 I am new to the RAW lifestyle. I have a dehydrator, and several other culinary items to help me on my journey. I live in Southern California and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to go and pick my breakfast each morning - tangerine, avocado, macadamia, lime, lemon, plum, fig trees etc. (I need to grow a banana tree cause I still have to buy those.) :D I have the opportunity to attend one of the Level 1 Chef Certification Classes endorsed through Alissa's website. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has attended? I don't have Alissa's book - yet - so I am wondering if I should get that first and wait to go to the class as I am certain that the opportunity will arise again. Money is a bit tight at the moment, and I have experimented with the dehydrator, but I just can't seem to get the food right. Thanks in advance.

Ohhhhhh! I am jealous that you get to pick your breakfast! Get the book and the DVD and do the class later. After you have experimented and have more difficult questions you can get more out of the class. I think that if you look at old threads here you will find many of your questions answered. The DVD helps you understand how easy it can be to make the food. I still make very little but I am going to have to learn if I wish to convert my family. Everybody raves about the book and say it is the only raw recipe book they use. Welcome to this wonderful site!

Thank you for your response. Yes, I am a lucky girl. Unfortunately, for the longest time I haven't liked to eat fruit - wasn't raised on it. Typical meat and potatoes. Anyway, I am going to buy to the book, and you say the DVD is really good too? I have a ton of RAW cookbooks, but not Alissa's. Alas, it is time to buy that one. Thanks again. ;)

Hi 3bigdogs,
You are on the right track with getting Alissa's book and DVD. You happen to be in such a great area for support in the raw food lifestyle. You have some great teachers too. Diana Harrelson (http://www.rawteacher.com/dianaharrelson) is a wonderful person to get in contact with. She can tell you where all the great restaurants are and help support you on your journey. The Level 1 class will show you how to go raw and stay raw. I lived on these meals for my first 3 months raw. Good luck on your journey. :D

Thanks. I have emailed Diana awhile ago about attending a class, and I am happy to have the endorsement. I was thinking about taking a class with Linda Whitlock, but I think that I will start with the DVD and book, then I will go for the class. I appreciate all the support.
