I am after some help making nut butters. I have a new LexSun juicer - which is great for juicing, but it can also make nut butters.
The first I want to try is almonds. Do I sprout them first and do I have to take the skins off? Would I need to add any oil to it?
Also I want to try the almond milk in Alissa book - which says to use sprouted almonds, but in her table for sprouting, it says they only need to be soaked. Can someone clarify this for me? I gather that sprouting is the best option for grains, seeds, nuts and legumes (as opposed to just grinding or soaking).
Thanks,
Maree.

MareeM...I have not made nut butters using a juicer yet, but I have a new juicer on the way, and would like to hear how others make their butter.
This is what I PLAN to do though. I soak my almonds overnight. Then, I like to blanch my almonds, in boiling water for only about 7 seconds. I read somewhere that this does not kill the enzymes, if you rinse quickly in cold water. I plan to peel my almonds and then run them through the juicer. If it starts to bog down, I will probably add alittle coconut oil (I think coconut oil give it a nice flavor) I hope this helps. Almonds don't actually sprout, just soaking them, overnight...or sometimes a day, just rinse a couple of times...I sure hope that helped some. Let me know how your butter comes out.
Maybe someone more experience will chime in! :D

In Alissa's book, it definitely says "sprouted almonds" for the almond milk. I have been rinsing mine for a couple of days and they look like they might be sprouting. Anyone have any idea on this? And also whether the skins need to be removed for making almond butter? I want to make it the best way for my boys to enjoy - don't know if they'd like little "bits" in it... My juicer book says to soak the nuts overnight - I wonder if this is OK, or whether I should sprout them for better nutrients.
Anyone around - or is everyone off on holidays...

Hi Mareem,
I think it says sprouted almonds just because it's a word that's often used. Hulled nuts will not sprout, but they will germinate. Once you take them out of the shell they aren't able to properly sprout. Soaking them overnight, rinsing, and using or letting them sit for a few hours after soaking is good.

Hey, Fairy Child, can you tell me how to make nut butter in my champion juicer? Do I simply take out the curved rectangular piece? Thanks!

Stina,
u need to use the blank plate in order to make nut butters in your champion. So replace the one with holes, with the plastic piece.
