For the first time ever..I will have a purely Raw home.. I am living by myself and can truly keep only raw food in the house, if I choose. And, I think I choose.... :-) I will keep some teas...and maple syrup and some cocoa powder..(hmmmaybe I will throw that out too..or give it away..) but I think, beside that, it will all be Raw. I am so excited..I have never had that opportunity before, since I have been living with others for the past 12 years...lol...
It is kind of scary..lol.. ...but very exciting.. :D ...
I was wondering if anyone did that...got rid of it all...and how it went..did you gradually bring in other non-raw things again...how did it go?? I think it will be so much easier..and will make it feel REAL...and like it is a normal way to live...rather than having cooked food staring me in the face...as if to say.."Why am I here... LOL...if you are not going to eat me?"

Very cool! You won't regret it! YAY for you!
I thoroughly cleaned out my cupboards and gave all my SAD foods away. I was Vegan at the time, so these foods were of pretty good quality - rices and whole wheat flours and such. I found a friend whose son is Vegetarian, so that worked out well.
Don't be scared. It's sooooo exciting. Wait until your energy levels soar and you sleep well, and you think clear and your weight drops. You will wish (I did) that you had done this years ago.
See you and I have an advantage. I too am the only raw person in my household. My two doggies don't do raw - yet. Although they love everything I share w/them.
You've made the best decision in your life - to go raw!
Great job!!! :D
Oh yeah, I forgot - yes, I gradually got the "hang" of preparing raw foods. I would see a recipe that I would like to prepare and think Dang! I don't have anything sprouted or whatever. You'll get it. It's so easy. Waaaay easier then cooking! And fast. WHOA! I mean who ever heard of marinara sauce in literally five minutes and it takes so very good!!!

I also unplugged my stove and took off the burner grates and covered it and it now houses my dehydrator. I pretty much re-arranged my kitchen to be a raw-friendly room!
What a fun journey you have begun!
Your body will thank you again and again!

Thanks for the encouragement..:D ...
I think I read on some Raw site..or maybe it was a raw book..about someone who got a "stove-board" and used the stove as counter space..lol... I could certainly use the extra counterspace.. I think I will have some plywood cut..or maybe Corian...a surface I could even cut veggies etc. on...
I am excited!!! Now..If I could pull myself awaay from the computer to go do things..lol... That is one thing I do need... A real life, in the flesh..raw-food friend... Just one... is that asking too much?? :o ..then I could do the Raw food things with someone else..rather than write about them all the time....LOL...
Thanks again... :D I love the idea of the stove being used as something other... and yes..such a great place for the dehydrator i will be getting soon...

If I was a single child free person I would get rid of my stove and all the crap in my house but I'm not single so until then I have to resist eating non raw food every time I open the cupboard, fridge or freezer. :p

I would get rid of the stove..except my Landlord would be ticked off...lol....
I feel for you.... having to confront the cooked..even in your own home..But..there is a price to be paid for being alone too.... :( ..sometimes it is lonely..just me and my kitty....:p ...
blessing....

Hi!
I think that completely cleaning out your cupboards and keeping your house all raw is great way to make a raw commitment!! I've never been able to do it due to living with cooked food eaters, but it is great that you can. Congratulations! It is so much easier to stay raw without temptations around!! Good for you!
All the best,
Audrey

Yeah I wish I could do that too. My whole family is sad accept me. But I am taking over territory with all my nuts, seeds, grains, nut butters, coconut butters, etc. And am buying less of the SAD cooked junk food for the family to eat. I figure if there are healthier options to eat this will at least influence them to eat a little better. But I will still have to buy cooked food. It is a bummer cause it would be easier not having the option or temptation around. You are doing the right thing.

Trinity - you know that takes a powerful woman to be able to resist. I admire YOU for that. One day you will be child-less and it goes by REALLY fast, so enjoy every second of it while you can!!! :)

I love my little kitchenless apartment, but I gotta admit, I sure do miss having a kitchen sink! :(

There's a company that makes stove covers but they are out of stock. You can get the lumber yourself and probably have it cut to size, then just attach small pieces of wood to the bottom for feet.
This is what one looks like.
