I remember someone asking the questions about these two items, and I do ot believe her questions were answered.

Wine: fermented items, such as wine, are considered raw.

Olives: When jarred, olives are pasteurized, usually well above 165 degrees F, thus delegating them to the "dead" status.

I hope this helps.

What about the various jarred olives from NFL? They are obviously quite different from the jarred olives at the grocery store, which taste like blah in comparison.

Like anything there are different processes. Many jarred things are jarred at just below boiling (hot flow I think it's called). Others are done cold. Just being in a jar doesn't mean cooked or not, however it definitely leans it more to cooked if it's not a specialty raw product.

We have olive stores here that sell fresh olives. They are FABULOUS!!!!! I assumed they were raw since they aren't canned and they are quite fresh. If I'm wrong, I'm not sure I want to know :wink wink:. They are so yummy!

I'm in Bulgaria, btw. We get fresh EVERYTHING here!

I have bought olives from detox your world which are dried and I soak them in water but they are not very nice. I managed to get used to the taste but everyone else would spit them out and grimmace.
The ones that they sell in a jar are very nice but very salty so I can only manage to nibble at 2 per meal.
