This all came about by reading Rowan C post about Kale, Shredding Kale and her way of slicing it.

http://rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24355

Well, she suggested adding lemon juice to the kale after you finished slicing it. I have a manual beautiful lemon juicer (squeezer), glass, that looks like an upside down bowl with ridges. It's the kind you cut half of your lemon, put the cut side onto this thingie and twist seeing the richest, purest lemon juice pour into its bottom. It works great. Now this one has a glass handle too. The bargain came from the thrift store a long time ago but today was the birth of it coming from the cabinet to the counter. I love it! Another lightweight tool to travel to TX with next month.

This new kitchen appliance is a new toy to me that I can play with and create wonderful things from. I love simple living and living simply.

I love new toys! I went to a thrift store with my spouse last night and I saw so many gagets I wanted to buy but I was concered about the fact that the boxes looked like they were sold in the 60-70's LOL

One was a juicer that gets pressed with handles.. nifty
and I saw a slicer that came with accessories to make veggies twirl into pasta styles.. I so wanted them LOL..

I didnt buy them

U dont accept email's so I hope you dont mind me asking you a question in this thread. How did you loose so much weight? I want to get below 120 but my body is fussy. What put your body in a fat burning mode to get below 120's? :)

I think it is an antique! My parents had one when I was a kid. I have not seen one in years!

What is the antique?

I try never to pass up something that looks like it's a great deal and special. With this hand juicer, maybe that it is what it called, it's really neat especially since it's glad and can put my thumb through it. Going to correct that now. I need buy more lemons for upcoming squeezings. I'm on a lemon roll.

My kids think everything I have is junk, but just are clueless about what I have and how to use it. They are not eager learners and both have spouses to prepare for. If they only knew how easily I can whip up a meal without electricity or gas with my gadgets they may be impressed out of desperation to eat without any heat.

The hand juicer made of glass is an antique! Maybe I am wrong but I have not seen one in years. Like you I would prefer not to be dependant on electricity to make my foods but have not followed that path yet. I had seen a hand juicer at the HFS but it was made of that metal that the juices leach the metal out. When the kids get older they will realize that you are/were really onto something. One of my secret fears is being old and in the care of someone who forces me to eat SAD and who can't bother to do raw. Conversely, I have also wanted to go to the nursing home and give raw juice to someone I know of there. He is not that old but he does not wish to heal either.
