Lately I have been looking up the nutritional value of nuts and seeds and found this, which I did not know at all. Most likely it has already been said here but I thought I would post it anyways.

"Peanuts are legumes!

Yes. Peanuts, along with beans and peas, belong to the single plant family, Leguminosae. Legumes are edible seeds enclosed in pods. As a group, they provide the best source of concentrated protein in the plant kingdom. While their physical structure and nutritional benefits more closely resemble that of other legumes, their use in diets and cuisines more closely resembles that of nuts "

I have always thought that when people said they are allergic to peanuts that it meant they would be allergic to all nuts, but maybe this is not the case? maybe they are allergic to Leguminosae?

nut allergies are usually divided into "peanuts" or "tree nuts" (most other nuts)..sometimes "all nuts" though is applicable. i think it has to do with a specific protein in nuts that causes allergic reactions? i might be remembering incorrectly though.

I've tried making peanut butter as well...it just isn't the same. But with enough sea salt, cinnamon, and raw turbinado sugar added, it was at least tasty.

Most likely eatyourbroccoli, though I am not certain as well, but I remember reading this about milk and its proteins as well.
