I need advice and help! I have eaten a sad for 15yrs and stopped because I was sick of feeling like I was gonna die! I thought maybe I had chronic fatigue syndrome!
I've been eating raw for 30 days......my skin is starting to finally clear, & I feel alittle better, but I still have a preety small amount of energy considering how healthy I am eating!
I eat fruit & nuts for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner I eat large salads, and then dates and nuts as snacks before bed.

If anyone can help, please do!
Thank YOU! :(

I really don't know what to tell you. I'm just really sorry you are feeling like this. *big hug* I hope someone else here can help you.

Don't forget, when you've eaten cooked for a long time, your body needs the time to "clean house" when you first go raw. How long it needs, it depends on the individual.

When I first went raw, I was so fatigued that I had to force myself to stay awake. But then when the "detox" was over, it was like crossing the border to another life.

Take heart, keep eating raw, and it should pass.

Hi and welcome!

First, congrats on 30 days and the successes you've had thus far! Try and focus on what IS changing in your body and trust that all else will happen for you too...sometimes it just takes time. Fifteen years of SAD eating is a long time so be fair to your body and give it love and patience as things are undone, cleaned and cleared out and healing taking place.

Sometimes the body will expend energy towards healing something inwardly that we cannot see and this "may" be making you tired...when the body heals it needs rest. I don't mean to stay in bed 24/7, but make sure you are giving your body ample amounts of rest it is requiring at this time.

Also, what is your raw diet like? What is a typical day of eating like for you? Some people find that too many nuts make them sluggish so they cut back on the amounts.

But all in all, I'd say that your body is wise and is doing what it needs to do...some people get this HUGE surge of energy within days of going raw...for others (like myself) it comes much later. But it will come...just give it time. I suffered with chronic fatigue prior to raw too...so much so that I HAD to nap daily and if I didn't, I was no good! But after a while, all that changed...it will for you too!

 thanks for the support! I will try to cut back on nuts.
I have heard that it takes 6months for the body to detoxify. Has anyone else heard this?

In the mean time I will focus on the positives:
1.My pimples are clearing(took 24days of being raw before that started!).
2. I am less moody
3. I have HOPE for the future!

Unfortunately I still have brittal nails, and as I mentioned, I am weak.

I also have a slight case of candida which never wants to go away!

I love advice from all! :)

You'll be fine!

The detox thing varies from person-to-person...no two persons are alike. It really all depends on many factors including how badly one "abused" their bodies prior to approaching a healthier lifestyle. I tend to lean towards the idea that we are CONSTANTLY detoxing on and off if not due to what we eat, from things such as various environments, the air we breath, whether or not we are ever exposed to second-hand smoke, pesticides in any inorganic produce we may eat, things we put on our skin when bathing or washing our hair or applying lotions and oils...so we are never COMPLETELY clean and free and in the clear, IMHO...but we do as much as we can to be as clean and healthy as we can. But as it's been said many times, we don't live in a perfect world.

I also experienced candida and had it to vanish from eating raw...I had it both vaginally and orally (thrush) and with eating raw, it cleared up nicely! Allow me to also add that I didn't do any "restricted" type of raw diet where I cut out sugar or fats or ... I just ate raw and overtime, it went away, only to creep back up during slip-ups of cooked foods.

The brittle nails thing...had that too! Now, they are much stronger and not as easy to break as they were when I first went raw. I used to wear fake, acrylic nails and polish so I'm sure there had to be some "detoxing" of the nailbed as well! Sometimes it happens with hair too...prior usage of perms, relaxers, coloring, hair grease, etc...that stuff has to come up out of the system as well and thus, some experience hair shedding but many have said after a while, it stops and begins to grow back in thicker and healthier. I didn't have the hair loss thing happen but I attribute it in part to the fact that I had stopped using hair relaxers and such long before being introduced to eating raw and living foods.

You sound like me! I've been high raw for two years, I was 100 percent for 4 months at the longest stretch, and I know that when I go back to 100 percent this week, I'll have periods of debilitating weakness. I think I have some deep healing crisis that I haven't really allowed my body to go through yet (it tends to show up at its worst right when I'm entertaining company!) It could be chronic fatigue, or candida, or something else - I know that, whatever it is, it will eventually heal itself.

But 30 days - that's really not much time. Most people feel much better within a few months.

I'm thinking of doing a short fast soon and just suffering through the tiredness until I get past it. Now that holidays are almost over, I think I can afford to take some days to do nothing.

