I'm getting back into my weekly 24 hour fasting routine. I have about 20 minutes to chug down my quart of fruit shake as I will be water fasting from 12 noon Monday to 12 noon Tuesday.
I did a 3 day liquid cleanse on the New Year.

Sharon, would LOVE to have you post your weekly experiences.....you do the 24 hour water fasts right? Dugh never mind you already mentioned.....

I finished my smoothie closer to 12:30 so I'll probably start eating again at 1:00 tomorrow.
It's a lot easier for me to fast one day a week, because of all the activity and Taekwondo during the week.
I'll try to check in here tonight. I don't foresee any problems - sometimes I think it's harder to be juicing!

01-08-2007, 07:30 PM
Yup, I'm in! :D
I've already been doing some form of fasting since 12/26/06 so I am "in the zone" ... I will be alternating between juice and water-only fasting.
I will need to be prepared for next weekend as I will be attending a Singles Conference at my church (January 18th, 19th, 20th) ... probably do water-only for those 3 days.
misslinda
01-09-2007, 12:43 AM
Girlsmiley, a singles conference??? How fun will tha be!
I would love to read your experiences too!
My sis will be joining us but not posting here of course.
I am going to do things a little different for me....
10 days of elm water first thing in the morning following with dilluted juices.
7 th day, I will do a home enema. The switch to fruit/selected green juices all dilluted.
All juices strained. Work toward water fasting half day by day 12.

I went to the Single Conference last year, it was the first one my church put on, and it was great fun. After the evening sessions they had shows (e.g., a magician, a comedian, etc.) and then a "Mix and Mingle" with food and karaoke, games, etc. Even a photo-op area where you could get your picture taken with friends and have a "keepsake" of the event.
It will be different this year because I want to participate in the Mix and Mingle yet I won't be eating ... I am going to ask for *grace* so I don't have to pay the $5 cover charge (which covers the cost of the food) since I won't be eating. If they won't make an exception I won't worry about it ... just gonna ask and see what happens
I have 2 juicers, a Champion and a Jack LaLane ... I bought the 2nd one in 2005 thinking it would be easier to clean ... not necessarily. However, it just may be *perfect* for me to bring to the hotel ... the hotel room has a fridge so I could bring carrots, celery, and apples and make *basic* juice in the a.m. and afternoon ... I will have to consider this further ... maybe my "roomies" will even try some juice :D

Hubby and I are doing an every Thursday sunrise to sunset fast for the entire year. (No food or beverage intake.)
We do this in conjunction with prayer and meditation.
Some time around 9/12/07 we will also incorporate a 30 Day fast for Ramadan.
Just so you know but not that anyone asked ;)
The Bahai folks will have a fast coming up in MArch for 19 days. I may participate because I like their pluralistic approach and what they stand for and have recently began attending devotional services at my local Center. Plus it's right before my Birthday, what better way to bring in another year :)

Fasting During Ramadan is from Sunrise to Sunset (no food or water/any beverage consumption, no sex). There are other spiritual components too, basically to be God focused, mindful of those in need and working on self improvement etc....

Misslinda, I bought an Omega 8005....and so far.....LOVE IT!
I really want to "CLEANSE" this year. Looking to get rid of this skin rash! Any ideas on what to "intake" to help. I was told it was candida, but I'm really not sure, as the small rash on 1 foot is the only visible sign.????? I figure if I really cleanse, then something should happen...right???? Glad to join you, if only for a few days...what's the goal???

Tvillemom (chickadeeeeeeeeee), I will personally do 14 days and then assess from there. I know, I am sooooooo happy you got your juicer---it inspired me to possibly purchase a new one as the one I have is BLAH! What other syptoms besdies the small rash???

When you feel the "thrist" coming on, how do you deal with it? No way, TN??? You and Tvillemom are in TN. I always thought you were in some other country --some exotic place :D
I think Cousens is jewish or at least does things along the rabbinical order so a sunrise to sunset fast makes sense, with the break fast (breakfast) in the evening at the start of a new day.
The fast is usually just around 12 hours (sunrise to sunset).
On my thursday fast I just get up and stay very present and attuned to whatever it is I want to meditate on while going thru my day to day task.
Kind of like taking a long drive out of town and listening to a book on tape. Still concentrating on the story line then realizing you made it to your destination faster than you thought.
For me if I don't start eating or drinking in the AM it makes it easy til around 3pm or so, thats when I crank up the prayer and visualization.
During the 30 day fast we get up before sunrise and eat a light breakfast and drink maybe a 1/2 gallon of water, then break our fast at sunset with prayer and a snack then a large dinner and maybe two more snacks before bedtime. As the month goes on we usually just want lots of water in the AM and find we can make it til sunset. PRIMARILY because our focus is not on the food at all!
Working lunches and Holiday functions do make things difficult especially when trying to explain the point and purpose to folks who have food as their god and can't fathom not eating ;)
basically that's what it all boils down to, is worshiping the creator vs the creation... at elast for me :)
I thought Tvillemom was in north CArolina
 I am in an exotic place. TN is just where you will find my flesh parked as me where my mind is!!! :D
By the way I dream in colour

Tonight I attended a class on cleansing at my local HFS.
I'm new to all this and was interested when the Naturopath said that the best time for fasting is from full moon to new moon because that is when our body naturally "pushes out" and that from new moon to full moon our body draws in.
He said he follows that when he fasts once a month for 1-3 days.
I thot it was cool information :D

Miss Linda,
What is elm water?
This thread is fascinating!
Hey you!
Elm water is healing remedy that Edgar Cayce (medical intuitive) suggested for those with stomach/digestive issues and particularly auto immune symptoms like fibromyalgia, psoriasis with underlying issue of leaky gut.
Elm itself has the ability to coat the stomach lining and initiaite repair. I find this beneficial for someone like myself with a more than compromised stomach lining that can let toxins seep into the blood stream and other foreign invaders.
I'm using it is preparation for fasting..........while fasting, toxins are drawn to the colon and I figure that some irritation may occur if I have a weak digestive wall so I am preventing the leakage.
Elm water recipe:
8-10 oz warm water with pinch of elm bark powder
let it sit for 10 mins and then drink--do not eat for 1 hour.

Hey Tinystrawberry,
Haven't seen ya for awhile! Great to crosspaths with you again.....
most HFS in their bulk section will have slippery elm bark powder. Make sure it is fresh, should have a distinct scent not cupboard like when it gets blah.
To enhance circulation in the bowel and give the body "moving" energy, I use red clover or ginger juice to prevent blood stagnancy.
I do not encourage the use of senns leaf but everyone has their own opnions on this leaf.
To draw out the fecal matter, I do home enemas with lemon juice and little powder magnesium. Oh, I would say every 7 days I draw it out.
How long will you be fasting?
Some have started a few days early....I will be in fasting zone on teh 15th.....Path301 is starting on 16th. His birthday is 15th so he'll probably have birthday cake :p
misslinda
01-10-2007, 11:57 PM
forgot to mention, you can drink powder form of magnesium to contract the colon also.
As fasting prolongs, you can actually have bm's without any aid. Will this be your first time Tinystrawberry?

I have done a 12 day juice fast, a 3 day water fast, and multiple 24 hr fasts
I think i'll be doing a juice fast for a few days and then see how much longer i feel like doing it.
i love fasting with juice *diluted with water* and teas, makes me very energetic and i feel clean
"As fasting prolongs, you can actually have bm's without any aid."

......And...

misslinda
01-11-2007, 12:35 AM
Hmmmm, everyone is different. I knowfor myself, I don't have bm's like some do the first week or so.....
The digestive system shuts down and fiber is lacking so cease of bm's are normal. However, in some cases, by fasting, the eliminiatory system is enhanced and rejuvenated and some experience bm movements.....
Prolong fasting, bm's will cease and after some time --I've read around the 30 day mark, some purging out of the colon can take place as the body heals even deeper and deeper.
I put my ginger thru my juicer--I always dilluate with water and juices of fruit.
Massage is very helpful too to stimualte the nerves around the colon....tailbone area adn coccyxx.
You're definately not new to fastnig so this will be FUN!

Misslinda you really helped and inspired me during my last fast in October so I'm definately in. I started a fast on Jan 1st of this year, but it hasn't been going too well energy wise. It's been a hard first week and half. I hope I can offer some good energy to others and maybe find some inspiration as well.
My son saw your avatar and tried to be all casual while commenting how cool you looked in those shades. His exact words were " She's really pretty, where do you get sunglasses like that?" Of course me being an old mom he wasn't suprised when I told him I have no idea. I think you may have got him even more interested in rawliving. ;)
I want to jump in on this fast but Im not sure for how long. How is fasting while you work?? I am a cocktail waitress in a casino and my job is kinda physical so is it ok to fast for a week or 2 and keep the energy up for work?? I have only done 1 to 3 day fasts so far but would really like to go farther in the fasting experience.

Ok...I need your advice. Misslinda, you know I've only fasted (the longest) 5 days. At first, I seem to have more BM's, but around day 3-4, I start to have trouble. I want this stuff "flushed out". What is the gentlest way? I would take some magnesium??? OR drink a tea...what do you suggest. I'm heading to the HFS NOW, if you get this message. If I don't see a reply very soon, I'll ask the "pharmacist" at the HFS! I want the cleansing....but I'm scared. I am afraid I won't be able to give up "food" for more than a few days. ;) '
Nervous, scared, excited.....so many emotions.

Misslinda, you asked what other symptoms I've had and the rash is the only thing I know of. I have just recently (in the last 6 months) developed a tiny spot (about the size of a 1/2 dollar) between my breasts that itches like mad, and is dry, scaley feeling and red. And also a larger place on the small of my back....very itchy, not as red, but dry feeling....?????? I've changed soaps...so I changed back to something more "moisturizing" and it seems to have helped some, but that still doesn't explain the rash I've had on my foot for 15 years. I've tried EVERYTHING to get rid of that....prescriptions, oral and topical...lotions, powders, sprays...nothing has worked, YET! This is my healing year....I've claimed it in Jesus name.

