I want to buy yoga DVDs on Amazon but I'm sure which ones are the best. I think ashtanga yoga sounds good. I want a yoga that will give me a workout.

I really like ashtanga. When taught by the right person it can really make one strong and flexible. It's a heck of a workout for sure! Make sure you get a beginner tape...this is really athletic as you move on to the intermediate. Have you practiced yoga? Ashtanga is pretty hardcore. David Swenson is great.
I also like Anusara for when I am feeling mellower. Just discovered it recently. Still a great workout but also embraces life and love. There is meditation and a chant as well. It is joyful and teaches great form in a very easy way which in turn avoids injury and helps one gain the benefits of all forms of Hatha Yoga.
Anusara DVD is here:

Have you tried Pilates? I love it!

Thanks for the info apasaraw. I have done yoga before. I once took a class at an arboretum. I can't remember what type of yoga it was but it was very challenging,(I was one of the youngest ones, and one of the only ones who could do the poses). I'll definately start with the beginners. The mellower yoga sounds great too. I would like a balance of fitness yoga and chillin' out yoga.
I tried pilates and it was ok. I almost feel like I'd enjoy it more if I had an instructor with me since I'm very anal about having the perfect form.

Yep, I was going to Say Baptiste, Kest, or Rolf Gates.
Though Brian Kest's Long, Slow, and Deep workout isn't poweryoga, I HIGHLY reccommend it. It's an hour and 50 minutes of grunt-worthy, meditation inducing, patience-requiring yoga. There's one point where you hold a forward bend for 10 full minutes. It's not really cardio, but hoo boy is it a workout!

I really like Eoin Flinn for power yoga- he has this great attitude. His DVD Power Yoga for Happiness is a killer and a lot of fun. You can also download free audio workouts from his website vancouver yoga. I also like Total Yoga Fire and Yoga Shakti when I want to do a tough yoga workout.
