View Full Version : Recipe Testers needed for new Raw Food Magazine!
maraw

Hello my fellow raw food fanatics - I need a little help with an upcoming project.
Some of you may have heard about a new raw and living foods mini-magazine that I am producing called "Purely Delicious." The first of four issues is scheduled to print this March! It is mostly about raw food recipes, photos, and preparation, but will also include lots of other helpful information as well. I have several wonderful writers putting their best skills to work for this project. We are all getting very excited about it!
OK, so here's my dilemma - I need recipe testers. I have several recipes that only I have prepared. Although I've made them several times, I need to make sure the directions read well and can be understood by anyone. Plus, I'd love to get other opinions about taste, texture, etc.
If you are interested, please send an email to: anna@purelydelicious.net. I'll let you choose from a list and will need your review by January 26.
Thanks so much!
Anna
Oh, here's the March cover...

Wonderful cover!
I would love to test recipes, but I have so little time till the end of this month. But for the next issue I'll put my hand up!
Do you have a webpage yet, can you link it?
Good luck!!

Do you have a copy of the cover picture without all of the print on it? I would LOVE to print that out and hang it on my wall for inspiration--the photo is gorgeous! :D

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your willingness to help. I'll get everything together this evening and start sending emails out tomorrow. Only two require a dehydrator, and the rest are just food processor or blender.
Thanks again everyone! I am much relieved.
btw - fairygirl, I LOVE the look of your chocolate crepes.

Anna,
Just wondering where you were planning on distributing this wonderful-looking publication. I live in the mid-west (Michigan) and if I remember correctly, you are operating out of Texas, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to find a copy in my local Whole Foods...? How wonderful to have something coming out that is so highly anticipated all around the country/world!

Good question - So far, I have it in about 14 states and am working on all 50! Every day I get another shop or office willing to distribute. I've made them available for free so that anyone can pick one up so that makes it easier to get distributors. Subscriptions are also available just in case people want them. I mean there's no way I can get them in every town in every state - although maybe by the June issue... ;)
Some people have even offered to take them to their own health food stores and yoga studios, etc, and drop them off for me. Saves me postage and gets them out where they need to be! It's just great!
This is a wonderful project, and I am absolutely over joyed to be a part of it. The calendar was fun, but over way too soon. What a thrill!!
One more thing: I'm getting lots of responses for the testing - thanks everyone for your support and willingness to help!

Maraw,
I'll have to pass on this testing session, but I do have a compliment. I'm glad we are talking less dehydrated and more food processor or blenders. For myself, I can't always plan ahead for dehydrating, but admire others who do. Also, most people have a blender or food processor before they ever consider a dehydrator. Regardless, keep me posted and let us know which states you have lined up too for the magazine and add to that once you add more places. Include your other countries so our buddies here will know. Thanks.

hey Maraw,
That sounds like some fun, plus I wouldn't have to cook :D
Can I stick them in a blender and tell you how they taste?
I'm getting ready to start fasting here?
I like your cover the the mag it works well with the name and the mission.
How long will you need food testers?

So many questions, so few fingers to type it all...
fairygirl - don't rub it in. Share next time! :p
Raw Jewel - thanks! I am so glad you like it.
PATH301 - you're on the list baby! I got drinks too! How are you with smoothies? Is it all things liquid? I may hit you harder for the June issue.
carolg - as the list comes to a close, I will post. It's moving too fast right now to try and keep it updated. But I will when I can, K?
Carmella - I do have subscription rates to Canada and the UK/EU (slightly higher due to postage). Look here: purelydelicious.net/sub.htm (http://www.purelydelicious.net/sub.htm)
I think that covers it. Thanks for so many responses and offers to help. I feel,...sniff, sniff..., so very loved. :)

Yes, I readily agree. I think it's best to include a variety of recipes, especially lots that require minimal equipment, like a blender as a basic piece. This caters for those who may not have all the fancy equipment, meaning you may make some converts with easy to assemble recipes!

Good morning! Here's an update...
We now have 24 testers. I've added everyone up to this point now. Thanks, but I think I'm good for a bit now. If I need a few more, I'll let you know. In the meantime, those of you that have already been in touch, please wait to hear from me.
klomasius - I'm on the same wave as you and carolg. This magazine is about raw food being accessible and delicious and just plain great! So, I although I may have the occasional dehydrated recipe or two, for the most part, nothing will be required short of a sharp knife and a little imagination. ;) Oh, and the EU rate will cover Australia as well. Thanks for asking.

Things with the magazine are moving along very nicely. I have been thinking of adding a recipe contest. Any ideas here? I'd love some input.
By the way, I am including one of my favorite recipes of Alissa's - with her permission, of course.
Many thanks to all the recipe testers. You guys are great! I know you are working hard. If anyone else is still interested, I'd be happy to add you on for the next round!
Thanks!

You bet! Can you email me with locations and phone numbers or email addresses? All I need is a way to get in touch with them. So far, everyone has been very excited and welcoming - not one refusal!
I would still like some input for the recipe contest. Anyone? Anyone?

Hey Kookie! Picky...picky...
I really don't have perameters yet. I was thinking they would be judged by some of the 30+ testers we have now. But it seems like it should be on something specific - for example, desserts using apples, or raw crackers, cookies, etc. ???
Contest winners would receive a t-shirt or apron or something.
Veganforlife

Or a Chico bag!
Well, sis-tah, you gotta set those parameters...I'd be willing to create/taste...but yer the boss-lady... :p

i like the idea of setting a theme, or food type or whatever....or maybe you could have a FEW categories maraw, that would be fun! like dessert, salad, soup, main... etc

I am very intrigued by this new magazine as I really like your website. I found it before I came here. Also the raw table calender was a very nice addition to my kitchen.
Will there be any sample copies of the first issue in the Puget Sound area of Washington? The cover is beautiful.

...Will there be any sample copies of the first issue in the Puget Sound area of Washington?...
If you can give me the name of a few stores or appropriate businesses in your area that I can contact, you betcha! You can also subscribe is that's more to your preference. Oh, and I'm so glad you like the calendar. It fills me with joy knowing they are hanging up around the world - hopefully serving as an encouragement.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
With regard to the recipe contest, yes, I think it would be best to have one per issue, and on the subject of one primary ingredient. For example, carrots, or mango, or lime, or pecans, or whatever... you get the idea. We can do 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each issue. Maybe I can find a corporate sponsor for the prizes - just thinking out loud here. My bank of recipe testers is growing, so there are plenty of people who are willing to test and taste. I think this would be great fun!