Girlsmiley: I think I read in the "jump in in Jan." thread that you bought green powder? I was thinking of buying some organic, raw, barleymax powder from Hallelujah Acres....to help with getting some GREAT nutrition in first thing in the morning...I would actually drink this 2-3 times a day.
I also bought some red clover to make a tea out of...but they came like LARGE BUDS...just like I would pick from my yard...should I crunch them up....is this what I make a tea out of ????
How do I find out about essential oils??? Should I have some on hand, and what would I do with them??? Is there a website?? I hate to be a pest.
Ya'll are great.

It would be really odd to not eat, so I want to end my fast in time to get some food down for a day or two before the "chili bash"....on January 27. That would make my fast 10-12 days. I'm thinking I'll shoot for 10....I guess it just depends on how I feel. Maybe if I made it to that Saturday and had just a couple of BITES of chili??? OH WHO AM I FOOLING...IF I MAKE IT PAST 3 DAYS!!! I just want to give myself plenty of time, if need be.
OK...the countdown begins.

Wendi
Hey Wendi, I feel your EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No worries on the bm's, naturally and expectedly, your bm's will cease. There are varying schools of thought about eliminating or not. I personally, do every 6-7 days. Some people prefer every morning and some do not do it all. Thye most gentle way, what have you used in the past? I don't do teas unless I'm using it for giving "energy" the my blood flow. One gal here did the magnesium said she liked it but you have to play with the dosage to see which works best for you.
There are laxative teas but I think almost all have senna leaf which I personally do not advocate.
If you are like some others, you won't need to draw out the toxins. When one resume eating, it all gets scuffed out. That goes for all people.
Your skin thingy reminds me of my girlfriend.....random spots. It resembles the personality like psoriasis, ezcema even thought it doesn't look like it.
Why are you scared? Your body is so intelligent.....it's day by day so you go with the flow of your body and what it is doing. If we try to go against the natural changes of what is going on, there will be tension in your fasting. Think of it like being inside yourself and cleaning "house." :)
Angeline!!! my fasting commorade....how I have missed you and wondered how life and everything was going for you. I saw your beautiful pictures and of your family. Most blessings and miracles to you all. btw, your son's comment was much appreciated and heartfelt. send him a <wink> for me! ;)
Michiganroman, I think your fasting is making you more witty these days than ever!!!XX!! Congrats on day 2--I'm so loving your STRENGTH AND humor in all this.
JEN, I hear your concern, if anything, take it day by day as detox can be concentrated at times. If you are fasting while working, make sure you have good breathing rhythm and stay relaxed mentally and phsycially. At work, move with the flow of your body and not in a vigorous fast state b/c as we all know, blood pressure drops and we need to be aware of that as well. Take one day at a time........there is also a profound mental aspect of fasting.....getting thru detox moment by moment helps us get thru each day.
Are you planning of fasting juices?
Girlsmiley, I have heard of the effects of the moom but I have never done so with fasting. Will you be doing this? I would love to hear your experiences if so?
............I love that 3rd day feeling of fasting when you've made it past the battle and can rest. :)

tvillemom - I replied in the other thread about the green powder stuff ... lol :D I don't know how to make essential oils, I just purchased them at the HFS. Also, regarding the tea, I think you crumble them up and put them in a *tea thingy* so the water gets at the leaves yet the leaves don't get in your water.
MissLinda - I don't have a calendar in front of me so I don't even know when the moon cycles this month. I may try to be more conscious of it in February and see if it is *easier* to fast between the full moon and the new moon ... ???
I'm planning to start on Sunday, too, just because I've fasted (water only) the 31st and the 7th and I'm planning to go 14 days (well, it would be 15 because I will fast on the 28th too).
I have 25 lbs of organic carrots, ton of garlic, 4 celery hearts, organic baby spinach, and pears. The celery hearts, spinach, and pears should last me the first week so I will get more, and maybe different stuff, when I need it :p
I have three days when I will be out of town and I had considered bring a juicer with me. However, since I bought that green powder stuff I will bring that with me instead. Plus, the conference doesn't start until Thursday night so I can juice before I go and then I come home on Saturday evening so I can juice then too. That just leaves Friday without juice and I think I can handle that
Thanks MissLinda! I am planning on doing juice and maybe water on my days off. Will it help if I do wheatgrass for energy??? My job is physical and fast paced although this tends to be the slower time of year. My job consists of walking quickly for 8 hrs with an hr break inbetween and carrying a tray above head with up to about 20 drinks. I just dont want to fall out in the middle of the casino, lol. I think I will be ok and I will take it day by day. I will also be meditating daily and I can usually get 7-8 hrs of sleep. Im excited and looking forward to this fast.

O Miss L!
Thank you for sharing all this whizdom! I NEEDED this so much!
Do you think your elm powder is different than slippery elm powder I get from my Acupuncturist? She rolls herbal blend up into pills with raw honey and tosses them in the SE powder to make them easier to swallow...
My spirit and tummy thank you, luv... :)

Hello Fasting Frenz! :)
Apasaraw, I should be the same --it's the slippery elm bark powder for the long name. It's also used to treat bronchitis too....and of course opera singer who have a sore throat coming on.....
Michiganroman, I'm a fleetwood mac fan also. "Tell me lies....tell me sweet little lies..." right??? Big applaud to your continued fasting....
Girlsmiley, yes, i'd be interested too in that moon cylce. That would be awesome if you can take the juicer with you...
JEN, that sounds like the perfect approach, start with juices and work into water of off days......you can even dillute juices as you progress. We will not let you pass out. Are you around smokers?
Tivillemom, oh WENDI! You can do it! Think of it this way.......creating a nice spa like atomosphere.....you,your juices and water, nice warm baths, massages and meditations. Much more time to do other things instead of eating !!!!!
........this will be a real treat to fast with all of you. Everyone detoxes differently and respond differently to fasting. Please share your experiences... :)

how about these old classic mac lyrics = you , you making fasting fun . and ,
youve got to fast your own way . :)
it was a big battle tonite , i saw what your talking about tvillemom .
because one of my brothers is in town with his family from out of state so we all met at my mas house for a party and big feast . she made all the old favorites for my brother . and i sat at the dinner table watching everyone feasting for an hour . a few more hours of that and i woulda not only broke the fast , i would have been eating cooked stuff by the shovel full .
but i weathered the storm and now ive got 3 days under my belt and am marching onward .

ML , for a few months i was drinking like 4 cups of coffee per week and a couple cups of lightly roasted peanuts in shell per week but eventually they started tasting bad to me so off them .
the only thing that aint raw now is sometimes i experiment with salad dressings and switch from raw applecider vinegar because apples have been known to upset my stomach . so i sometimes use rice vinegar or red wine vinegar instead . oh and i some times drink plain hot herbal tea .
but ive quit salt so im getting nearer and nearer to a chimp like diet .
now im on day 4 of fast and could only sleep like 4 hours last night cuz more energy from fast . and once again no dirty dishes :) , or shopping for produce = CHA CHING ! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Misslinda, you are doing an awesome job - thankyou very much ;) :D
I'm so far behind I need to go back and catch up with what's going on with everybody.
Here's just a quick note to fo me to catch with my stuff - it's very brief. But let see what's going on and I'll be able to comment better. :D
= I've been eating the same food for the last 6 days so not much has changed it that area. I have not had time to make anything special. Except for one day I made Alissa's stuffed mushrooms for dinner.
My plans for the for 2 weeks or so fast are: First no cake for me I don't like it, but I do like those icecream cakes :D
The first week will just be a blender type of food substance to get my body into the slower mode. Followed by just jucies only. My work schedule will be to demanding to try to fast strictly water and juice. I tried to do that while I was fasting with misslinda I went out and tried do some tree climbing and almost pasted out because I had no stanima,(sp?), to withstand the lack of vit, amino's, and other nutrients that your body would normally be getting during regular eating. When in that mode your body shuts down the normal operations to focus on specific parts of your body. I'll be back for more commentary :D

We've not yet meet in person. So Sharon in Colarado, in order to be best friends you have to be able to know all about that person just not on this cyber world. There are so many things that you can't possibly know about someone just by being on this cyber world. Misslinda is my close friend here in this cyberworld of RAW.
Yo michigan roman - I didn't go AWOL, misslinda has been holding down the fort, so to speak with her normal gifted tactics. I've just been so busy and exhausted with work, I haven't been able to keep in touch with everybody.

