Tonight I had some broccoli at my grandmother's house. The room I was in was sort of dark and I was just snacking on some veggies she had in a plastic bag (she works in a school cafeteria and sometimes gets such leftovers). The broccoli tasted really weird but I didn't really notice that much until a few minutes after I finished. I started getting this nasty taste in my mouth and KNEW I had somehow consumed some dairy. Well I asked my grandmother about it and sure enough, the broccoli had been sitting in shredded skim mozzarella cheese at her school and there was some still sprinkled on/throughout it.
yuck! I feel gross. I always have with dairy. I have this nasty mucusy film and taste in my mouth (the taste I always remember getting after eating dairy, that always grossed me out). Then I started getting some bad thoughts (that I quickly shoved aside) like "well now tomorrow you shouldn't eat as much because it will stop this crap from getting out of you"...but of course I know I wont do that, I CAN'T do that and I know I wont. But inside I don't like this. I feel decieved and gross and dumb and yuck my taste buds and mouth are quite suffering. yuuuck. Will my body detox this quickly or will my body utilize all the grossness and such?
hellllp me ease my mind?

If you want a fast detox, do a water fast. If you don't feel up to it, do a juice fast. If that is still too hard, eat only fruits and vegetables. If you must have something else, eat 100% raw, and the body will detoxify itself.
I myself no longer attempt to fast unless I am doing it with someone...and by that I mean the person is physically there and also fasting. Otherwise it feels completely unnatural and I lose all motivation before day 1 is even over. I have a fairly high metabolism and eat quite a bit.

A green smoothie or two will wash it all away...

If it were me, I would do a fast...a 'fingers down my throat fast' that is. Dairy should be outlawed. Then again, that would only push it underground, and people would start making their own moo-shine.
RAW! :D

How about a saltwater flush or a water cure (drinking 2l water in one go). It doesn't pass through you the normal way, it goes through your colon, flushing it out in the process. It's like colonic irrigation but from above.

Volcanic ash clays, such as bentonite, are another option. These clays can be taken internally without your body absorbing them, and act like a magnet (due to their negative charge) to draw out toxins (which typically carry a positive charge) from the body for elimination through the usual channels. I advise extreme caution with the use of detoxification clays, however, since they often make people nauseous, and induce vomiting when taken in excess.

Um, let's not encourage a young girl with a eating disorder history to resort to this.
Please, tomorrow is a new day. You can start fresh tomorrow with a big bowl of fruit and the dairy will be out in no time.

That is so disgusting and unhealthy. As someone who suffered on and off with bulimia for almost 2 decades, I say don't listen to this advice.
Just flush it down with raw. Eat cucumbers or melons or grapes, or delicious fast-digesting fruit, and it'll get out. It's a small amount, eaten accidentally. Just keep on going.

Thank you :)
I wont be fasting or using the clay though, because I am 15 and also can't afford to lose weight or anything. So I feel at bit better today and I'm starting the day with a huge green smoothie as usual. I wish we had melon! But we don't. I generally just have to purchase the least expensive foods I can find (oranges for like .60 cents a pound!!! bananas for .33 cents a pound, etc) oh but I do wish I had some melon rightn now. Any way, thank you again. I thnk I just sort of needed to vent and be reassured that raw would help it get out of me...I think I sort of felt like it would ruin raw and make any raw food I eat react badly in my body.
So I do feel a bit better, thank you!

Mental note: eating raw does nothing for one's sense of humour. Moving swiftly on then. Next time I'll be sure not to step on anyone's extra sensitive toes

Yes, no water fasting or purging for you Bristol! ;) :)
I'd suggest you eat a lot of watery fruit, like melons, grapes, cukes, tomatoes etc. to help flush it out plus al ot of fluids. Try to get some kind of movement in, dancing or whatever you can do, to help get your blood moving in and out which helps get rid of toxic waste in your body.
You'll be fine, and trust me this won't be the last weird experience you'll have!
P.S. Not everyone here knows about Luner Fey's background.

Lunar Fey, you're awesome. I'm proud of you for coming here for help, and then handling it so well.
Raw will flush it out before you know it! :) Cheers with the green smoothie. :)

Oh indeed, I found it uproariously funny! Some people are just so sensitive don't you agree! :) Everyone should have the exact same sense of humor as everyone else and find the exact same things funny!
Curious. Have you ever had an eating disorder?

 I'm glad someone said it!
As I was reading through the first few responces I was just thinking.....!!!! TRIGGER!!!! OH no...... Bristol!
Ughh.. so THANK YOU girls for saying it.
You sound like, despite the mozerella/brocolli scandal, you are in a good spot. I'm really glad to see you here - last time I was on you were in a really tight spot... so I'm glad you are here now and doing well :o .

