This is the third time I've tried to post. I hope it works this time.

My real name is Sharon. I'm from Arkansas. Dorcas is a favorite Bible character of mine.

I learned about raw vegan eating when doing a research of hydrocolonics well over a year ago. I came across the name, Dr. Norman Walker, a raw foodist. I began to learn more of this way of eating. I always knew that raw vegetables were superior in health since I was a child, hearing my parents talk with other adults about it, but I never dreamed it would be possible to eat raw 100%! So, in my searchings, I learned about Alissa and her challenge. The story of Rachel Grier inspired me to really go for eating raw 100%. Before this, I wouldn't have even guessed I could do it. I ordered Alissa's book and DVDs with Christmas money. It is my gift to myself and to all others that I will inspire with this wonderful natural diet. Thank you, Alissa, for your firm but gentle nudges. I'm giving myself time to get my kitchen ready, my mind ready, learn my way around this raw food talk area of the web site, and time to buy the food I'll need. I'm hoping to start Jan. 18, 2007. Maybe by then, I'll have a picture.

Hi Dorcas!

I'll start with you! I'm pretty good right now except for the blasted coffee. I am not a caffeine head but I do actually enjoy the taste of an espresso shot a couple of times a week. If I can find something that would satisfy me in the taste dept. it wouldn't be so hard. I also would like to eat less nuts (I rely on their ease too often) so those would be my challenges. I would also like to shed the 30 pounds my Dr. has asked me to try and lose.

I'm ready when you are. The 18th it is! Are we going for 30 days? What is your goal? We'll make it fun...

All the best! :D

Asparaw -
I do indeed plan to go 30 days. I feel like AAAAH!, though. I'm looking forward to it, but I feel like I'm standing at the edge of the unheated swimming pool, afraid to feel the cold water, but wanting to get in there and splash around. Going in all at once was always the best way to handle that situation, and I think going 100% is going to be the best here, too. As for a goal, I'm not sure. Just sticking to the 30 days is my goal for now and letting the diet do it's work. I'll add exercise, I'm sure. I guess that'd be another goal - to ride my stationary bike daily, at least some. Thanks for taking the dive with me!

Yep, the best gift I got for Christmas was this. I did get her book, and you're right - I couldn't put it down. I've already read it, and watched the DVDs. I've read about raw eating for over a year now, have attempted it alone a few times. Once, for a full day (imagine that!). That one day, though, began to change me. I could tell even after one day! I think I'm going to like your family! :)

I'll try to post some more before I start Jan 18. I'm enjoying reading, too.

Oh good, I feel AAAAH! too! ;) Your analogy about the pool is so accurate. We'll dive right in and do the best we can. I need to move more as well...I think the bike will be great for you and won't make weather a problem. I will try and get to a nearby park to walk...I love doing it once I start but it's the starting that's hard...hey wait a minute...it's that pool thing again. haha!

You will love the book and DVD. I really gravitated to the DVD with Alissa because I SAW how easy raw prep was. I get the concepts but I had fear in the execution. SHe made it so unscary. I can't wait to hear what you think! :)

Have a great week!
