Hi, Everyone! I started my Raw journey about a week ago, obviously a long way to go, but so far so good. I'm happy to have found this group where there is so much to learn, good advice, wonderful-sounding recipes, etc. So far I've been eating raw all day (mostly fruits and veggies), then a cooked dinner consisting of brown rice and steamed veggies (had a small piece of roast chicken a couple of times ... my bad).
I'm very interested in the weight loss aspects of Raw, but more importantly, I want to be more healthy (already diagnosed with hypertension and borderline diabetes) and feel well. I'm absolutely terrified of being old and sick, with a long list of illnesses, being kept alive with literally dozens of pills every day, being fed through a tube, and all that. Being a medical transcriptionist, I spend every day listening to reports of people that are exactly as I just described, and I've become more and more afraid of ending up like that myself.
So here I am, determined to do something positive to possibly help prevent such from happening to me, at least postponing it as long as possible. Thank you all in advance for the help and encouragement I know is available here.
:p

not at all adiamond! sometimes it just depends on what time the post is made - if not many people are on at that time and it doesnt pop up in the "new posts" area, it can sometimes be missed. congrats on your committment! this is a great community here, im sure youll fall in love with it as so many of us have. :)

Hey,
Welcome to the family. I just starting eating Raw on the 1 Jan 07. Same here good so far. I recieved my book from www.AlissaCohen.com and I have tried two of the recipes which I really like and I have a nine year old that like them too. So hang in there. I think this is so worth it.

Welcome! Be encouraged....I am sure you will find many many benefits. I haven't always managed to stay 100% raw, but I've still already started reaping wonderful benefits healthwise.
