I keep hearing people saying "high raw" and I have no idea what it means... sorry for the dumb question! :o

a diet that is predominantly raw..usually 90% raw or higher :)
definition varies slightly from person to person though

mostly raw but cheating on a few things .

I'd kinda like to know how that term evolved. That and "detox" sounds like borrowed from drug user terminology.

I would tell someone I'm high raw because I didn't want to mess with percentages. That I was raw but would use spices, tea, nut butters, nutritional yeast, cacao, etc. that may not be particularly raw.

It's a flexible term that usually means someone eats raw pretty much all the time, with occasional cooked and processed foods. So yeah, like 90%-95% raw kinda thing. Just my impression / opinion.

Why cheating? That sounds so negative to me...
I prefer transitioning - am I cheating now? Or have I found my own way?

I would say high raw is about 75% raw to all raw...

Curious: was anyone ever high raw for an extended period of time, and then go strictly raw? Was that a radical difference?
I know some people who go through different phases of high raw depending upon where they are in life.
High raw phases:
Phase 1: 66% raw
Phase 2: 75% raw
Phase 3: 90%-99% raw
These phases seem to help some people transition to 95% or 100%, as they learn the lifestyle and how to prepare food. Some people get the health benefits they are looking for at only 66%.
I myself go from 66% to 100% and everywhere in between depending upon my life situations. (Most of the other stuff that I eat that isn't raw is steamed veggies, vegan soups, etc. I do not eat meat, nor drink animal milk. I have been 100% raw for 30 days, and know that I can do it.) The great thing for me regarding "high raw" is the fact that I have had asthma since an infant, and I find that as long as I am at least 66% raw, that I do not have any asthma symptoms. (Right now, I am averaging about 85% raw.)
Do what works for you and remember that it is your path. :)
