4 over the entire year.

Thank you for asking. My BMs aren't that fabulous. (Can they be fabulous lol?) Sounds funny to say that I was wanting amazing BMs but I still feel "backed up". I am drinking some flax seed oil and might do a fast to see if i can unclog it. I have done colon therapy in the past so maybe I'll go and see if that helps. Many thanks.

Hi rawrobert,
It's really inspiring to see your perseverence in eating raw. In my experience,
bowels need lots of clean water - I go for Fiji or Evian, around 8 cups per day - this always works well for me. Although the fruits and vegies do contain water, the additional water should work wonders.
I had bowel problems about 7 years ago before I went raw and had a hair and saliva test - they found that I was saturated with Mercury from my fillings. It might be worthwhile having a mineral/heavy metal analysis - you never know what might be clogging your system.
By the way, my bowels have been great since I detoxed the mercury and even better since going raw - with the addition of the water.
Good luck.

Hi bittersweet -
I detoxed from mercury with a combination of supplements and raw food regimes that my 'naturopath' recommended. I've put her in inverted commas because she has a PHD in Medicine, many other credentials and over 25 years experience of medical practice.
