i have tried alissa's raw hummus and it was pretty good, but i haven't tried her zucc. hummus. Any of you tried it yet?

OHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! and, it is YUMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYY!

but, it makes ALOT! (that is another one of my complaints about this book-no amounts given-that is really unacceptable imo) unless you have lots of people coming. I would start with 1/4 or 1/2 batch...see if you like it first. also, can't remember what all is in it. but, i am quite sure that, if it didn't already call for it, that i added cumin. and, if it called for cumin, i added more. also, can't remember, but i think i adjusted the salt a bit too...but, can't remember if it was up or down. funny, i find that some of her recipes are just about bland and others are just totally oversalted. but, i honestly think that some of those may be connected to the poor editing of which i have previously spoken (in other threads).

What page is the recipe on? I could not find it? I do not like to do the bean thing and have been looking for a good sub. for hummus.

As far as recipe ingredient amounts especially on seasoning type things like salt you will probably always need to go with your own taste on her recipes. If you watch the DVD's you'll understand. She mentions until she wrote the book that she never measured any of her stuff really and had to actually sit down and do best guesses when writing the recipes out for publication. That works for me personally since I've always been good at making things in that way and usually only used recipes as guidelines to making something.

Yep- me & my kids LOVE it - but I still only make half the quantity in the recipe

My thoughts exactly Charles!

I wanted to ask, what do you all eat the hummus with/on, or do you just eat it by itself? Thanks! :D

I've only ever had (cooked) hummus a few times as we were transitioning to vegetarian and my husband used to visit this Mediterranean (sp?) restaurant and we'd have the hummus with the other fixins'.

I haven't tried it yet, but I haven't found anything that I don't like on Julianos 'real toast'. I love that stuff - very spicy though.

rawkinlocs, i eat dips and such on sliced veggies alot. they are quicker (and ultimately better for you than) dehydrated crackers and the like. sometimes sliced cucumbers or celery sticks or jicama...whatever.

but, don't expect it to taste like cooked garbanzo hummus...it doesn't. it is very different, lighter...but, very very good. add lots of cumin if you want it to taste more hummus-like.

OH THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS IDEA! Oh man, I have been waiting for an idea on how to serve raw hummus to my kids for quite sometime. They used to have it on pitas too. I don't like sprouting beans, so I will try this recipe. Thanks for the page number! I can hardly wait!!!

i would be careful about using this zuke hummus in a wrap...use it sparingly, like a dressing, or, be prepared to stand over the sink :) i just say that b/c this is a runnier hummus. it is not the same consistency as cooked hummus. i don't say that to steer you from it, b/c it is very good....i love it....just to let you know to have some napkins standing by :)
