I cannot get chic peas from my health store; do you think the ones at the local food mart will work? (goya and such)

From what I understand from the members on this board is that the ones traditionally available canned and such are cooked...which is a bummer because I could LIVE on them. :(

Try the Asian Markets where the Indian people shop. They sell dry chickpeas.

Ahhhhh my biggest weakness! I have yet to try sprouting them from the bags in standard supermarket. . . but I love them so much that I suppose I must do this.
A couple of months ago I went to my corner cheapie store which is a huge supermarket with alot of ethnic food - mostly hispanic - and saw these green chick peas in a papery shell. I inquired about them on here but no-one responded. They are no longer in season but I googled them the other day and learned that those green chick peas are raw and they are the new avant-garde food du jour in your upscale trendy restaurants. The article said they are creamy herby grassy tasting. . . . . even better than cooked dried or canned! I can't wait to try them!
