I've heard people on this forum talk about how they use their ovens on the lowest setting with the door open. (I can not afford an Excalibur right now)
1.) How much energy does it take to do that?
2.) Do you have to leave it that way the entire time that you are supposed to dehydrate? If the recipe says 13 hours, do I leave my oven on that long?!

I am not sure how well that method works. Most ovens start at 140 degree's so you would need a good size fan to cool it below 118 degree's and I think that would be less energy efficient than a food dehydrator.. I think :confused:
