does anyone keep a food journal, and does it help? if so, do you write what you are going to eat the next day, or write down what you eat as you eat? thankx :)

I have in the past (when not raw) and it did seem to help with what I was doing then. I've been thinking about starting one again. In fact, I think I will for the new year! What I do is write down a vague idea of what i'm going to eat the next day (breakfast: fruit, lunch: smoothie, etc) and after i've eaten that meal, I write down the specifics! That way I have a bit of a guideline as to what to eat, but I can still choose what I want to.

I just write it as I eat it. Just to see what I eat. But since with raw it doesn't matter, I just do it for curiosity to see how much I chow down on in a day.

If I am not feeling well and I think it is the food I will make logs to try to see a pattern. This was with SAD and IBS and chronic food poison symptoms. With raw I do the same and especially now that I have slipped badly and am suffering the consequences. I did not start feeling like doing anything all day until tonight (but did anyway - just not as much as intended) and I have been making alot of "Orange Julius'" in the juicer. (Not really) - just alot of frothy fresh orange juice . . . so I am wondering if that is what is helping me. . . and I did write it in my log book that I started when I got really ill a couple of months ago.

Have been doing fresh lemon and lime juice but it seems that the OJ is what is helping. 'Tis the season - as the fruit is on the trees and ripe now. I also find it interesting how my body knows what is in season and craves it.

I was getting all confused with the raw food meals and making it waaaay more complicated than it had to be... when I read on another thread.. someone saying they just divide the meals up like this:

BREAKFAST: fruit
lunch: smoothie
dinner: salad or soup

and voila! it seemed so easy all of a sudden.. so that's what I'm doing.
except I'm making a more substantial meal or "entree" for my lunches at work.. when I feel I need the most energy to get me through the day.
