hey all,

i was wondering if anyone could post tips on how they make raw ice cream? i don't have a vita-mix, or champion juicer, so if your method involves the use of those particular pieces of equipment it wont help :( (i DO have a magic bullet, a regular blender and a regular food processor..mayb they could help!)

like; which ingredients are best to use as a base? bananas, or cashews? and how do you keep it solid and un-liquidy?

i really really hope these questions make sense and someone out there can give some advice!

thankyou all :)

I peel bananas, then break them in thirds and freeze them in freezer bags. When I want ice cream, I put the frozen bananas in the food processor and whip them up.. .YUM!

I do the same as RowanC. This works great. My Daughter can't eat dairy, and when she tried this she loved it.

You can also add flavors. I have used carob powder and frozen strawberries.

This stuff really is good!!!!!!!!

Do a bananna search, Jennabobenna did an ice-cream sandwithh with it I think :)

Ingredients:
Nuts
bananas
and
frozen fruit

- Place a handful of raw (not roasted) cashews or soaked then drained raw almonds in the fruit processor.

- Blend until smooth (can leave slightly grainy for more texture in the ice cream

- Add a bit of water (1-4 tablespoons) to make into a thick cream

- Add chopped frozen fruit (see below for ideas)

- Add a banana to make it thick, smooth and sweet (can be frozen or not)

- Serve right away. If you want it firmer, place it in a container in the freezer until it as thick as you like. If there is any left over, you can store in the freezer in a covered container. Allow time to thaw when you want to eat it again.

For creamy icecream i always use bananas in my base

I also like to use cashew but I blend them into other fruits after the fruits are already pureed so that i don't have to use ice and water, which makes thins freeze in a hard icy kind of way

Soaked almonds made into a milk then blended with cacao powder and bananas makes a chocolate ice cream.
