View Full Version : Sad to see others suffering...

I have had a really hard time lately being around friends and family bc/ they all sit around and talk about their ailments and diseases. They all eat a SAD diet and are sick and overweight yet they think that my family is odd for eating raw. (We are thin, healthy and haven't seen a doc in years except for check-ups:always great news.) They are very respectful of our choices, but don't want it for themselves even though they have seen me lose almost 100 lbs and feel and look great. It hurts me to see the one I love suffering when I know the solution is right before their eyes. Does anyone else deal with this?

I'm the only one in my family who's ever been raw. And, I don't need a scientist to quantify the fact that I feel and look better raw vs. cooked!

But most people who know that I'm raw thinks it's crazy -- even though they take a handful of medications a day just to feel "okay" and never feel vibrant. It's a very sad state of affairs in the modern world that most folks seem to accept that health and quality of life detoriate and that RX intervention is the norm.

I hope that the more people who show the results of RAW through their own choices and actions, the more others will "see the light"
(I can dream, can't I?)

Being a good model of happiness and confidence is the best gift you can give - this or any other season! :)

-You can feel bad if you want to...but a more useful emotion would be one of acceptance and support (for them).

Ditto what was said above.

Just let them have their own path. They'll come around to whatever healing means for them in their own time. I know it's hard :)

-David Z. Mason Exactly! Just be someone to model themselves on.

I agree! If they ask, then you can share a bit of your newfound excitment. Being a role model is the best way to convince. Also, you can just put out some fab raw dishes at the table for them to try.

I've been interested in raw for years and my brother is just now catching on. He couldnt' (or didn't want to) give up his love of baked goodies and junkfood. I have a bunch of raw books and stuff lying around the house. I give him samples of all the raw food I make. He's now interested in eating more that way after he came to terms with his weight gain and wants to start taking better care of himself. He hates it when we nag him. Actually today I was in his room to use the computer and he had two raw books on his self!! I thought they were mine but he said he bought them! Yeah!

Good luck and plan on wowing everyone by your vibrance, energy and positive spirit- oh and great raw dishes if you have.

salsababy i just saw your post about brother and baked goods / junk food and if ya never made this he might like it .

i made alissas frosting for ground walnuts and raisins of pitted dates soaked in water then blended with lemon juice and water into a frosting consistency .
then i cut bananas in half , stuck popsicle sticks in the cut ends for handles , then dunked em in the frosting , placed in freezer on plate til frozen for a great raw sweet tooth popsicle . he'd prob like that frosting on the walnut raisin mixture also as a replacement for baked stuff .

put some of them "rawsicles" in freezer and bruz shall be a raw foodist in no time . :)
