I have been searching for the perfect treat for my daughter. Something that would incorporate much of the nutrition that she may need for the day.

It came to me in a dream or actually while I was in between sleep and awake.

I ground up some flax seeds, seasame seeds, almond flour, nut butter, ground up rolled oates, 5 dates and a little water from soaked dates. I blended it all up and let my daughter try it. She ate a whole cookie. So maybe she may just like it enough to eat something that I feel is fairly complete.

To half of the dough I added some molasses, because she needs more iron in her diet. Those also tasted very good.

Whatever ground up flours that I had left. I rolled the cookies in them because they were very sticky otherwise.

Now all I have to do is come up with some way to add dried ground up vegetables to the mix. I will keep working on that.

Maybe I will get another dream.

Take Care,

Hi there,
Just joined today.

I like your cookies idea. I have a 14 yr. old who's not too crazy about this "raw" thing. My 3 yr. old loves it.

What about carrots or zucchine? I mean folks make carrot or zucchine breads ... why not in cookies? I might try it .... hmmmmm ....

I make my kids raw oatmeal cookies and they really like them! I use the oatmeal cookie recipe from Julianos uncook book. Also do a search for the avocado chocolate mousse recipe! My kids love it! and have no idea they are eating avocados!

Are you in Rockland County? My husbands family is all there and I lived there for 5 years between there and Westchester. Do you feed your kids an all raw diet? If so what is a typical diet for your kids? I'm just getting started and have 3 small kids and 1 on the way in March. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated on books, website, meal plan ideas, sample menu, ANYTHING! Thanks a million!!

You might get the Boutenko kid's books. Most people say that everything they have fixed for their kids from those books they loved and if you don't tell a child it's raw or that it's good for them it is surprising what they will eat. Call it after their favorite movie character (if it's green call it Shrek this or that) and lots of times they will dive in. Alissa's desserts are "to live for" and you can eat dessert anytime on the raw diet because you are getting whole live nutrition not junk food - a good way to get them started.