Sharon in Colorado,
on your liquid 3 day cleanse, what type did you do and what were the results?
Hey tvillemon, Where are you picking up your magnesium and in what form. And how are you taking it?
Angeline,
It's nice that you pop in. I look foreward to your comments during your fast. As you did back when you and misslinda did a fast in october.
Jen,
You did mentiion that was alot of smoking in the area that you work at. During a fast, your body senses do tend to become heighten/ more increased due to the fact that you are in that mode. Misslinda may know of a way that could assit you while your going through that, along with anybody else here as well who has experience in the area.
tvillemon,
Do you have any pic's of that omega 8005?

path did you ever see the biking week they have i think in the fall up in northwestern lower penninsula michigan by i think boyne mountain .
everyone camps or gets rooms then is there for a week doing varying length bike trips and other health stuff . i never went to it just read about it . it sounds like a big event that someone into fitness like you might like . ive been in that region before snowmobiling and its a real scenic place . i bet the snowmobile trails would be awesome for trail biking , kinda hilly / rolling and very scenic with small towns sprinkled throughout . i read about it in one of those free papers that bike stores have out for their customers to take . i was buying my awesome odessey brand all metal toothed on both sides pedals , thee total boss pedal for maximum traction .
well im on i think day 5 now , some juices some water some herbal tea - the cranberry tea with lemon juice squeezed in is boss .
had another big battle yesterday because all my family went to ann arbor michigan for one of my brothers sons hockey tourney and between games we all went to an restraunt for lunch . there was like 12 people around me plus all the other patrons gorging . and if i didnt have alissas board to think back to i would have been shaking . but now ive reached a nice platuea where i feel im burning body fat for strength and am good to go . while all the while flushing out any unburnable / un utilizable materials (internal pollution) at a cellular level which shall lead to greater vitality . thusly im entering the FASTING ZONE with all other fasters . and one possible tip ide add is that on the day after you start fast be ready at the dinner hour to have a big hunger so have your water or juice or tea or whatever ready to fend off the want for solids .
bye bye now :)

OH yes, JEN, Path301 is right. Senses will become heightened and your body may respond more abruptly and intensely as it is in fasting mode and around irritants and toxins. There are a few things you can do to ease it....
Suugestions: You can carry some essential oils for aromatherapy. eucalyptus great for bronchial tubes, sinuses andcirculation. Cedarwood is great for neutralizing the air. Lemon,Thyme and rosemary too.
Skin brushing everyday to stimulate our lymphatic system.
Mustard seed powder as detox bath
Green juices neutralize toxins in the body.

May living water be the source of goodness the next 4 days. I will start with fuji, ginger and celery for a few days. Dilluted and strained.

Today marks day 15 for me. I don't feel like I have hit that point where you feel an abundance of energy or clarity yet. I think it will come. I haven't been exercising as much or doing my usual yoga routine. Feel like my system has been fighting to stay warm and I'm in hibernation mode. Course if I pushed myself to work out more I might just warm up. Now theres a novel thought.
I'm going to try following Dr. Cousens recipe for structured water this week and focus on observing my thoughts as a witness. Lots of emotional toxins have been coming to the surface this last week and I let it affect my balance.
So glad I'm not alone in this fasting process!!
Wishing all of you peace and a happy birthday wish for Path. You are hitting 38 5 days before me.

I'm really happy to have found some more people who'll be fasting at the same time as me.
A bit about me....
I'm female, 32 next month, a full time student and a full time mother.
This is my second fast. My first was 30 days and I loved it! As soon as I was finished I wanted to fast again straight away but I managed to contain myself until now. Last time, I sort of took it one day at a time - setting myself mini goals of 3 days, 1 week, 10 days, 2 weeks etc. I was amazed at how easy it was, how great I felt and how much energy I had - really looking forward to that aspect of it.
My reasons for fasting....
Well, detoxification of course. I've been cleansing for about a year and a half now, I previously had many, many bad habits and used medication including broad spectrum antibiotics and high oestrogen birth control pill, and as a result ended up with my health all messed up with the usual battery of ailments that come from living like that.
Also, I'd be lying if I said I didn't wanna drop a few pounds ;)
I'm going to be working more on the emotional / spiritual / mental side of things this time - during the last one I underwent a course of analytical hypnotherapy which yielded some really good results. So I'll be continuing in that vein using EFT and Reiki (self applied), self hypnosis and binaural beats recordings, meditation, and affirmation / goal setting software.
I'll be juicing fresh fruit and veggies, using potassium broths and herbal teas for the actual fast, and to aid detoxification I'll be dry skin brushing, oil pulling, self massage, rebounding, detox baths and bentonite clay foot baths and using hot/cold showers.
Exercise-wise, I'll be walking by the sea for an hour each evening, and I'm going to see how I handle some gentle jogging.
Phew... was that TMI??
Anyway, it's day 1 for me and I'm sipping a lemon & ginger tea while I'm typing.... my first juice will be pineapple and ginger (I do fruits in the AM, veggies for lunch & dinner).
Good luck everyone - I'm looking forward to reading about how everyone gets on xx

Good morning!!
I am ready for this day!
Friday, I wore a 55% acrylic sweater, and by Friday night had broke out in whealts (sp?) all over my upper torso. My skin was crawling....and still itchy even this morning! I HAD to take some allergy meds all weekend just to keep itching down. :( This was a serious allergic reaction, as I have never been allergic to anything before! But at least this morning, I am not as itchy, and feel like getting on with some juice will help clear everything up.
Misslinda: I think I won't worry about bm's. I bought some red clover at the HFS and if I really feel the need....I may drink some after a few days of "nothing moving"
Path: I am "challenged" at posting pics...but I bought the Omega 8005 from a website...2-life.com....they have pics there. It's chrome...quite pretty. DH liked it, thought it looked cool. It's definitely something you can leave out in the kitchen. OH yeah, I didn't find any magnesium powder at the HFS....but I have some tablets...I thought of crushing them up??? BUT maybe I only need to do this if I think I'm miserable from "not going?" The thoughts of toxins leaking back in because they haven't been flushed out kinda grosses me out.
Well, I'm off to skin brush and have some water to start with....
What juice combo's are ya'll having??
I'm thinking something with lemon...I think my first juice will be: spinach, apple, celery, cucumber, lemon...YUM!
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

tvillemom,
Good morning. Have you ever had that sweater on before?
Also your body will try to get rid of it's toxins through many different routes. One being your sweat glands. It's very possible the what ever was coming out of you mixed with the sweater's fibers and your heat of your body to cause this reaction. What do you think misslinda and anybody else out there?
Here's a really easy way to share a pic if you can't get the pic to resize themselves and all that jazz. just go to that page that has the pic or site and click on the address bar with your right button and copy the address. Then in this posting page right click your mouse again and click paste. Once it's pasted. Take your mouse and left click and highlight it then go up the B I U in the upper left corner and select the underlined U
this will allow anybody who views what you typed they can click on the underlined address and it will take them there. =

Then before you submit the post, goto the preview post to make sure it works, this is what alot of us do - :D
Thanks for the address.

I was sooooo upset with all the itching that I didn't even consider giving it to Goodwill. :( Oh well. I will try to post pics.....thanks for the directions.
It's lunch time and my tummy's growling at me. :p The next couple of days will be the hardest, right? Then it gets easier? I hope??

Yep, the first day is the hardest.....I'm usually alittle agitated by evening and then I sleep early b/c food thoughts can be compelling!
By day three usually, most feel lighter and brighter.
Day 5 is the hardest for me. The body at about this point give or take a few days for some, is when the body releases toxins about 80% of the body.

Or are some of you sorta preping yourself and couple of days to start your body being able to adjust to the changes of food intake?

Path: I ate really light this weekend. Cold turkey today.
Headache coming on.....too much food in the house. I know this will be harder than I thought. With 3 kids...eating all day (we homeschool) OH WELL. I'm fine. Looking forward to Day 6 :D Maybe by then I will be in a better state of mind.
Off to do the mountain of laundry that has formed...keeping busy.

Thanks Michigan Roman! I will look into that. Huddled in blankets by the fire is not the most productive thing to do, so I will have to look into it fast.
Looks like everyone had a good fasting day today. I had an amusing one. Here in Portland Oregon the weather has been very cold ( we don't get that cold here) and our neighborhood park called Laurelhurst has frozen over. I got a phone call this afternoon from my daughter who was stuck in the middle of the frozen duck pond at this park. She thought it would be a cool idea to finally make it to the weeping willow tree that is on the island out in the middle of this duck pond and climb it. Once she got out to the island she was afraid to walk back because she saw this skaterboarder who I guess was trying to impress her with his ability to do some sort of skatecapade show with his board. He finally did fall off of the board and part of his leg went through the ice. She immediately called me saying she was stranded on the duck pond and a skateboard dude was trying to pull himself out of the water. I was doing a story problem in my head trying to figure out how much bigger the skateboarder was than I, how much speed it took him to crash through the ice, (would I have to rescue him too?) and how in the world do I get a freaked out 90 pound daughter off the frozen duck pond. I didn't think the ice would hold my 112 frame and her 90 pounds at the same time, knowing full well my daughter was going to make me cross the ice and help her back. I ended up borrowing a plastic sled and rope, threw it out to my daughter and pulled her back in. Phew!! I always thought it was supposed to be the terrible twos that made being a parent interesting, but my 13 and 14 year old keep me going from morning to night....and I wouldn't want it any other way. They are the best. :)
Today I stuck to the raw lemonaide and drank some detox tea during the night. Had enough energy to throw plastic sleds and do yoga today, so it's been a good day.
Wishing everyone another great day of fasting!!!

Good morning, I think. I rested well....slight headache this morning. I am still itchy this morning, after the awful rash this weekend. The rash is gone, but still itchy???? I'm wondering when I will STOP itching.
This morning I'm juicing 1/4 of a beet for the first time. Anybody ??? Any strange effects I should look for?? I've heard that beets are very cleansing.
I have a slight headache this morning, which in the past, escalates during the day, so I'm drinking plenty of water, hoping to keep it at a minimum. Our family life is very busy right now, and I can't be in the bed out of commission. We own a cleaning business, where we clean offices. NOW, my DH is referree-ing a Middle school game on the night we usually clean, so me and my kids are going to have to clean all alone on Thursday night, and 1 of the businesses we will switch up and clean tonight (so I can't be "sick") NOT to mention my 3 kids each have basketball practice on 3 different nights, dance for DD on Monday afternoons, and church on Wednesday night...oh yeah, basketball games start on Saturday. My kids are in a Christian league called "Upwards"...very popular here (anyone heard of it?) Since my kids are different ages, their time slots are all different. DD (age 6) is early morning, DS (age 9) is mid-day, around lunch time, and DS (age 11) is afternoon, around 3pm. We are busy all day on Saturday until Mid-March.
CRAAAAZZY!!
Just thinking of it all makes my head spin!
OK....just take 1 day at a time (I have to remind myself)
Thinking that this fast will help me get more organized....last fast I got my whole house cleaned up because I seemed more focused and had more energy! So this is one thing I look forward to!
I'm done...off to juice....I will post any side effects later....how is everyone else this morning??
I hope everyone is GREAT!
Have a great day 2...or for michiganroman day 8??? I'm jealous!
Take care.

