Do y'all eat raw peanut butter? I just found this article by Dr. T which says that all peanuts and peanut butters (even raw to my reading) are carcinogenic....

What is your experience with peanuts?

Thanks a bunch!

Rebecca

My experience with peanuts is I've been eating them since I was a kid and I'm still here. If you're talking about aflatoxin, that's a different story and that can be found on many things we eat, not just peanuts. (and THAT discussion has been here as well). I don't read fear articles sooo, not reading that one. Thank you for the heads-up.

Wow I didn't know that peanut butter was so unhealthy. I wonder why its still sold if it was that bad.. It can't all be true, can it

It's true about the peanuts but I think the issue doesn't apply to everyone. Some people are more prone to problems either. But the issue of safety applies to other things as well. What about tobacco and alcohol? They're sold and some would say they're not safe either.

That being said, I would not eat a raw peanut because to me they just plain don't taste good. I would not eat a boiled peanut ever again either. *shudders, remembering*

I do have a jar of organic peanut butter (not raw) in the house. I have eaten it from time to time, but far less than I used to. I have to be careful with nuts anyway because I am allergic to almonds and most peanut butter is not made in a dedicated facility.

No peanuts for me. I LOVE raw almond butter, though

I used to LOVE peanut butter - but since I have been eating raw, I can't stand the after taste. But I have discovered Cashew butter ( which isn't raw either) It is WONDERFUL :D but I still prefer a raw food and only a little c.butter once in a while.

I don't like the thought of eating something that used to be poisonouse - I would rather eat dead cashews than dead prevously poisoned peanuts lol

I found a great sit that makes and ships Raw Foods. It is out of Miami and completely organic. I live in S. Fla. and have been to the farm. They sell Raw Nut Butters if you are interested :)

P.S. The website is www.glaserorganicfarms.com

I like that. "I don't read fear articles". I really like that. That is something to remember, and I shall, thanks to Revvell.

Is there such a thing as Organic raw peanuts without the toxins?

Peanuts are only as dangerous as anything else...there are all sorts of potential toxins on many things we eat.

Rawk on, Trinity! Me, too. And it was decent. But I have to say as far as raw nut butters go, almond is my favorite. Yeah...even more than peanut butter...I used to practically LIVE on peanut butter.

I don't eat peanuts. I try to avoid all foods that are full of mycotoxins, which are essentially fungi and molds. While people say that it's a natural condition, it grows naturally, etc., etc., I believe it is not natural and that these fungi have come to infect our food supply due to our mass production and storage deficiencies which leave the harvested crop in conditions suitable for invasion. And once the seed is infected, if it's planted and grown, all that comes from it will be infected...so many crops have become riddled with these mycotoxins to the point that you can't avoid ingesting them if you eat that food.

Even the bible cautions regarding mold, to the destruction of a dwelling and the removal of all it's components to outside of the area where the people lived. If such care were taken for external molds, imo, greater care need be taken regarding internal mold.
