Could anyone post a list of raw food resources in Northern California, preferably around Silicon Valley, please. I'm in Santa Clara near Sunnyvale. I do not have a car but I can rent one on the week-ends if I need to.

I searched the different posts on this forum and once I go to San Francisco I'll be going to Cafe Gratitude as my first stop. But are there any places to get seeds, like wheat berries, and other things to sprout? What about any bulk food places where I might buy raisins, dates, cocoa powder, and other bulk nuts and seeds?

As for fruits and veggies there is apparently a farmers market on saturday on the corner of lincoln and warburton, which is really close to my place. Any other recommendations for farmers markets, grocery stores or anywhere else to get good raw foods would be greatly appreciated! Also I work 9-5 so times would be great.

Thank you so much in advance. I just moved here from Canada and I'm really scratching my head! Oh and I have a VTA bus pass. :)

Hi Pixie,

Welcome to the Bay Area! :) I'm very close to you, maybe 10 miles south of you.

For organic nuts, seeds, dried fruits, etc.., you can get it on-line from http://www.organicfruitsandnuts.com/default.asp

For Farmer's Market, one of the best ones is on Sunday, in Mountain View. It's about 10 minutes from you. http://www.cafarmersmkts.com/mtnview.html

Please let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Hi there. I live in San francisco. I practically live at Cafe Gratitude. So yummy! There is also a restaurant on Lombard called Alive that is raw. And there was one in Union Sq called Parawdise. It is closed right now, but the owner told me he hopes to reopen soon. As for my shopping, I find everything I need and want at Rainbow Grocery on Folsom and 13th. It is a coop and they don't sell any meat. They have everything you could need for raw recipes, TONS of food in bulk bins. Plus an amazing assortment of organic fruits and veggies and aisle after aisle of natural hair and body care products. I think you should be able to find almost anything you need there. Good luck!

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much for your replies! I will probably be making a trip to San Francisco this sunday and I'll be checking out Cafe Gratitude and the rainbow place you mentioned, VeganPrincess. Thank you!

I am looking forward to the farmers markets too. Linda if you want to meet up at some point, I'd love to meet more raw foodies face to face! :) I joined the south bay raw food potluck group here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SouthBayRawFood/
But I'm not sure whether there will be any events soon or whether I will know how to get there. ;)

Again, thanks and please if anyone else has any recommendations just chime in!

Hi,

I just did a search on Northern California and I found this post! I'm in Santa Rosa (about 60 miles north of SF). It would be wonderful if we could all meet at Cafe Gratitude in SF and meet each other. This month Cafe Gratitude is opening another restaurant in San Rafael.