Well, today is Day 1 for me because I caved yesterday ... because I didn't feel well over the weekend I had eaten a certain, non-raw, comfort food and I craved it again last night and caved. Darn! I started the day real well too ... and this morning I feel bloated. Oh well, I'm still aiming for 14 days.
This morning I got up early and made myself some juice: 6 carrots, stalk of broccoli, some spinach, pear, 1/4 lemon, clove of garlic, and inch of ginger
I normally strain my juice and I found that I have 2 strainers and one is finer than the other ... so I put it through one strainer and then through the 2nd one ... I was amazed at the amount of fiber/sludge that my Champion juicer leaves in my juice. I guess that is "normal" though eh? I just don't like the grainey texture in my juice ... so I'm glad that I found that finer strainer :D
tvillemom - you go girl! You know that food is not the source of your strength so tap into the JOY and you will be able to keep up ;) p.s. in reading some old posts I read where your birthday is the end of May ... mine is too ...

I started a 21 day fast on Friday...doing 7-days juice, 7-days water, 7-days juice. I felt amazing the first couple of days, yesterday I started feeling a little weak, today I feel "funny" as in weak and lightheaded a bit.
Someone asked about beet juice: I've been making what I call "blood juice" which is 2 beets, carrots, apple, ginger. It looks like blood and is good for my blood thus the name. I think beets are good for cleansing the lymphatic system and the blood, not sure what else they might do. I've also been drinking diluted citris juices. Today I also have a "green juice" which is pear, spinach, celery, lemon.
I'm glad I can join in this support group. Some people think I'm crazy or starving myself. They don't understand the spiritual and physical benefits of fasting.
Oh, I posted a question in a new thread, I'd sure like some input on if ya'll don't mind!

Welcome frecs! Hope you are feeling better soon. How much beet is too much? The recipes I have call for about 1/4 beet w/greens...per juice, is more better?? I like the juice I had this morning:
1/4 beet
5 carrots
1 apple.
(about 12:00 I had some green tea)
Next I'm having (1:30pm)
1/4 beet
spinach
4 carrots
"dinner" might be all green:
kale, spinach, apple, celery, cucumber
Lots of water today. Even though I'm only drinking, I feel thirsty, WHY???? Anybody???
Ya'll have a great one.
I plan to do some light cardio/dance in the morning, and some yoga...trying to sweat out more toxins!!

I have no idea about whether one can have too much beet in a juice or not. I'm not following any particular recipe....just going by intuition.
I am experiencing the same thing with thirst...seems the more I drink the thirstier I get! I certainly can't be dehydrated! I can only figure that it's our bodies needing more fluid for flushing out the cells...???
misslinda
01-16-2007, 09:19 PM
Yes, it is possible to do too much beet juice. It's very concentrated and it's high in sugar. For those that are blood sugar sensitive until they level out, is suggested to stay away from beet and carrot the first week. If not, combine with green juices. It's also advised to do only 2 oz a day if at all of beet juice. I find the golden beet to be more lenient.
Tvillemom, WOW you are rawkin this fasting time around! I don't know your fasting view entirely but just a word of caution. Since blood pressure has dropped to accomodate our bodies on fasting mode, it is ideal to rest and do light types of movements like yoga, walking and stretching.
Granted, I know and have read others doing strenuous workouts etc but I bodies truly want to concentrate on using it energy and enzymes toward healing/cleansing. Exercising--At everyone's discretion.
The second day, I always feel like a zombie or somekind of ghost coming to light!
I was at the store and starred at the food boxes :p I started to laugh and walked away.........
Picked up some cucumbers and apple. more ginger tomorrow.

had 1 glass of water and 1 glass of pineapple juice today .
misslinda no dreams to report .
have a nasty taste on tongue .
im planning on getting some V8 type vegis (tomato cuke carrot celery spinach pepper cabbage onion - anyone correct me if im wrong on this recipe) to have ready if i start feeling weak . and since i no longer like what the spinning blade type juicer i have does to plants im going back to my original way of finely chopping up vegis , then mashing them real good with a hand held manual potato masher , then putting them in a bowl of water to wick out the nutrients from the pulp , then straining mixture many times through varying finenesses of strainers til pulp removed in order to get a building / strengthening type drink as opposed to the cleansing type drink that fruits are said to be . this is the outlook of the late nutritionist / scientist / raw foodist dr norman walker .
this type drink i believe shall allow me to stay on a liquid diet longer and thusly attain a more complete flushing out of cellular pollution . though i dont plan on drinking alot of this drink constantly , just when i need it . i'll just go by my taste buds = either water - warm water with lemon - juiced fruits diluted with water - herbal teas - or the mentioned V8 type drink .
hey in case anyone ever liked that old jackie gleason movie ' smokie and the bandit ' and its theme song that goes ' east bound and down , rolling down the highway , we gonna do what they say cant be done , etc etc " i made up a fasting song takeoff of it to keep me focused . it goes like this =
' fast bound and down , rolling down the highway , we gonna do what they say cant be done , we gotta long fast to go , and no food to get there , come on son and watch raw foodist fun . "

Today ( it's actually early wednesday morning now, not today tuesday that is in my mind........oh boy, maybe I shouldn't be posting at 1 in the morning....anyway yesterday was a fun day. We got a bunch of snow here in Portland. I only got 2 hours of sleep but right away I was talked into walking to the park with my kids and sledding down the hill on a skateboard without the wheels. Two hours later, totally soaked and frozen with a few pulled muscles we walked back home completely enjoying the morning snow before most were out of bed. The kids have another snow day for wednesday. I think I better get some sleep, because I have a bad cold and sound like kermit the frog. I don't care, something about fresh snow, and fasting makes the world extra beautiful and joyful.
Kept with the master cleanse again today. I didn't get as much meditating in as I wanted.
Michigan Roman, when I get to the raw juice phase of this fast I am going to try putting cayenne in my favorite raw juice I make which is tomato, parsley, spinach, carrots and celery. Some say you shouldn't use tomatoes when you are fasting, but I haven't come across the reason for that opinion yet to decide against it. The cayenne is a good idea to warm it up. Maybe I'll add some ginger too.
I'm sledding down the fasting highway on a skateboard with no wheels. Look out!!
Wishing you all a peaceful fasting day!!

Good morning????? I am SOOOO tired this morning. I just want to go back to bed. I cleaned up the kitchen, (from last nights rushed dinner that we ate and RAN out the door... :o ) and just now had juice: spinach, celery, cucumber, apple. At 10 am I feel like it's time for a nap. SOOOO Misslinda don't worry, I won't be exercising this morning....just surviving. However, my tummy is not feeling hungry at all....despite feeling major hunger pains when I went to sleep. I felt really productive yesterday...lots of laundry done....ball practice, cleaned 1 business....maybe too much yesterday made me feel wiped out today?? BUT I felt sooo good yesterday. Oh well it's just a process.
I will take it easy.
Yesterday, for michigan roman, and Angeline, I had Alissa's "lemon ginger cayenne shot" p. 536. It was yummy.... really yummy, and easy to "whip up" and REALLY warmed me up. I am wanting more lemons to make more today!! And Alissa says (in her book) it's good for detox. Maybe that's what's happening to me???!!!!
Path What is a blender salad???? Sorry, sounds gross. Maybe...but I guess to others, a "green smoothie" with spinach sounds gross to "them" too!!
Michigan Roman Love the song remake!! AND I'll fight ya both to drive the trans am....
Misslinda: How are you feeling?? How about those falling injuries??? Hope you are doing well.
Angeline: Sounds like something my boys do...WHEN it does snow here, they take the wheels off their skateboards and "snowboard" down our LITTLE hill in the front yard!! I would never attempt it though

Today and tomorrow are it for juicing and then it's on to 7 days of water. My church will be starting a 7-day water fast on Friday so I'll have company for that part of it.

I just burned a little sage to move the air stagnancy....did some deep breathing and listening to "the wind beckons" and "golden meadows." I may even do a castor oil pack on my liver area to prevent day 5 ish from being overbearing with toxins.
Enjoyed 2 glasses of lemon water and allowing all the flow to take place in their time as well.

Hi Wendi,
I attend a non-denominational Pentacostal church (www.hpwc.org). For the last several years in January, our Pastor has called us to a fast. The year before last it was 21-days water/juice, last year it was 14-days Daniel Fast/7-day water...I think before I started there he even did a 40-day but I'm sure it wasn't water-only!...but this year he just called us to a 7-day liquid fast...giving room for some to use juice if they need to while encouraging water-only for those who are up to it. It's an amazing time, to say the least. Before he told us he was only calling us to do 7-days, I'd already prepared myself mentally for a 21-day fast so that's what I'm doing.
I wish I could say that everyone in the church participates in these fasts, but that's not the case. But, most at least attempt it unless they have a medical condition in which case they resort to the "fasting something they love" option. Of course, there are also the what-do-you-mean-I-have-to-do-more-than-warm-the-pew types who can't see any value in practicing a spiritual or physical discipline. <sigh>

I just feel soooo dry...is there any help during the fast??? I'd appreciate any ideas...I'm pretty miserable with the itching.(Feeling like a flea bitten dog!)
Thanks. Other than these little problems, my fast is full steam ahead, at least for today.

