For Alissa's Alfredo...I only have the pine nuts...but I also have pecans, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Do you think I could subsitute any of those for the mac nuts and I think it was cashews?

I have been having a lot of trouble regarding food with my mom lately. All she buys now for the family is processed crap and junk food! What happened to my health-concious mom. She doesn't even bat an eye when my brother eats 3 cinnamon buns and a rice krispy treat or popcorn, chips and soda for breakfast! She eats junk all day. I just get so upset because I just want her to be healthy again, it makes me feel like she doesn't care about her self and body any more. She doesn't look healthy at all any more and is aging more quickly...her temperment is much much worse and she and my step dad NEVER get along. It just seems like there is no love in the house. Any way I want to try to make them some raw meals. I just wont tell them its "raw". If they like it I will ask them to eat up all the stuff in the house and let me be the chef for a week. I doubt they would but you never know! I can only hope. SOrry this is so long!

I have one more question. Are there any sure fire recipes I can make with the onlyyyy following ingredients?

-brown flax seeds
-pecans
-sunflower seeds
-pumpkin seeds
-a couple zucchini
-mustard greens
-wheat berries
-lentils
-carrots
-olive oil that isn't raw but its extra virgin...so if I HAVE to use it then at least it is much healthier than the way they eat now
-bee pollen
-cranberries
-wheat germ
-a little bit of fresh mature coconut meat
-dark agave
- a tiny bit of sesame seeds and poppy seeds
-some apples

thank you!

You could probably make a small apple cobbler out of your apple diced, pecans chopped, dark agave and cinnamom if you have it. Mix together and let sit in the fridge for a while to soften the apple. Or maybe soak the pumpkin and sunflower seeds then process with carrots, then add a little olive oil, chopped cranberries, chopped apple, a little agave and maybe a few chopped pecans for a chunky mock chicken salad kinda thing, oh and some seasoning if you have it. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks Jen! I was so excited to have gotten a response to this lol :)
Have you tried the mock chicken salad thing? That sounds like it might be good on top of flax crackers or in a wrap or something. What kind of seasoning would you use?

waving hi :)

i substitue cashew/macs .. with pine nuts as they are a similar texture.
As regards recipes, mmh, could you make a pate with the lentils, carrots, nuts etc... and use it to stuff the zuccini?

i am not very good at experimenting, i hope you find some better ideas.

best wishes

I could see a burger made out of:

-brown flax seeds, sunflower seeds, zucchini, carrots, rolled in sesame seeds or poppy seeds

Add some water to mix all above if need be.

If you can't dehydrate them why not the simple way--prepare/eat.

Feel free to vent. Everyone has issues and if we can be a blessing why not.
I can say the difference between myself and others eating the SAD lifestyle is they are aging tons quicker than me and they are not as vibrant either. A testimony to raw and/or mainly raw vegan, but a choice in all things. People still think this lifestyle is crazy.

OT: My church is having a "free" health seminar coming up, but the goal of the "teachers" are to promote more memberships to the gym where they are members. I have a health ministry, this huge church knows about it, but I don't buy into the pastor's book on healthy eating which includes meat. Oh, well and glad to pass to compromise the "real truth."

Enjoy.

You could probably use dill or maybe italian flavors like oregano and basil.
