Hi all,
I was reading today somewhere (I can't remember where)-that you will always struggle with food and weight if you are not healthy in mind.
I was considering this (I am a psychiatric nurse) and thought to myself-there are not many people I know of who are totally healthy in mind (myself included)-so what do you all think about this? Would RAW be impossible to maintain -or any healthy eating plan for that matter-if we are not healthy in mind?
Just want opinions on this.
thanks,
Mary

Opinion:
-I think it is NOT an all-or-nothing equation. Most folks have various levels of 'healthy mind' and therefore various levels of health. The esoteric folks talk about 4 bodies of health: Physical, Emotional, Thought & Spirit (or action). One can be lacking in any of these areas of development - or come to rely on one too heavily....in an addictive manner.
-I think a firm desire for health and integration can result in improvement in any one of those areas. Some folks work from the ground up....others from the top down. A few people like to hit all areas a little! :)
-I think that if one is trying to do good things in their life, good and conscious dietary changes are a great tool!
-What do you think?

I believe that if you don't have your emotions [healthy in mind] under control, food and weight will always be a problem. It's not what your eating, it's what's eating you. Forever young

I agree.. You need to prepare your self mentally as well as physically. This is my toughest challenge when it comes to being raw. I can say proudly I'm high raw.. maybe above 90% but I am not 100% because my mind just isn't going along with my body LOL.. or should I say, my fingers and mouth lol... They do as I say.. I really should tell them no more cooked food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've yet to see a mind/brain without a body. They are always interconnected. Without good food one cannot be healthy. Begin where you can as you work/play on the rest.

These responses are just what I am looking for. I guess I think it is harder for some to do certain things (i.e. changes in their patterns) if they are emotionally and/or mentally 'stuck'.
I believe we ALL have emotional issues or baggage-why some are able to overcome these or deal with them better is the whole interesting part of life -of who we are.
I believe it is easier for some to do certain things (i.e. speaking Raw Foods here) to have a discipline or stick-tuitiveness (sp?) in areas of their lives.
Interesting thoughts.
thanks,
Mary

I believe that is available to all of us. The Laurel Mellin book The Pathway and the kit work of the program have changed my life, and are continuing to produce changes:
