I've made the ever-so-popular banana ice creams and coconut ice creams . . . has anyone ever experimented with cashew milk ice cream? It sounds to me that it would work, but I haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions for a receipe??

Hi
Cashew milk works. Google "The Naughty Vegan" and look at site of same name, he has vegan, raw, icecreams made from cashews, and also recipes for coconut milk. Also check Raw Food Real World. Have a look at Sarma Melngailis' blog on welikeitraw.com, and you will see a link to her site oneluckyduck.com, and they make gorgeous icecreams with coconut and cashew milk. Also you will see a link for the book there.
Good luck.
Happy Trails.

This link provides another base for ice cream.
Edited: Sorry. It has coconut butter.

On Karen Knowler (runs the British raw food society FRESH)'s website there's a recipe for chocolate icecream made from cashew butter.
Have you tried banana icecream blended with pecans - it really makes it more like real icecream. Also adding berries makes it even better.

A nice base for ice cream with cashews is:
2 cups cashews
2 cups water
1/2 cup agave or other sweetener
Blend until smooth.
Cashews are easily blended smooth so there's no reason to strain. You can do this with macadamias too.
For vanilla just add one whole vanilla bean, ground. For chocolate add 1/2 cup raw chocolate powder.
This base is quite rich... people that are not raw at all LOVE it too! I find just half a cup serving is more than enough.
Enjoy!