I came on here to find others with my problem! I am so glad I am not alone!
All u hear is how wonderful you'll feel after 30days! They forget to mention that there are some people whos bodies are so messed up from the SAD diet that they will need special attention!

Is candida supposed to just dissapear with an all raw diet? Or do u think you're supposed to stay away from sweet fruits?

I bought black tea today, cause I need caffein, although I know it's not raw, and is probably bad for u
I should continue to mention that I had no energy before I went raw, so I am used to feeling weak

I went without caffein for 20 days, but didn't improve, so I've been sneaking it! But my eating has been excellent! I do saute` vegetable for my salad, but I doubt that can hurt me.

Here was my diet as of 2months ago:

candy bars, cookies and fruit for breakfast and lunch

& 2 burger patties with 1cup of vegetable for dinner

I actually thought I ate pretty good!!!!

As the years passed, I got weaker and weaker, until I realized I would die if I continued this diet!!

I don't think or recall every hearing that after 30 days you will be totally free from all ailments and conditions, but that you will feel better...there were some improvement after 30 days for you, correct? Maybe not complete and total healing/relief from all things such as the fatigue...but you did have some things that improved and felt a little better. That is what you want to focus on and because of that, you have the hope that beyond 30 days, MORE wonderful changes will begin to happen. The 30-day challenge is to get people to see a glimpse of what is to come.

LOL...I think we all did! :)

But what is a typical raw day for you? What is your diet like now? I just want to get a glimpse at what kinds of foods you're eating, how much you're eating, etc. to see if there are some things you can tweak a little to help with your tiredness. But in all honesty I just think it's your body needing a little more time to do some internal healing and that it'll pass regardless.

My typical day:
(I eat alot, by the way. But am skinny 5'2 and 103)

Breakfast & lunch:
apples, bananas, dates, mangos & almonds

Dinner:
large salads with sauted vegies for xtra calories

Dessert: dates & almond

since I am already skinny I eat as much as possible, cause I have had people worried that I am anorexic!

I have been sneaking coffee in the morning, but it only makes me feel better for 2hrs and then I crash

Ahhh...the plot thickens!

Well, let's see how you feel once you have freed yourself from the coffee and of course, gone through the initial detox from the caffeine. This may be a HUGE factor in how you are feeling. Also, sautee'd veggies? So during your 30 days were you eating the cooked veggies and drinking coffee? That's not to say that your results would or would not have been any different, but there is a great chance that things may have been even a little better than they were if you were 100% for the 30 days. But again, even with that, you still caught a glimpse of just how much things can change once you commit to a fully raw diet because you experienced some wonderful changes even now as many do on a high raw diet.

You can always try marinating and if you have a dehydrator, lightly dehydrating your veggies to soften them down a little as opposed to sauteeing them if you want.

I went without coffee for 20days, but went back cause I found it hard to function. I know that I should stop anyway. I just got upset that I had no energy with or without it :(
But as we discussed, it will take alot of time for my body to heal

Do you think I should stop eating dates and almonds and should eat more juicy fruit instead? Will that help me?

I personally do not think you have to STOP eating them...adding more fresh, juicy fruit definitely won't hurt and is a good thing...but I wouldn't say you have to totally give up dates and nuts...you can try cutting back on them and eat maybe less just to see how you feel and if it brings about any change. If you want, maybe try going a day without them at all or with eating only one serving the whole day and see if it makes a difference or not. But if it's a toss up between nuts and dates and a candy bar from the vending machine or something, then definitely don't deprive yourself of such a much more wholesome snack! Remember, this "diet" is about freedom...not deprivation. But if you feel you should temporarily-just-until-your-body-finishes-healing cut down on the sweet, dried fruits and nuts, then do so...but don't feel you can never ever have them again. But yes, where you can, incorporate more fresh fruit to your diet in meals and/or snacks.

I am one of the ones that you don't hear about. My first week raw I had a glimmer of what it could be. I have been in detox ever since - culminating in a strange serious illness that kept me off work for a month so I decided that it must be detox deluxe and have been having SAD to keep it under control so I can work but it is back to raw as much as I can now that I am back at work. I am still not having the raw energy or feeling good but I have had so much benefit from raw - growths shrink and get off all of my medications - so I am just one of those that will take a long time to be a good example of raw health!

proper food combining has been working for me....

in my OPINION and EXPERIENCE...fruit and nuts is not optimal....i like eating lots of fruit...lots...all day....

at night i eat huge salads with nuts or avo or other fat....my energy has been amazing....it has taken some time to get here....
