I'm just starting out raw because of health problems, in the canadian prairies. I just searched the forums for smoothie recipes to try in my shiny new vita-mix... I love this blender.
The real reason I want to post here is for support. Not really support, but I need some connection to a place that gets it. I'm surrounded by people that eat the most horrid garbage, which is what I was raised on and am currently trying to stop eating. I literally don't know a single person that eats remotely healthy, it's all hamburgers, tin can soup, and barbeque. I do have supporters though, they offer encouragement at the dinner table, even if they first offer me one of the standard staple foods - meat, milk, wheat, and sugar.
Anyway, that's my intro. Now to bed, I want it to be tomorrow morning so I can gorge myself on smoothies.

Welcome Truth Frog,
I'm also new here as well, and live in Calgary, where are you exactly?
Calgary has a small raw-foodie following, mostly operating out of the CO-OP Midtown Market where they host pot-lucks and do some teaching.
But I've lived or spent time in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and some of the smaller towns and know they are less progressive than Calgary (if you can call it that).
Best of luck, you are not alone.

Thanks for the welcome all.
I'm in 'stoon, I lived in Calgary a couple years ago, nice city. I have my eye on BC though. Theres a co-op and a decent organic market here, but I don't know anything local that's specifically "raw" (do they exist?). Farmer's market has fresh veggies in the summer, but not good quality (meaning no one seems to care about organic and the selection is carrots, cabbage, and not much else).

I have a little more time today to talk to you. You know sometimes we have to Look to our HIGHERPOWER for all the encourgement we need. You have to travel this road as if you were by yourself because you can't fall of your Journey because there is no physical support around you. You MUST DIG DEEP inside yourself.
Take a WALK at the dinner hour so you won't have to see what everyone else is eating.Write everything WRONG you can about a hamburger and put it on a door and THROW DARTS AT IT.
Talk Sweet Love talks to your Body. Tell your Body how much you Love it and you are going to take better care of it by giving it all these Living Foods. Tell yourself how STRONG you are and when a temptation comes, ASK IT IS THAT THE BEST IT CAN OFFER?
YOU WILL BECOME STRONGER AND YOU WILL WIN. Don't forget to MOVE all you can. I had to wait 30 minutes in the Bank line last week. I was getting a bit upset, then I remembered MOVE. I started moving from side to side, back and forth. I almost put on a show, who knows what would have happened if the right Music was on. I DID NOT CARE WHO WAS WATCHING, WHAT THEY THOUGHT........THIS IS MY WORLD..........
