Hi, my name is Pamela. I've been vegetarian off and on since I was in my teens. I've never managed vegan, much less raw for more than a week or two. I'd like to transition to raw vegan and be able to consider that my lifestyle by the end of the year.

My first step was ordering Alissa's book and dvd. I have read several other books. My second step is to start having fruit and raw nuts for breakfast every day. I'd like to just start, but I'm having trouble imagining where to go beyond breakfast. (c:

Other details about me: I'm 44 years old, married and mom to 2 human children and three four-footed fur-bearing kids. My husband and other kids are very attatched to thier SAD lifestyles. While they do love me and support me in what I do in life, I don't expect them to go along with my changes. I have a very active job working in a large bookstore. I enjoy my job a great deal (and see quite a bit of interest in raw foods here in Austin).

blessings and peace, Pam

Hi Pam :) Sounds like you're off to a good start. Have you considered having a salad for lunch as a next step "beyond breakfast"?

I generally take a big salad or a thermos of soup to work for lunch. Sometimes my salad lasts all day, I'll start munching on it during my morning break and it will get me through lunch and afternoon break as well. I get really hung up in winter and tend to want something a little heavier and *warm*. I'll be happy to keep up the fruit intake in the morning and swap out my coffee habit for water this month and take my level of participation up a notch in a few weeks.

Thanx for the resonse.

You know WE Women are the Leaders and soon, right or wrong, the family WILLl follow.

But you know I am So Proud and supportive of you for wanting to make Changes in your life. You can READ RAW every day, working in a Book Store. But so Happy you ordered the No.1 Book...... You know she is to be on Tyra Banks this Wednesday.........

My biggest problem was cheese (being vegetarian) once I became RAW and let that muchus forming, Pus infected milk curdling piece of yellow fat go, I was fine AND STILL AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW.......Welcome to MY World........

Have you tried putting Raisians, nuts and anything else lying around in your Salad? You can make warm Nut Breads in the Dehydrator.

One step at a time, things will get better and so will you. RAW will NEVER let you go. RAW will wait on you if it must..............

I do put raw nuts in my salads and dried fruits. It depends on what I'm going for as far as tastes. I pretty much make salads the 'clean out the fridge' way - if it's in there and it's never walked around (or it isn't walking around now, in that science experiment sort of way - eewwww) then it can go in my salad.

I hope my example will cause change for my family. Thus far, no luck.