Nectarine.......... actually, moo-shine was really funny.
Sorry but, only because I have a history of bulimia, do I find the ol' fingers down your throat trick a little (actually a lot) lame.

She has a long history as people have said, so it's a sensitive issue for some people. Let's not encourage people to purge foods period!!
And LunerFey, I'm glad you are feeling better!

That's a common response Lunarfrey, when one accidentally or even purposely have eaten cooked.
Staying calm serves better for your mind body and spirit. Like another poster stated, the natural clenasers and fiber of raw foods are amazingly doig there job all time.
What's fascinating, that your sense of taste was able to detect FUNK real quickly!!!!! Consider yourself a raw food experiment and shout for joy!!!!!!!!! :p :)
Carry on Carry on :D

It can hardly be said that I was encouraging anyone to purge foods, since, as was pointed out also, some people are and were not aware of this history! Therefore, in the absense of this knowledge, the spirit in which my comments were originally intended should be taken into account. Furthermore, my comments concerning bentonite clay were focused on the elimination of toxins, not foods, hence my warning to exercise moderation so as not to induce nausea!! :D

No worries. It's all good...
Perhaps next time you're making a joke, it may stand a chance of being read as "funny" if you use smileys and such. The :D emoticon is often great for setting up the "mood" for humor.
Not that people don't have a sense of humor or anything... just that some things don't hit people as immediately funny, and many people have different taste as to what is funny. :D
Take care and have a good day! :)

Appreciate the advice, but I am already aware of the function of smileys, hence why I used one. Here's my original comment.

I also thought my remark about 'moo-shine' as the name that would be given to illegally manufactured dairy products, in reference to 'moonshine' (the alcoholic beverage that people illegally manufactured during United States prohibition of alcohol consumption from 1920 to 1933 ) would have also indicated that I was joking.
Yet that didn't stop you from reacting unfavourably, and referring to my comments as 'disgusting' and 'unhealthy'. Perhaps then, I may return the favour and offer some advice of my own. When you see a 'big grin' smiley, you might endeavour to read the accompanying remarks with humour in mind. Peace, and may you enjoy your day also! :)

Look, in general I am NOT ashamed to say that I am one of the nicest people going.
I am proud of that fact.
I misread your comment because I did not make the connection between your :D which was there, but was not next to the comment which jumped out at me.
I did not mean to sound like I was personally attacking you, because I simply do not believe in doing that to people!!
I've recovered from Bulimia and that phrase just hit me like a ton of bricks. THAT phrase alone hit me as being "unhealthy and disgusting"
I misread your "joke" and I apologize. You would have to really know me to take me at face value that I have one of the funniest senses of humour there could possibly be.
I don't want to get into a battle of "Well, you said such and such". I don't have the time and energy to do so.
I also really have strong feelings when I believe I have hurt someone else. I believe I have offended you and hurt your feelings so I offer my utmost apology.
On another board I am on, people started a thread about "how nice" I am....
I suppose I should sent them over here, back to the real world :(

Look, I misread your comment. I did not notice the smiley as it was not right next to the sticking finger down the throat comment. Therefore, I completely missed that. You are right. I thought the humorous part was the moo-shine part which was indeed, funny to me.
However, I will apologize for reading your words the wrong way, as I know it can be bothersome to read someone the wrong way. And I can tell it is really bothering you.
I do think sticking your finger down your throat is disgusting and unhealthy and I will not apologize for that sentiment in general. Because that is what I referred to as disgusting and unhealthy. (before you said you were joking).
The last thing I want to do is generate a negative vibe between myself and anyone.
I do not wish to harbour bad air between people. This group is supposed to be for support.
Therefore, you have my apologies.
No need for apologies rawandnatural, none at all. I just wanted to make it clear that I'm am not so tactless or callous as to knowingly suggest to a 15 year old former bulimic that she should actually induce vomiting in order to rid herself of unhealthy foods she unwittingly ate. But no, your misreading of my remarks doesn't bother me in the slightest. I may struggle with my emotions, yes, but these are not the sort of things that provoke them :) The last thing I want is to get on anyone's bad-side just 3 or so days after joinging this most excellent forum. Anyway, regards and good health to you :)
Ariannah

I never meant to imply that you were tactless.
Sometimes people JUST happen to read things incorrectly.
And as a result, they react to what their own brain happened to interpret.
I am not a "scolder", finger-wagger or anything. I'm sure if you knew me, you'd know I do have a sense of humor and when I mean for someone to have a good day, well, it's not the same as "bye" to me... I'm a very literal person and genuinely want people to have a good day.
I don't do battles of "I said, you said" very well. I'm more of a peaceful type of person. I don't like "pointing out" things...
Again, you'd have to know me....
Have a good day, and I meant it the first time I said it too. Just like I meant the first "No worries"... literally.