Michigan roman.....right now, I'm not feeling like much the leader. I was seriously thinking of caving. Thanks for the incouragement! You don't know how much I needed it at just this moment!! I have to get to the grocery store for some more veggies to juice. Weather is bad here, so I've decided to go ahead, and take my time with the kids.
I'm pressing on, not giving in!
Thanks a million, mr.

yes tvillemom i was visiting over at my mas day after day last week as she cooked favorite meal after favorite meal for my brothers and their families and because of my belief in people like allisa and norman walker (a raw foodist / scientist) , plus my observations of what the cooked diet is doing to our societys health the cooked stuff no longer has a grip on me .
alissas site and the internet are my havens away from the peer pressure of our cooked society . my favorite list is packed with tens of health sites for nutrition fasting herbs disease etc . my computer is my college where im getting a degree in raw . and conversing with fellow rawbies like you in the same battle gives me focus / strength to stick to my guns . so i hope ya stick to your guns cuz knowing you and others are doing same thing is helping me .

You all are doing great ... especially tvillemom ... you are such an inspiration.
Me, well, I went on a junk food binge and feel like crap. I was on such a roll after Christmas and into the New Year and then I lost focus.
Well, I'm not going to say I am totally out of the fast ... today was a green smoothie and I am bringing 12 large bottles of Figi water with me to the Singles Conference along with some organic bananas and apples ... in case I feel I *need* something and also to share with my roomies.
I am believing that after the Singles Conference I will be able to do a 7-day water-only fast.
Thank you all for your inspiration ...

Thanks MR and girlsmiley. Ya'll make me feel special. So far today I've done very well. I've been very emotional...and in prayer for my church family, biological family, and friends. Praying that God will TELL me what causes this awful rash, so that I can add or take away from my diet what needs to be!

angeline you gotta be out at around day 20 or so , wow you must be able to hold your gut in rock hard by now . thats a great feeling . plus another one is running on a fast , i did some sprints today and i feel so light , fast and deep breathed its amazing .
Michigan Roman I"m almost to 20 days. I'm on day 19 as of today. I can't wait for day 21 and 22. Last time I fasted it was on those days that I felt a real fasting high. I don't know how long this fast is going to last for me. Just taking it day to day and listening to my system. Right now it's telling me I have a long ways to go.
Does anyone know anything about reflexology? I think that is the right term I'm thinking about. I'm getting some really painful areas on my foot. I know that the foot has spots that are connected to various organs. The spots are in the insole near the heel, and also near the heel up along the outer side. I think I'm getting deeper into detoxing. My cartoid (spelling wrong maybe) artery in my neck is puffy, painful and visibly protruding out. I have no idea why or what is going on there. It hurts to have anything touch it or lay my head down. I'm also stuck awake battling a migraine. Not complaining here, just trying to figure out the symptoms, so hope no one feels negative energy coming from this post.
Hope everyone is sleeping peacefully. It's 2 in the morning here on the west coast.
Peace to all of you.

Girlsmiley...I enjoyed checking out your church's website...I love the internet!
Today begins the water-only portion of my fasting. After seven days of juice, I feel calm and clean. It seems like I can't drink enjoy...I'm constantly thirsty....or am I confusing detox funk in my mouth with thirst? Yep, just checked my tongue...yucky film....
This fast time I'm doing something I've not done during previous fasts...daily communion. My Pastor suggested doing this and I gotta say that it adds a whole new dimension to the spiritual aspects of fasting.

Good morning. I woke up this morning with a massive headache! Not taking anything, but a magnesium tablet. Just magnesium, nothing else added. In the past, when I had headaches, or migrains, I found that taking a magnesium tablet 1 time/day cleared it up. I have cluster headaches...for days, and this really helps. I'm hoping it does this time. It felt weird to take the tablet on an empty stomach...but nothing hurting so far! :)
Angeline: WOW...19 days and counting...I'm thinking I'll have trouble getting past day 6.....or 10, but 20 days???!!! WOW...you go girl. Now I REALLY don't know how you pulled your DD across the frozen pond...and had the energy to do what you've done this week. I guess our body can do miraculous things, while healing!
Michigan Roman: Your mouth sounds like some serious detox! I also suffer from "film" that causes an awful taste in my mouth, and I brush more than anyone I know. I'm hoping that my body will seriously detox what causes this...maybe my 10-12 day fast will have to be extended.
This is where I could use ya'lls advice. If I have a "couple chili's bash" on Saturday the 27th....and HAVE TO eat...I'm taking chili myself...raw...it has been requested... and I have to taste it, and eat at least a small amount while I'm there. If I want to continue my fast as much as possible...could I just eat a small amount? Should I eat some fruit on Saturday, or Friday...and eat a small amount on Saturday night...then I would like to continue my fast on Sunday. Will EVERYTHING be blown?? Will it be like starting ALL over? If so, I'm just not sure I could cope with the "first 5 days" all over again! What do ya'll think? Should I just explain to everyone that I'm fasting, and not eat at all...and rely on my recipe to make the chili (without tasting it?)
Hope everyone is doing well....Misslinda...how are you? Path????
Girlsmiley....how are you....hope the singles retreat is MORE than you hoped for! ;) (I'm just the hopeless romantic, hoping for "the one" for everyone!)
God Bless ya'll ....peace and HAPPY DETOXING :D

Hey all....extremely wore out this 5th day. Grocery shopping today kicked my butt....kids were trying to be helpful, but they are still crazy kids!! ;)
Misslinda: 92 days???? What would be the benefit of this??? It seems just way too extreme and UNHEALTHY?? I guess I'll check out the site....but I think it's alittle extreme, and would probably cause more health problems than good??? OF course this is my uneducated opinion! I should do more research, I guess. I don't know if I could ever do that. I wonder if I can get past each and every day, much less....92.
Hanging in there today.
Tomorrow will probably be easier, being out with only water available will help drastically.
I doubt I will have time to post tomorrow, or even Sunday, if not, I WILL REMAIN IN MY FAST....AND CHECK YA'LL OUT ON MONDAY.
Take care, God Bless, my prayers are with you.

PS. I have been soooo emotional today. After reading a thread on the "recipes" board...about "smokin raw food", it brought up childhood memories of building fires in our wood stove/fireplace to keep the house warm, and HAD TO call my Dad and tell him (tearily) how much I appreciated him working so hard to give us a good life....(that all went along with childhood memories!) I'm crying today at the drop of a hat. I guess it's detox. love, love, love...... ;)

Angeline, I'm glad to see you are at 20 days pretty soon..wow! I hope your migraines are subsiding too.
As for reflexology...picture looking at your 2 feet side to side and touching. From the bottom they form a map of your body. Your big toes touching is your head! The heels would be your lower legs and feet...intestines are in the lower center...kidneys are in the arches...does this make sense?
Putting essential oil of lavender on the soles help break up the crystalization that forms on nerve endings in the feet...as does massaging them and poking at your feet with your finger tips...you will detox more tho...so be prepared if you try it. Smell lurverly too!
Here's a map...hope it helps.
Wish you and all a healthy fasting time..
Here is a map.

I'm now on day 9 of my fast, day 2 of water-only. Feeling some hunger sensations but not too strong. I'm figuring this is from switching from juice to water. I have moments when I feel a bit lightheaded but mostly I feel calm and quiet inside if that makes sense.
Tonight I have to go bowling with the singles group -- I'm the one that schedules events and I picked bowling on the 20th before I knew that it would be during fasting. I'm not sure how many will show up tonight on their second day of fasting but I have to be there for whomever does show.

is it possible to lose 30 pounds in 30 days water fast?
Hi there and welcome!
Your question like many similary ones in the past, make me soooooooo nervous. To be quite honest and up front, fasting is NOT about losing weight......weight happens to be a result of abstaining from food to heal, cleanse and rebuild.
Typically, the first week, it's a 1 lb loss then thereafter, an average of about less than half to one half IF at all.........even then it depends. Some don't lose any the first week. I know one gals who water fasted for 12 days and lost no weight. If you truly do fasting for the right reasons, you will be successful. The ones that are inspired by the weightloss, usually have food issues or end up yo yo-ing.
Good luck to you, ;)

If I can survive the weekend...well...most of all the "eating" festivities have passed. Breakfast yesterday morning was cooked food for my family that they cook at the basketball game (the church people cook, and we buy...) And it smelled sooo good...but I lasted...just had juice and water.
This morning (church) they always serve pastries and coffee/cappecino...and INSTEAD...I sliced a lemon...and in a ziploc bag I took a wedge of lemon, crushed in some ginger, and sprinkled in some cayenne pepper., and took this to church...talk about an AMAZING alternative to my usual. I just asked for hot water when I got there. I was in fasting heaven...and what a way to go into the most amazing church service!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELINE!! Sorry I think I'm alittle late!
Michigan roman: I will not break my fast to please others...but have been praying about it, and 10 days seems to suit me right now. BUT, as day 10 approaches, I will continue to pray and search myself. I KNOW the recipe I am making, so I don't necessarily have to TRY it, and others who know me KNOW I am fasting....so it won't be a surprise if I am still fasting then. We'll see. :D
I feel great today! I have had good energy
HEY, when my family ate out with friends today, I politely asked for...what else...hot water with lemon. I REALLY enjoyed that while everyone ate Italian...I won't name the foods they ate, but some were my old SAD favorites. The GREAT thing that happened was I sat there thinking about the RAW pasta I would make when My fast was over! :D I didn't even WANT the SAD stuff...
The biggest fear I have on ending the fast is that ....last time I fasted (5 days) I broke the fast with some fruit in the morning...and then by that night, I was binging on cooked food at a party! I felt starved, and that I could not eat enough. This time I am planning a SLOW break!!
I REALLY HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL. IT'S SO GREAT TO BE ON DAY 7!!
Thanks for your support!

