Last night I came to the old apartment to pick up the new modem shipped via UPS and my computer so I could move it to the new place.
The modem had not arrived.
I thought it would be stupid to drive all the way across town then come back in the morning, so I decided to hang out here.
About 9 pm I got hungry and realized I didn't have any food here.
I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and a rootbeer.
AND I ATE THE WHOLE THING!
It was like a frenzy!
I'm so sick this morning and I weigh about 4 pounds over my normal weight. FOUR POUNDS OF BLOAT!
I'm so sorry I did that.
I could slap myself.
ACK ACK ACK

so sorry but at least you got sick and gained 4pounds. If you dont want to get sick again and gain 4 pounds maybe just the thought alone for help prevent your next weak hour. :o
It wont kill you and you will recover from this but its the guilt of it. Try not to let it hender your day. Just get back to your healthy eating lifestyle.
I know when I eat mango I am allergic to it. Just my outer skin around my mouth has a severe reaction and breaks out. If this happened with all foods we should not eat, I venture we would not eat them :o

Back on track you go. Don't think about it anymore - get back to raw.

Oh don't slap yourself!! I did just the same thing the other day, but not with a pizza...with peanut butter sandwiches, which were an old favorite for me. I was really stressed out about something...those things happen. It was a few days ago, and I feel a lot better now. Had I lost it and allowed myself to do something stupid I probably wouldn't be feeling better by now.

Hi RowanC.
Sorry to hear about your mishap.
I want to share a bit of my life with you... a few months ago I first tried going RAW; by using this site and Alissa Cohen's book & DVD. At first it was a hit or miss with the recipes. I desperately wanted the recipes to look and taste like SAD. And then I found a wonderful recipe that you posted, Chai Cookies. I lived off those cookies for days!!!! They were my main meal (with dipping sauces) and my dessert... You kept me alive for a few days, I guess you could say :-0 Anyways, like me, I'm sure there are others you have inspired along the way. So I wish you well with getting back on track.

Hi RowanC- I think the key to the Raw Journey is not how you deal with successes but how you deal with the *slips*...ie-how fast you get back on the Raw Horse & ride again.
I know I've had my *slips*-esp over the Holidays...but I start again & move forward.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. Just move forward & don't beat yourself up. :)
Lana
BTW- that 4 pounds will be gone tomorrow.

Thanks everyone... I'm back on the horse.
This isn't always easy, is it?
But I KNOW it is the best thing I can do for my body and health.
What's weird/strange/ironic is that just yesterday I was going over some of my old BOTA lessons and I read the one on The Hermit. For those of you who are not interested in Tarot, you can skip this...
The Hermit is Key 9 and the letter is Yod, the open hand of man. The card is ruled by Virgo. Virgo has to do physically with the small intestines and the formation of chyle. According to ancient knowledge this is the area where the body literally spins itself from the food that you eat. So the lesson was all about eating the RIGHT foods, LIVING foods so your body could build it's best temple and tool.
I read that.
I heard it.
I know it.
And I turned around and ate pizza!
THAT is what floors me. The stupidy of myself! ACK ACK ACK
Why do we do things that we KNOW are not right?
::shakes her head in wonder::::then sighs:::
Ok.. I'm over it.
No more beating me up.
I'm back on track now.
Thanks for the support, gang! :D

RowanC.. I'm curious, is this your first time going 100% raw?
I'm asking because it's my first time and I'm trying to do 100% and have had two slip ups already (today is my fourth day)... and I'm telling myself it's because I'm sick with a HORRIBLE cold and feel so out of my mind that I'm not really thinking too straight.. but I know it's going to be just as hard when I'm not sick.
anyway.. good luck and get back on the raw wagon! :)

Yes, and well, I'm not 100% raw.
I still have my cup of coffee in the morning.
But except for that I'm trying hard to stay as close to 100% raw as possible and I'm certainly not wanting to eat crap like PIZZA and ROOTBEER! ::laughing and moaning::::
I think it has to do with stress, depression, and just being caught without food, really. It was ignorant of me to get into this position, but I am in the middle of a move. So I have decided not to be so hard on myself until I'm settled into my place. I have to spend some time dehydrating next week and being more prepared. That's the bottom line for me.
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.
When I am sick, fruit is my friend.
I hope you're better soon.
Hang in there!
::hugs:::

I was wondering about this Rowan, and thought that maybe I could ask you a few questions:
What was it that made you specifically order the pizza?
Was there something that triggered it in your head?
Did you think about an alternate way to get food to you (maybe order a big salad from the pizza place instead, or in the worse case scenario, get some vegan ethnic food like chinese, Thai or Indian that could have delivered)?
What can you do in the future to heed off something like that happening again?
Could you keep some raw bars or something in your purse?
Or could you take a bunch of bananas in your car next time you leave your house?
You don't have to answer here, but just some things to think about, because these situations do come to all of us, so it's a good idea to ponder on.
I usually take a bunch of bananas with me when my family will be going out and/or driving around because they often end up at a bad food place, so instead of ordering their sub-par salad or worse, some fried vegetable, I'll at least have something with me to eat.

I was starving and I was also depressed being back in this apartment. I think it was comfort food.
Was there something that triggered it in your head?
Not really.. I was just so hungry.
Did you think about an alternate way to get food to you (maybe order a big salad from the pizza place instead, or in the worse case scenario, get some vegan ethnic food like chinese, Thai or Indian that could have delivered)? Yes, I did because there is a grocery store very close by. But it is freezing and I didn't want to go outside in the cold and I just flaked out.
What can you do in the future to heed off something like that happening again?
Keep food with me all the time. I know this. I have just been moving and am very unorganized right now.
Could you keep some raw bars or something in your purse?
Yes, I could. I just haven't spent the time dehydrating.
I'd love to purchase some bars or cookies from someone here making them.
Any takers? I could send cash paypal. We talked about a trade. Did it happen?
Or could you take a bunch of bananas in your car next time you leave your house? Yes, I should and could. I just didn't.

aww. thanks! that makes me feel a little better.. and you're right.. i'm noticing it's all about being prepared... having little snacks and things handy for when you get a craving for something other than just fruit or veggies.
good luck to both of us next week! :D

Just get right back on!!! :-) It sounds like you've learned from the experience. Always keep more food around than you think you will need, be sure to stay satisfied, develop non-food related stress outlets, etc...
You can do it!!!
All the best,
Audrey

I'm so sorry to hear about your trouble. We have all been there..... :)
One thing that I have learned to always have either with me or at home is Alissa's enzymes. Take a handful of them when something like this happens. It really does help to take away some of the discomfort.

I went off the deep end with Jack in the Box and then a chocolate bar and soda...currently feel like poopoo physically because of eating this junk food. I am eager to start anew tomorrow. In fact, I am currently dying to eat an apricot, but dont have any on hand. :)
