ok, so I know this is probably another silly question :o as I am sure it has probably had some kind of heat treatment........ but I have some left over frozen peas from my before raw days.
Can I use this? Could it be considered raw?
I was thinking epsecially of corn and peas.
thanks

My hubby asked the same thing today. I think most vegetables are flash frozen and not cooked at all, but I can't swear to it.

Not a silly question at all. I am wondering the same thing.
I used frozen blueberries for Alissa's blueberry pie (she uses fresh in the DvD-
I just substituted).
And I thought I saw frozen corn in some recipes too.
Hopefuly someone can clarify this for us :p

from what i have read, frozen is acceptable as long as it is not treated with preservatives and/or sugar.

According to some people at rawfoodsupport,
"freezing kills approx. 33-66 percent of a foods enzymes. Not as bad as cooking, but still not cool."
then I also found "Frozen fuits aren't usually boiled (blanched), but frozen vegetables often are - especially corn, peas, carrots, etc. It really depends on the company, though. The only way to be sure is to ask them if they blanch their food or not"

I wonder if the freezing kills some of the vitamins and antioxidants too?????
I am sure some of them, but not as bad as cooking like you said....

Most vegetables are blanched quickly so it's really not raw...but if you're not going for 100% it might be acceptable.
Most fruits are frozen raw, so those are fine.

From what I've read, frozen is NOT considered raw. it also kills enzymes, just not as bad as cooking it.

Hi,
probably frozen corn and peas are blanched then flash frozen, and I would imagine that they are not as nutricious as fresh, however, I use them all the time, and I am loosing weight, and totally healthy, where before raw I had all kinds of health challenges.
I say fresh, organic veggies are best, but if you can't get it, then use frozen.
I also freeze my raw food dishes all the time, so I have lots to choose from.
I know this may not be the way everyone wants to eat, but for me, if I want to stay raw, I need lots of variety, and I need it to be now.
This way I can make a full recipe, and freeze 1/2 of it, and eat the rest.
It works for me.
You should probably do what works for you.
