Hey everyone :)

My name's Melissa, I'm 17 and live in New Zealand. I think I could be the first kiwi on this forum - (not entirely sure, but I do wish there were some more of us embarking on this adventure!)

Luke, my boyfriend led me to raw foods. I met him through church youth events and came to know his family. They too are religious (as are mine) and follow a very "strict" vegetarian/vegan diet. When we started dating two years ago he was horrified to discover I ate lots of diary products, meat and the such. He was so concerned I'd die at an early age from heart complications and suffer other health related illnesses. My parents had been on the Atkin's Diet and both lost a lot of weight (but in an unhealthy way) and our family was caught in a high-animal-protein and fat diet. Thank goodness my boyfriend rescued me from that!

I have stopped eating diary products, meat and I have found my circulation has drastically improved! I used to have cold hands and feet but now I almost never do :)

I guess I'm not at a stage in my life where I am 100% raw, I'm still reading a lot of books, articles and I have an amazing supportive family and extended family who try all my creations! I just wanted to introduce myself because I will be nosing around this forum!

So many people suffer, needlessly on a SAD diet. You don't even know what it's doing to you til you get away from it. I truely believe this and everyday I'm getting more and more confident to become 100% raw!

Peace, love and kiwis x

Hi Melissa! Welcome to the boards kiwi! Does it count if I consider myself half kiwi :p I have been fortunate engough to dwell among you kiwi's for a year (2003) in Feilding.. I hope you find all you need when nosing around here, it is a great forum for that! Isn't it amazing how good it feels to release the meat eating habit?

Much joy your way!

Fly forever free..

Though not being a raw kiwi, I am sometimes of the Actinidian persuasion - but today I am visiting Bromelia. ;)
