View Full Version : Feeling discouraged

I just wanted some words of encouragement. I have been 95% raw now for almost 3 weeks, but feeling bloaty today and heavy. I tend to be attracted to the nuts, avocados and nutmilks although I have a green lemonade drink (celery, kale, apples, ginger) every morning - only fruit until before lunch - a salad with homemade dressing and a Lara bar for lunch.

I went to a San Francisco raw restaurant and had their cashew nacho "cheese" with flax crackers for dinner. I know I have lost a bit of wait in my gut but I guess I want more results in my "gut" area. Unrealistic I know. But if anyone can just send me some good energy or empathy that would be great. I was with a group of friends last night that ordered from my favorite Chinese restaurant - I wanted the sesame chicken so bad but truly did enjoy my flax nachos and "cheese". I'd feel differently if I didnt feel so heavy and bloaty today. I just want to evacuate it all out along with this negative self-image every time I go to the bathroom!

Alright - sending happy waves o' joy your way - thank you for all of your postings - I love reading them daily.

Question: when you have a raw dessert at dinner time- how long do you wait until after you have eaten dinner?

Still smiling Rob :o

Congrats on haning in there so far. :D It is challenging when you have friends and family members that aren't raw and even think raw is just another one of those kookie new age things.

Anyway, for losing weight around the middle: you mentioned you "are attracted to avocados, nuts, and nutmilks." Even though your flax crackers and nut "cheese" were raw, those are pretty concentrated foods. You may need to increase your watery fruit intake: melons, peaches, etc., as well as increasing your green smoothies. Also, you made need to do a detox or cleansing.

Just about all of us have been where you are now... the best thing to do is just hang in there, surround yourself with the foods and environment you love and don't worry about anything. Embrace the simple foods and indulge in the ones you love. For me, it's nut milks, nut butter and avocados - I sound like a fat lover! But in winter, I really am. I always gain about 10 pounds during the winter, but I know where it comes from.

Raw is a wonderful balance for each of us in mind and body. Your balance will come very soon, very soon. Be patient and wait for the feeling. You'll love it when it comes...

It is always helpful to remember that this is not another "diet," but a change of lifestyle.

Oh, you WILL be bloated for a while. We carry an unbelievable amount of toxins from the past.
Be patient with yourself.

LONG DISTANCE VOYAGER

Think longterm.

Sometimes a 2-hour drive seems so long... then when I drive out of state, it's like, "Wow, that 2-hour drive is nothing! I passed that long ago." As such, set your sights on your destination.

Your gaze determines the quality of your days.

Rest along the way. Enjoy the scenery. But don't let it distract you from where you are going.
Where you are destined to be.

Hang in there! You *will* lose the weight...but on your body's own time. You did awesome not caving to the chinese! I always feel so ick after eating greasy chinese food. I never feel bad after eating at Gratitude. :D Have you tried their brownie sundae? It's worth staying raw for. Have faith...you will feel better soon. If not, try a green smoothie...that oughta clean you out!

I am losing weight but not necessarily where I want to. The only place I see to have much excess weight is my tummy. Perhaps a bit on my back. Arms and legs are thin and yet that's where the weight seems mostly to be coming off. It's getting so obvious that people are commenting on it and telling me to stop losing weight there, as though I had a choice! At least I can tell my health is improving so I try not to complain.

Empathy and good vibes to you RawRobert!

When I first went raw I bloated like a Macy's Parade balloon in my belly for 2-3 weeks and then...all of a sudden I deflated. It was weird. Maybe you're like me...just healing and finding the balance...you will release when your body is ready. In the meantime congrats on your journey!

Yeah I can see your photo when I go to your info part - not on the posts.

Great teeth! Great smile! Great skin! Great hair! Healthy Handsome Face!

I guess you'll only be able to feel better from raw - I can't imagine improving your looks since you have them already!

Robert, you have to go to your User CP and choose "Edit Avatar" (not profile) in order to see your photo in your posts.

Be Proud My Good Man !!!!!!!!!

BLOATING is like the hallmark and momument of eating RAW--food that is alive! Imagine that, you are eating foods that are packed with enzymes that are the key element that makes food living......there is so much energy and lifeforce taking place in your body......drawing and scrubbing all that crap from your body down the shoot. Unfortunately, it doesn't pass thru our head but stomach it will. :)

Granted, eating too many nuts, dehydrated foods etc can cause gas and bloating. This process naturally works itself out. The body is pretty intelligent....every 10 days our taste buds change and so will your food choices..........gets cleaner and cleaner.........less bloated.

Stay hydrated and plenty of energy moving exercises.

Hang in there, we all have our rough days. Good job though on passing up the chicken at the Chinese Restaurant! The stomach thing - I totally relate to. Are you exercising? Eating raw and exercise will get it down. You are a great looking guy though (even the way you are). My family is not eating raw either so I can totally relate, but keep coming here for encouragement. The good news is this forum is 24 hours a day so someone is always there when you need them.

Oh and the dessert thing. I eat all things when I feel like it. But generally I wait a while after a main meal until I really need something sweet. I generally do this when other people are eating what I would like to eat but can't (like at the movies when my husband is eating popcorn and I am feeling deprived). That is when having a treat ready and available is important so you don't cave and eat something you don't want to. I just got done making raw fudge and I keep it in the freezer in individual ziploc bags for when I need them. A glass pan of it usually lasts me a few months. I don't eat sweets everyday. Just once in a while. Best wishes to you.

"I once made mindless decisions about what I fed my body. Now, my body chooses for me. Beyond any voice, my body's is the most spiritually intelligent."

i like that quote :D

You say you're 95% raw? what are you eating that isn't raw?

I don't eat dessert every night but when I do make it I will have it every night until its gone. :p
I haven't had desert after dinner all week but last week I made raw cheese cake and I had a piece maybe 30 mins after supper. I wasnt timing it. I eat when I'm hungry. :p

I eat brown rice about once or twice per week. I love it so I'm transitioning.
