I'm embarraaaed to post. I was raw while in Chicago, but the NIGHT I got home I binged on cooked and have every day since then. I think it's the environment? I'm just not sure how to get back on raw. The cravings during detox are so intense...it scares me. I was in all these challenges for January and the year of 2007 and havn't done ANY of them. I've gained a lot of weight. I know I can drop half of it in a few days after I go raw, so...I dunno. I'm stuck in this pattern and ED ways.

On another note, my Aunt became vegan and high raw after i visited (the one that said humans "need" meat) and all her pain is gone! Her huaband became vegan as of january 1. My aunt talked to my mom and now my mom is mostly vegan and high raw. I'm proud of all of them and pleased I help spread the word. I just wish my mom listened to me, her daughter, rather than her sister lol, oh well.

Hi~ :)
Sorry you are feeling down....don't beat yourself up about falling off raw...it's important to you and you will get back to making descisions that support what you want in your life. As for your Aunt and Mom going high raw, how cool that you have influenced them to make such healthy and life affirming changes in their lives. I am sure your Mom heard all you had to say about raw...a person just has to work thru coming to change in their own way.

Welcome back! You've taken the first step. You've admitted it. Now to do the rest. Just jump into it again. Think of how good you felt when raw. Think of how you inspired your Mom and Aunt and how their teacher can't let them down! ;)
You CAN do this again. And who knows? This time the cravings may not be as intense.
I agree with GlimR - don't beat yourself up.
Don't think about what all you HAVE to do - just go one day at a time - forward and raw!

There's one particular good thing about the Raw Wagon, when you fall off it slows down or stop, all you've gotta do is climb onboard again and it will take you along! Start out your day with raw, if you binge later, at least you've had something raw already! When you crave something unraw, go eat some raw first, then again you will at least have had some raw. Keep it up girl, you can do it!

I hear you Dreamrawalwz. They say the only failure is the failure to try. The smallest stream (that never quits) cuts the deepest canyons. It's true. They say that one must give one's self room / space. Since like 80% of new businesses fail.....to not allow one's self an 80% failure rate.....as part of the investment in a successful business....is not planning ahead! Ha! ha! You may succeed sooner...but must also have that firm stomach and willingness to fail to arrive at your goals. Don't you think?

-And somewhere between your ultimate dreams.....and the 'total failures'....somewhere between those 2 extremes is a good middle-ground, that has small goals that YOU are prepared and willing to do every day to achieve YOUR goals. This is what Maslow called 'Self-actualization'.....(although I've never read his material...just summaries). ;) You can then judge yourself by what you DO.....whether you've done 1 or 2 small things every day to achieve YOUR goals.....and less about whether you succeeded or not.

-If you are looking at a brick wall......and all you are equipped with is a soup spoon and no knowledge of masonry.....then it seems impossible to espape a prison cell. But with REAL motivation and time........and by focusing on the wall right in front of you........you can escape! Ha! ha! It's been done before! :)

dreamrawalwz- You have received many great responses. One thing I have learned in my Raw Journey... It is not how you handle the *success* in Raw-but how you deal with the *slips. :)

It is easier to get back on by making a game plan.

Pull out a calendar and decide what day to start.

Stock up on fruits, vegetables and whatever raw recipes you are going to depend on.

Plan what you are going to eat in the next 3 days.

Chart what you'll be eating for the next week(s) to stay accountable.

The more excited and busy you get about your journey back on raw, the easier it will be.

Don't worry about what you did yesterday, just make it happen today.

And don't worry about your Mom. You planted a seed and had a big hand in it. Your aunt probably just convinced her to take the first step, but you did all the work. Now that your mom is going raw, she needs you to be there along with her as a support system.

Go eat 3 bananas now, before you eat something else.

Now that you have gotten family members to eat raw they can act as your support system. It's hard when you're the only one doing it because you are the only one that you can count on. But with other people on your side it should take away some of the pressure. Focus on your mom right now, since she is just starting this and will need help. By working on her raw food journey it should help you get back on your path.

There is no failure only challenges, how do you really want to look and feel thats the key. Just do it. Forever young

Dreamrawalz!!! I'm SOOO HAPPY TO SEE YOU!!!
{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}

I've slipped so many times, I quit counting!!! I just realized this....MOSTLY raw is better than NONE raw!! Just keep jumping back on the wagon. Never quit. So what, if you binged 1 night...or 3?? I've realized that my binges are shorter, and that's progress!! I also noticed that my cravings are not as severe each time I stay raw for any amount of time!! This will happen for you too.

As for your mom, maybe when she heard her sisters success (who is more your mom's age) she decided that is WAS something she could do...like, "if she can do it, I can do it!" Sometimes "older" people feel like they are too old to change (I hear this from my mother-in-law all the time) So hearing this from her sister made her feel more capable (maybe??)

Anyway, welcome back! I am happy to see you. I remember your trip to Chicago..maybe mentally you were just tired of the challenge...and when you got home to your comfort zone, you just let loose??? OK...so what...come back! We're here cheering you on!!

Ha, i happen to like this picture and that's a rare occassion for me.

Thank you for all your respoonses. I'm going to take it a day a a time, even a second at a time if i must.. I think part of it is I'm telling myself my goal is one year 100%. I think that's too large of a goal and overwhelming so I need to set tiny goals...like a day and move up from there again.

Hey Dream~~~

Only my opinion b/c I do care and becoing increasingly concerned,,,,,,

I don't think it would even be conducive to think of RAW percentages at all at this moment or give yourself the pressure of RAW period. Given the nature of your issues and history, it is not as simple for those that have deep negative associations to food period. Your issues run pretty deep if my memory serves me correctly.

I would really suggest spending more time dealing with the mental/emotional aspects of yourself than try to figure out when to become 100% raw,do a fast or get back on the wagon.......you will automatically be more raw when you [feel] confidently ready.......

I highly recommend Revvell's threads on Abundance, prosperity and appreciation........time to change the thinking ....so our feelings change so our lives can change.

To your new life. :)