Hi Miss Linda... that is so wise... and as you say that is a question that is asked fairly often. May I add 'this part' of your above suggestion... as a "quote" from you... for the Fasting Support thread? I think that would be helpful to others too. Or, anyway you might prefer to say it.
Presently, there is a link for weight loss that I added to that thread as so many ask about this. However, it seems it would be wise to add a quote from you... in these regards before that information... to help others as they make choices with fasting. Please let me know if you're comfortable with that... Thanks

Misslinda thank you for that kind birthday message. That gave me a smile that I really needed.
Tvillemom and Star1919, thank you also for the birthday wishes :-)
I feel like i am starting from scratch now on this fast. Yesterday I ended up in the ER and had to stay overnight. My daughter called 911 and an ambulance came and got me. They gave me demerol and phenergen, and then later dilaudid and visterol. I feel positively toxic!. The worst thing about it is that I feel like I was forced into it. I was in shock from pain and my nuerologist gave the order to get the pain and nausea under control. I was really dehydrated and really low blood pressure.
I'll ask the experts out there on fasting......does this mean I'm starting all over again? :-(
Actually the worst part is that after all that medicine they injected into me, I'm still fighting this monster migraine. This wasn't the way I had envisioned my birthday to go. I'll have to celebrate later.
Sorry for this negative post. :-( I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on what this did for fasting. I guess I will just have to start fresh again.
Wishing you all peace and strength, looks like everyone is still doing good. Proud of you all!!!!

ps- did you ever try breathing in the steam of boiling cabbage for a headache ? i never read this but found it out on my own to help me .

Angeline, what were you experiencing that lead you to the ER???
Dehydrated can result from the toxin overload.....day approx 5-7 --body is 80% toxins.
what have you been drinking/juicig???
do you do enemas?
NFrawRUNNER
01-22-2007, 04:11 AM
Angeline-Hope you are feeling better? What brought you to the ER to begin with? Maybe it was your system dumping toxins your body could not keep up with? Are you ok? Rest and sleep my dear....yeah, me giving advice....
I am posting here to see if it's ok that I join your "fast" ...for this week anyway....{{I stick my toe cautiously in the pool because you guys are "the fasting experts" and I can never seem to last more than a day}}.....but I have been feeling awful lately and my old "issues" are creeping back in on me (IBS, bloating, gallbladder?, weight gain, inflammation, moodiness, etc...) thought a few days of fasting would clear my head....and my intestinal track, and get me back on the proper path for me! So, my PLAN is to water only fast today, adding a kombucha if I am climbing the walls, MC for the remainder of the work week, and do the liver flush again on Saturday, juice fast on Sunday, and start the raw version of the Maker's Diet on Monday (Phase 1) which will last for 40 days and I will fast one day per week too.....So, I have put my plan down "on paper" here and need to be held accountable :o ....so you fasting "coaches" can check on me ok? ;) I am usually pretty good about following through on things once I write them down so I am hoping that by posting my "plan" here I will follow through!!!! So, I raise my water glass to you right now and pray for the best!

Good morning! I drank my lemon/ginger/cayenne water concoction pretty much all day yesterday. Then, this morning I read on this board about the MC and rawpriestess replied that lemon was cleansing(of course) but the cayenne was added to help cleanse parasites etc.....I think that is way cool that I was actually LOVING this cayenne yesterday!! My plan is to drink LOTS of water today....and some juice.
Angeline: I don't know if you saw my previous post about your migrains....but I had a really close friend who suffered from sickening migrains everyday for weeks. After going to a specialist, who put her on presc. meds, but gave her internet websites to research for herself, she found a common link of Magnesium deficiency to be a cause of migrains. After taking some Magnesium at night (about 125mg) her migrains disappeared!!! With no painkillers!! AND when I have suffered from migrains I've found that drinking LOTS of water helps!! I sure hope you are feeling better....and I wouldn't think your fast would be over...you did great....just please take care of yourself. I'm worried about you!!!! Should I say that again....I'M WORRIED ABOUT YOU!!!! ;)
NFrawRunner: Welcome!!! Best of luck to you....keep posting. I've found that coming here is the only way I've made it!!!! I know I've spent tooo much time some days here, but it's what I needed at the time....YOU CAN DO IT!!
Misslinda: I see you posting to everyone else, worrying about them, encouraging them.....and that's great, but I'm wondering how you are doing??? What have you been going through??? ;)
Michigan roman: Try adding some ginger and cayenne to the baggie with that lemon....YUMMO! Thanks for all your support! Muchly appreciated!!

I'm planning to meet with the Pastor this week to talk about taking the Singles Ministry down another path -- divorce care -- and letting the other lady who is actually the head of the ministry and her new husband take on the adult part of the ministry while I minister to the children of the divorcees. We'll see but I'm just fed up with spinning my wheels on a minstry that just won't get out of neutral.
Yesterday was a fabulous church service -- mostly a powerful worship service and prayer service. It's amazing how fasting can bring us so much closer to God. It's a shame that more Christians don't practice fasting as a discipline. In the afternoon, I developed a headache and so I drank as much water as I could and rested.
Today (day 11 of fast/day 4 of water only) I feel pretty good. The hunger pangs are all but gone. I have found myself eyeballing lemons like they were Godiva cho...well you know...but I'll wait until Friday before indulging.

Thank you, I hope I fly, cuz like I said fasting is sooooooo difficuly for me??? Keep talking me through it! I have a lot to do today anyway so it should be easy. I did hear of a raw (female) marathoner (name??) who pr'd after a week long water fast....encouraging as my times have been slowing....I's sure that has nothing to do with turning 40 soon ;) At any rate, I need a lot of encouragement to stick to it. There is so much food in my house (large family) I think I'll avoid the kitchen completely! I am currently holed up in my BR about to start mounds of paperwork so that should pass the day right? I already put in 11 miles on the treadmill...Is mineral water ok to drink? I am out of Aquafina until DH gets home and did not want to drink tap water??? I also have kombucha (by Synergy) and lemons/grapefruit/ginger....although today I really wanted to just have H2o...

great NFRR im glad your on board !
hey on tap water if you run it through the blender a minute then let it sit out uncovered alot of the the chlorine evaporates out ive read . ive done it and it sure taste ALOT different .
also for me when started fasting and raw i used green tea alot because of its appetite suppressing property , it helped to the max .
and let me try posting this address here because theres some good fasting points at the site , plus talk of an excellent sounding fasting book at amazon for $10 by a dr joel furman = an ex olympic skater - dr + athlete sounds like an opinion i want to hear to the max !
www.healingdaily.com/juicing-for-health/fasting.htm .
this guy who created this site is just a civilian thinking for himself but he sure presents some good information once you start digging in to the pages . when your reading there he underlines points brought up and when you see those that pertain to you click them to go to other pages which detail that topic .
and earlier in this thread i posted the address to a good fasting site www.drbenkim.com it might help to check out NF .
heyd you ever hear of a long distance runner named something like dale carnzarres , he runs in the wild and does like 150 miles per click .

Michigan Roman- Thank you for the tips....I am just awful at this! I am jonesin' for the apples down in my kitchen RIGHT NOW and it's barely noon!!!! MUST RESIST....MUST CLEANSE....THINK I'LL DRINK SOME WATER AND TAKE A NAP! I may as well right? Does anyone else have the same problem as me or am I just week...I am not actually hungry...just drooling for food...Why is that? Just social expectations that food must be had every few hours? I definately have food issues from my past....My mom, although I love her dearly always "wanted a taste" of EVERYTHING (and still does!) and I resented it as a kid learning to eat fast or hide my food....Why? Just a primal terretorial thing I guess. To this day I WILL NOT SHARE MY FOOD AND PITY THE FOOL  THAT ASKS FOR A TASTE! I know that sounds selfish, but it's my perk....Maybe that's why I have a hard time fasting? Afraid someone will eat those apples down stairs even though I can certainly get more??? Do you think that's why I have a binge tendency too? Dear old mom routinely pointed out how "big" my legs were (I was athletic but chunky as a teenager...big legs were not the look I was going for!!!) Well, believe it or not I feel better and think I'll just rest and do my report cards now....Thanks for getting me through this....I AM HEALING FROM WITHIN (my mantra for the day!)
yes, Dale K. is a crazy and admiralble extreme endurance runner! People think I run a lot should read about him! He did 50 marathons in 50 days ending with the NYC marathon November 5th (I was there!)...But can you believe Lance Armstrong got MORE publicity? Yep, sure did. Personally, I think Kristin Armstrong is the underdog athlete in that ex-couple....
Have a good day....That's not my stomach rumbling either right? It's my distended intestines healing and contracting right?

is it possible to lose 30 pounds in 30 days water fast?
Hi - Fasting expert Paul C Bragg spoke of losing a pound a day on water fasting. The road map is a bit different for everyone here, but this is a realizable expectation. In the first 2-3 days, one could lose several pounds, but don't be fooled by that, as it could just be the bowels emptying. Then the expectation gets too high and disappointment could set in when the weight loss slows down. How active you are is another factor, but I wouldn't recommend much activity for most people who are water fasting, unless their system is already very clean.
It's not the speed of the weight loss that's so important as is the longterm change of lifestyle as we move away from toxicidy. Weight loss will be inevitable with pure bodies.

Now, allow me to justify :D My aides from school pitched in and sent over a HUUUUGE fruit basket overflowing with abundance...I knew that once this fast was over (Sunday) and I start the "raw" version of the Maker's Diet for 40 days I couldn't eat the grapes...so yeah, my old selfish issues took over!!!! Good morning all. :D
I broke my fast. I ate a few frozen banana chips yesterday.
I consciously (sp?) decided to, so that is good. I was becoming so consumed with food, that I was afraid, with ALL the SAD food in my house, that I would break it on something NOT good for me. So, I decided to SLOWLY add a small amount of fruit a day.
So, today the plan is warm tea, juice, and a small, small smoothie (probably with just a small amount of frozen banana and water)
Are there any other ideas about which foods are the best? I know I should take it slow. I'm craving peaches...so I'm thinking a couple slices of peach, if I can find any decent peaches at the market this morning....
I'll take any advice.
Thanks for all your support!! Ya'll hang in there!!
Wendi
PS. Other SAD people would still consider me fasting....funny huh??

