I have recentley started to go raw. I eat a great deal of fruit and greens right now with occassional almonds or cashews for a treat mixed with raisins. I also NEVER stop eating at a certain time. I'm loving the experience too much!!!

hi rawbellydancer (love the name!) :)

well I feel best if I stop eating 3 hours before bed, that way my body doesn't feel heavy or burdened in the morning and I have good morning 'elimination'. I never used to think about it and eat at all times but since going raw (and my body getting more sensitive to everything in the process!) I definitely feel better whn I don't eat late.

As for food combining i'm the same there - I feel better when I do it. It can (well for me anyway) seem pretty baffling with all the charts and info online but here's what works for me:

no nuts or dried fruit (don't worry this is just me ;)) - if they are eaten soak first and eat alone (definitely not the 2 mixed) in small quantities

Don't mix fruit and nuts

Don't mix fruit and fat

Don't mix different fats (ie - avo and oil or oavo and nuts or oil and nuts)

Eat melon alone

Greens and celery and cucumber are ok with anything

- there's more, like not mixing types of fruit but I seem no to have to worry so much about that :) thankfully!!

Now that list is just THEORY, I know it rules out a lot of yummy recipes and I would definitely say wholeheartly GO WITH YOUR BODY. In my experience being strict on these 'rules' when the body isn't asking for them can lead to boredom and dislike for raw - it took me a while (a year and a half) to get to this point and this is again just me - we are all different. I ate allsorts and all combinations for a while and it really helped me to love raw and get where I am and to heal etc etc.
I guess I just wouldn't want you to be unhappy on raw becuase of 'rules' - follow your body and it will lead you well :D - like puddingandspice!! (another GREAT name :))

I know that food combining is important, but every time i really try to follow these rules i end up going of raw. Its just too strict for me it seems.
What if i just don’t follow these rules and eat JUST raw??

Sararaw,

I've been told by Alissa and my raw buddy Nora (who DOES follow the rules as she's NH) that when first starting out, it's important to just eat raw and not worry about all the rules such as food combining, etc.; and that eventually as you eat more and more raw, your BODY will signal that it's time to let certain things go, or stop combining certain things or to eat more simplier.

Really, ok, that’s good to know, i was wondering what the right thing was.
Thanks for the info on what they both say. Im reading Alissa's book right now and i just love what she says and how she says it, it just makes perfect sense.

Victoria Boutenko was asked this question and she said if you listen to your body it will eventually naturally food combine. She said don't worry about it in the beginning.

There's one person's opinion.
