Hi everyone

I just ordered my dehydrator from Alissa and it's gotten me in the mood for a new cookbook. I use Alissa's recipes quite often, but it might be nice to get a new one to go with it (I can only get one... I'm on a super tight budget.)

The 2 things IÂ’m looking for are:

Foods that travel well
Foods that will knock the socks off my SAD family and friends

Here are my favorite cuisines:

(Obviously, IÂ’m not expecting any cookbook to have all of these, but it gives you an idea of what I likeÂ…)

Australian/British (i.e. meat pies, scones, trifle etc.)
Malaysian/Indonesian (i.e. curry puff, rendang, mee goreng etc.)
Indian (i.e. curry)
Thai
French
Scandanavian desserts (i.e. cardamom bread)

The 2 cookbooks that I am serious considering at the moment are Raw Food/Real World and Living Cuisine. I have heard nothing but good things about RF/RW but it doesn't have as many recipes. Renee's desserts get raves, but I've never heard anything about her savory dishes. Can someone tell me how the savory ones hold up?

Which one should I get, or should I get something entirely different?

Thanks for all your help :)

These books are completely different in my opinion. RFRW has unbelievable recipes & photos...but a lot of the ingrediants are hard for me to get here in the north-esp young coconuts. With that said...I have used this book many times & I love it!

Renee's book is great as well...Not many photos-but her salad dressings are FAB ! I have only made a few of the deserts-mostly cookies.

I am looking at your food choices & I think you may find Renee's book to have more recipes for your tastes. I would go with that book based on your preferences.

Also...Spend your time on the net-esp this site-there are a TON of recipes out there. Just use the banana to search. That is my opinion since you are on a budget. Otherwise...get em both...Sorry-but they are both good..in fact I use every RAw book I have & I have A LOT of them...I have to say I use Alissa's the most.

Something to consider-e-books are everywhere & there is NO charge for shipping.

I hope this helps..

this book has some stuff in it that makes you feel guilty for eating it...its that good. the deserts are amazing, it tends to be better for the sweet stuff.

I have them both, and though I love the recipes in RFRW I've more-often made recipes from Living Cuisine. I agree that the salad dressing recipes are killer, and the raw carrot cake is so awesome!

Depending on your budget you could get both, RFRW is only $16.99 at bookcloseouts.com.

Here's a link right to the book! (http://www.bookcloseouts.com/bc/display.book.asp?isbn=0060793554&rid=paprika)

I bought the Living Cuisine book from the same site, but they don't have it right now. That's the thing with the site, you have to check back often.