Hi everyone,
How are you all getting on? I'm still going strong, on day 9 here - been really busy so I haven't posted since day one. So far it's been great... I was really tired days 2 and 3, and had a pretty bad headache. Also very, very emotional on day 3. By now the energy and elevated mood has kicked in and I feel on top of the world.
Not had any cravings or desire for food - I found that on my last fast too, I never felt hungry once so fingers crossed this will be the same. Not sure why I don't get hungry - I've always just said to myself "The food will still be there when my fast is over...."
One thing that's wierd is that I'm really enjoying food smells, much more so than when I'm eating. I walk by the sea each evening and there's a seafood restaurant that I have to walk past.... the smells :o it's like aromatherapy ha ha.
I'm hoping to get in as much bodywork as I can during this fast - I had a full body massage yesterday (as part of my massage class), and I booked a shiatsu for next week - thinking about facial rejuvenation massage too. Also booked a session with a spiritual healer, looking forward to that. I realy want to take the opportunity to use this fast as a time to sort out a lot of head-stuff, it's my main reason for doing it (apart from detoxing).... that and the clarity of mind it gives me which I'll need as I've a ton of exams to study for and case studies to hand in :(
Does anyone else get massages or bodywork done while fasting? Does it help? I've heard that it can be effective for releasing energy blockages and therefore negative emotions and so on. I had a lot of old memories come up during my massage yesterday and felt like I wanted to cry at one point, but I felt elated afterwards and had loads of energy.
After I've had a few shiatsu sessions I might move on to the Bowen technique - anyone tried it?
Well done everyone - love and light for the rest of your fasting :)

I admire you all soooooo much! I am just weak! I cannot stick with a fast for even 24 hours!!!! How do you do it? I have 5 kids and a husband with a houseful of SAD food. I am not tempted by it, or am I but I give in and eat raw foods in huge amounts! Last night grapes,,,,,this a.m. I am embarrassed to say it was apples first (attempting to hold on but losing grip....and then....)...coconut and almonds!!!!!! I did then work out and after walking 10 miles on the treadmill I feel like maybe I can try anew....now....is that ok? if I just cease eating for the rest of today is that considered a partial fast? work with me my fasting experts, this is unchartered territory for me. I do feel like a failure you should know. It would have been very easy for me to just trail away from this thread with my tail between my legs but I do want to succeed! I just need a little more guidance....I still want to be able to run so can you guys recommend a better approach for me? Thanks

There are various ways of fasting. All are okay. You can fast a meal, or do "day fasting," i.e. juice fasting at work then eat in the eve, etc. There is even a "Daniel fast" (in the good book) where you eat only vegetables & water. The more water you're getting in your food, the closer you are to fasting. Ultimate fasting is water only. Some may disagree and say it's neither eating or drinking, but, imho, the principle benefit of fasting is in the cleansing, the flushing that comes by water. Jesus water fasted for 40 days before He felt actual hunger, and great leaders like Ghandi water fasted on a regular basis.
Were you fasting on water or juices? If you're not ready for water, as it takes a relatively pure system to sustain it well, raw juice fasting is an excellent alternative, preferably alternating between fruit & veg juices.
Once I fasted for 17 days on raw juices, then switched to water only. I was surprised at how weak I suddenly felt, plus I felt "hunger" pangs, cuz the juice was very pulpy & rich. I was a lot younger then. It was probably the caffeine deep in my system that made me so weak, cuz only 3 years before that, before I ever drank anything with caffeine, I fasted on water without weakness being much of a problem. I can't even recall if I felt weak.
However, a word to all you water fasters...
#1) Right on! Go for it! Let nature do her work. You will feel wonderful if you persist. Listen to some Celtic music or something mellowwwwwwww.
#2) Don't stand up too suddenly. You could faint! It happened to me once while water fasting. Go easy.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm no fasting expert, this is my second one, my first was 30 days and with that one, I didn't put myself under any pressure to do a fixed amount of days. But I can tell you honestly that I did not believe I'd make it through even one day... I started off by saying 'Ok, one day, let's see if I make it.' When I did, the next one was three days. When I made that, the next one was a week, and so it went on.
By day 11 (I think) I realised that I had amazed myself by doing something I always wanted to do but never believed I could, so I kept going - I loved the feeling of continually amazing myself.
I had, of course planned fasts previously, and also before this one, that didn't make it to the end of day one because I just wasn't in the right frame of mind... I don't see those as failures, just bad timing.
I think that having 5 kids and a houseful of SAD food would test anyone's patience - even staying raw in that environment would be a challenge. I just have one - 13 years old, and about 50% of the diet here would be SAD, and the other 50% (and my own) would be very healthy - I'm not 100% raw though, I have to be careful because my digestion is pretty damaged for various reasons. I'm trying to increase gradually as I sort it out bit by bit.
Basically, my son and partner don't mind eating the healthy stuff as long as they can have a certain amount of SAD treats (sometimes a lot  )
Keep the chin up, if it's too hard then maybe it's not the right time... try again in a few days or a week?

Angeline, what were you experiencing that lead you to the ER???
Dehydrated can result from the toxin overload.....day approx 5-7 --body is 80% toxins.
what have you been drinking/juicig???
do you do enemas?
Thought I'd answer this before I catch up on what everyone has been up to the last two days.
Misslinda, what brought me to the ER was an extremely severe migraine that had me unable to keep anything down (water, etc) for 3 days. That is what had me so dehydrated. The pain was off the charts. I've never had one that bad before. What I had been doing was just the raw lemonaid from the master cleanse and the seasalt water flush recipe. I was drinking 3-4 glasses of it a day. I was also drinking 3 12 oz glasses of distilled water. Now I'm only doing veggie juice and distilled water and things are better, just fighting a lovely flue that the kids caught from school.
For the record I don't want anyone to think that doing the master cleanse causes severe migraines. I have other things going on with my system that caused it.
Looks like everyone is still doing great! You have all been in my thoughts.
Michiganroman, How long is fastuary? I'm thinking my fastuary is going to go another 20 days. Sort of playing day to day.

Hey all! Good morning! I just wanted to report about "post fast" activities. I think I learned a valuable lesson about "cleansing" BEFORE you start the fast. OR tell me if this is "what happens"... I was in the bathroom off and on all afternoon, until 9:00 last night. Abdominal cramping....and then RUNNING to the restroom. Sorry, I don't want to be gross.... but I need to know, so I don't go through this again, or is it just to be expected.
NOW, I would like to do a serious fast in the spring. My pastor will probably call our church to a 40 day fast before Easter..... I would like to do 9 days of fruit and veggies only, 21 days juice and water, 10 fruit and veggies....
Would this work....how would you tweek it...maybe I should do a MC? How do ya'll feel about that "program"
I kinda jumped into January fast and had never done that many days before....so I'm improving...maybe with the "whole" church fasting too...oh by the way, our pastor asks us to fast 1 thing we are "addicted" to. He testifies he fasted sweet tea one year during the fast, and the detox he went through.....now he's a big man.....not healthy....so fasting tea was big for him. Anyway, I thought I might be more mentally prepared by the end of February...to make it a CLEAN SPRING!
I would value your opinions to help me reach my goal the next time.

Good morning, Fasters! How's everyone this morning?
I'm glad to report that I'm doing great, feeling good, no struggles. AND...I weighed again this morning and I've lost another *5 pounds*...I am trusting that that was 5 pounds of fat and toxins gone bye bye forEVER.
NFrawRUNNER: fasting is a discipline and with most disciplines you start where you can and build on that. Like when I wanted to start exercising again after 3 years of disease induced non-movement. I started with 5 minute walks and built from there...no way I could start with a marathon or even a 5k... The same is so with fasting. If you've never fasted before, start with a Daniel Fast (vegetables and water) and build from there. And, any degree on fasting will benefit you both physically and spiritually.
michigan roman: did you know that in the Old Testament when the Isrealites fasted, their animals fasted also? Yep. And, I beleive I'm remembering right in that God directed that action on at least one if not more occasions. So, clearly, fasting is good for our animals just as it is good for us.

I haven't yet joined the "fastivities," but I'm still enjoying this thread.
Did anyone check out the free downloads of classic fasting books? I mentioned it on another fasting thread and no one seemed to get excitied. Zero responses. That really surprised me as these are great books, free for the download.
Frecs, I got one for ya. Did you know that all the original animals were vegan? (We were too, of course).
Then God said, "Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the groundeverything that has life. And that is what happened.
Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Genesis 1:29-31
It gets better!
In the 7th millenium - the Kingdom Age - It is prophecied that animals will be vegan once again, when all things are set back right:
In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together;
the leopard will lie down with the baby goat.
The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion,
and a little child will lead them all.
The cow will graze near the bear.
The cub and the calf will lie down together.
The lion will eat hay like a cow.
The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra.
Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm.
Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,
for as the waters fill the sea,
so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord.

Di - don't be discouraged, do stay in on this thread, it'll encourage you and help you to prepare mentally.
Misslinda - you mentioned law of attraction and abundance exercises (that was you wasn't it  ), could you tell us what they are - if you don't mind? I've been doing some myself lately, using EFT and some affirmation and goal setting software I recently purchased.
Here's a link to some of the EFT exercises I'm using:

In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together;
the leopard will lie down with the baby goat.
Isaiah 11:6-9
Cool, aye?
It is cool...and I actually was aware of that...and there is also a mention in Revelations about the lion lying down with the lamb...

This is my firsy chance to check in today as I returned to work. I am overwhelmed with appreciation that you are all so thoughtful/helpful for me! Although I have decided this is not the right time for me to fast I WILL continue to read this thread so that WHEN the time is right and I am ready I can join in. I think I got so preoccuped with fasting that it caused some of my old binge issues and anger to resurface. I have enough going on in my life right now. I don't need to be obsessed with this too. I will keep track or ya'll though! Keep up the good work!

Michigan roman, You're reading me right. I was thinking of combo Jan and Feb being our Fastuary month. :-)
Today I went hiking up to Larch Mountain, and through the upper part of Oneonta Gorge. As I walking I was thinking about how this fast is like the hike. You've got the low periods where you think the climb up the steep mountain is never ending, but you can't give up. You just know that the good stuff is up ahead. While your hiking up the steep terrain there are times you forget the spetacular view that's ahead, forget why you decided to put yourself through the climb. Each step brings you closer and closer to the summit and you can't give up. I know there have been a few times during this fast, I forgot why I'm putting myself through it. Then days like today when you feel one with everything, and feel this peace inside that you can't describe.....it just makes it worth it, even if it's only for now.
Another cool thing, is that along the hike on the way down, it never fails that someone who is climbing up the steep part will ask you how much farther is it to the top, and is it worth it. You get to say you're almost there, and it's definately worth it!
I'm glad I have others hiking along this fast with me. The good stuff is up ahead!

Hey everybody Just pop in before I crash, to get some sleep.
hey Michigan roman -
just like what misslinda said here:
* snickers * Path own his own business.....I think some of his soldiers slack so he has to stretch himself out
One of my contractors was in an car accident so I've been running solely, for this one particular client. I just got home around 02:15am.
Though it would be totally cool to hop a plane and stop in at the mecca for raw foods in Socal, and eat at Aulac - great food!!! :D
So is today like day 16 for you? - congrats bro on making it this far.
Myself, I don't think I'll be able to make it to the juice and water stage as I had originally planned. I tried one day to stretch out my eating and I went to long and had painful consequences because of it.
Michigan roman, I took your advice and have been addedup to 75% more kale leaves into my pudding/liquid salads along with my cayenne powder I have not been near as cold as I used to be - the iodine from the kale has really kicked in.
Hey Tvillemom,
I'm still kicking
I'm glad your taking it easy on your recovery from liquids back to solids. In the past I got to impatient and wanted to get back to quickly and ended up vommiting  because my system had not yet fully adjusted yet. So due take your time
Michigan roman,
been doing alot of fasting reading and am reintroduced to the importance of fasting as life habit . i read that when ranchers fast domesticated stock it greatly increases their life spans . same in labratory rats . plus the curing of ailments galore .
it got me thinking that i want to start a FASTING TEAM , with scheduled team fasts . with team jerseys - that sounds cool
Angeline,
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY :D
I envy your hiking path through the woods and up the hills
I have not had the time to go and hang out in the woods lately I really miss it :(
Everybody else seems to being doing great :D
I'M off to bed, keep up the great work everybody - peace PATH301 :D

I have a question for ya'll. I noticed yesterday that my urine was very dark yellow and a bit bubbly or frothy. Is that a sign of detox? If this is a good sign that my body is doing deep cleaning, I'm thinking of extending the water only period of my fast...I had planned to go back to juices tomorrow but maybe not....
Yesterday morning I felt great...then about 3pm I crashed but couldn't go home to rest as I would like...finished work at 5:30pm and then it was off to church and didn't leave there until after 10pm (I manage the church bookstore).

ive been thinking about a team name
and this is what i came up with =
i wanted name to be descriptive so
people know that its a fasting group ,
and also for the name on jerseys to
be neat and balanced as in two words
(which itll take to get across to everyone
that its fasting and not hockey or something)
of the same length so you can put them
one over the other on jersey and get a neat /
balanced look . so i was thinking of a name thatd
be acceptable for all and i thought = fast or fasting , what words are same length , which lead to fast = path , also fasting = path301 . words
of same length that could stack on top of each
other on a jersey . and also because
PATH301 is such a neat person and so helpful to
all the members of this site , and whos great personality
has greatly helped to make this site a great and positive
place for people to work on their health . i mean the
dude (along with his mighty allie MISSLINDA) makes
everyone whom post here feel glad to be here plus he
supplies great info . so i figured because of that and also
because the word path also suggest a 'direction' or
'course of action' that were taking by becoming habitual
fasters . as in were on the proper path of evolution by being vegans and fasters , both habits which i see as proper for a supierior being /
properly existing soul that path is a good word .
so heres what i came up with =
PATH301
FASTERS
FAST
TEAM
PATH
PATH301
FASTING
TEAM
PATH
i like 'path301 fasting' best .

I have a question for ya'll. I noticed yesterday that my urine was very dark yellow and a bit bubbly or frothy. Is that a sign of detox?
Frecs, this is certainly a detox sign. The darker the urine, the more likely it is more toxins going out. (Unless you took some vitamins, as some of them can really darken the urine.)
I used to really be into Paul C. Bragg. I'm not anymore, one reason being that he wasn't fully raw... not even fully vegan. But, he did have a lot of relevant things to say and was a huge proponent to water fasting. IMHO, his greatest work was, "The Miracle Of Fasting." He suggested taking an empty vial and storing your urine in it, and put it up for 2-3 days undisturbed. You will be amazed at what settles at the bottom!
Oh, BTW, some health authorities only recommend shorter fasts of 7-10 days. But, fasting is a VERY individualized thing. And there is a HUGE body of information that supports prolonged fasting. One day, I plan to do a 40 day fast. Theoretically, one can go longer, and some have. Your body will let you know when it is time. It is entirely normal for the tongue to get coated, and should continue to until you're cleaned out.
As for hunger pangs, as you know, they normally disappear in 3-4 days. But, if you have something heavier, even fruit juice, then go back to water, you will likely feel some "hunger pangs" again for a day. All these "hunger pangs," so far, aren't hunger at all, but are the simple contractions of the stomach. It would likely be 40 days before your body feels real hunger. The signal would be definite, the tongue nice & clear, and the fridge calling.
It's like your body is a furnace, and the debris is like firewood that the body uses to stay busy, as nature endeavors to free herself. The toxins burn and burn like wood. Once that is done, the body needs to survive, and so starts "grabbing furniture & other valuables" (your vital tissues) to keep the fire burning. That's real hunger. You'll know when that is. Those kinds of hunger pangs will not dissapate with water.
Whether you reach this point or not, when the time comes to break the fast, you must be careful! I heard of someone needing medical help by breaking a fast too quickly. Not to scare anyone here, but go slow. It's like a long, gentle landing after a long flight. You don't just hop off. It takes time. Gradually break in your body to solids by drinking fruit juice, preferably diluted with water half & half. Give it a couple of days, at least, before going back to solid food, especially concentrates like nuts.
You all probably knew this already.
I don't mean to set myself up as the expert.
But there are a few experts like Bragg, Ehret & Sheldon that you could readily read up on, if need be. I usually take the concensus of what they all say, and go from there.
"In the abundance of counsel, there is safety."
Wishing you all well on your fasts.
Long May You Run!

* chuckles* WOW Frec, yeah, like MR said, pulling it all out eh? Obviously if your' not drinking anything that effects the color of yurin, you are filtering thru your kindeys/bladder. How do you feel other than that?
No, not taking any supplements or anything other than water...well, I take communion each morning but that's just a wafer and a bit of grape juice...and my thyroid med....but that's all.
I didn't feel great last night...very tired...but had obligations that kept me from going home and going to bed like I wanted to. Today, I'm better but still kinda tired. I'm terribly thirsty...can't seem to drink enough water to satisfy the thirst. I did an epsom salt water flush this morning but it had no effect at all if you know what I mean...usually I'm running to the bathroom 30 minutes after taking it. Guess there is nothing in the colon to get rid of....
Thanks FirstGarden for the info, some of it I knew but it never hurts to hear it again!

thank u for the welcome, misslinda!!! :o
woo... fasting gives me the opportunity to rest and do some reading. I've been wanting to read about social psychology lately & just got the jerry & esther hicks' book about the law of attraction. So I am good! My friends will just have to do w/o me staying out w/ them so late for now.
I have to be used to sleeping earlier though, b/c my body says so!!! We have our little arguments sometimes -- my body & I. If not necessary, I don't overwork for now. From past experiences, the fasting is easier when I just take care of my responsibilities and the rest of the time make sure to rest. Although while I am resting and feeling like I should be doing something, I have to remember my body is working full speed to clean out toxicities(word?) in my body. :D
I'm only doing a water fast -- distilled water like the other times. I want to body brush 2x a day but have been doing only 1. I've been lazy, LoL. But it really doesn't take that long to do some body brushing. So I will just do it!!!
Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!!!! Happy fasting!

Hey M.R. - love your posts.
My avatar does represent the very first garden on earth when men & women were entirely raw. As for the religious aspect, I would never venture far on that topic here, out of deep respect for this website. There are other places for religious or spiritual discourse, but this site is dedicated to raw food and, I guess, the utmost, naturally pure things like fasting - things which I love.
You're way ahead of me, M.R. I never planted an organic garden, though I did help a friend plant one in the early 70s. Oh, I take that back... I did have an organic tomato garden back in 1971. It was a study in the art of how to keep those creepy tomato worms off the plants. I was studying Hinduism (I was an aspiring monk at the time with the Self Realization Fellowship under Paramahansa Yogananda). Long story short, I was a devout vegetarian and did not want to hurt any creature alive. So I remember gathering all those tomato worms into a bucket, getting on my bike and delivering them to a nearby vacant lot.
But, one day I want to get into organic gardening again. And I know that there are natural deterrents (herbs, etc) to ward off the pests. You never know what the future may hold in this terrorist age, and a good, organic garden may come in handy. However.... if (or when) tough times hit, be prepared to share. Maybe dehydration has some hidden benefits as well.
Those who are fasting, I'm sorry for being insensitive in mentioning food on this fasting thread. I know that you are real troopers, but even so, I could be more sensitive.
